  1. My kids are soooo tired from the 1st few days of back to school & getting up early- we're going to skip this one- anybody know when the next one is?
  2. The school is in Villa Rica, I stated that could be misleading because not many people know that the small area there on Mulberry Rock is Villa Rica, not Dallas. Mr. Wilson used to live off Marshall Fuller in Paulding Co before moving to Spartangburg, SC. I understand that is where he is serving his bond conditions at this time- home restriction with GPS monitoring (ankle bracelet probably)
  3. I see Pubby's pinned topic now. I understand the investigation stemmed from websites & purchases he made- not from allegations at the school but why in the world were parents not notified of this??? Many of the students Mr. Wilson dealt with on a daily basis in 2003-2005 were special needs students- the ones without a voice! He was also involved in children's bible studies & tutoring outside of school. He was actively teaching in our district when he was arrested- how is this just now coming to light? A wolf in sheep's clothing among us. And gives other male teachers with
  4. I have no words for this. He was my children's teacher for many years. First in a special needs program then as the art teacher for New Ga Elem. This just makes me sick. So glad he is no longer in our schools. Referring to New GA Elem as a Villa Rica School is quite misleading. It is a Paulding Co School this man taught at. A former Villa Rica school teacher was indicted last week on charges of possession of child pornography. Joseph Monroe Wilson, 43, who taught at New Georgia Elementary School, a school in the Paulding County Schools district, was arrested last Thursday. A $150
  5. Ha! We did the same thing, except we were at the parking lot for New GA Elem- those are great places to practice on the weekends!
  6. My heart was warmed with all the folks helping out with the excel formatting/ formula question. Sample sheets, and several genuinely trying to help. I love that about Pcom.
  7. Cook up a few chicken breasts Sunday night, slice into strips & refrigerate for use throughout the week! My house likes it with melted cheese & ranch dressing.
  8. Roundtree Recreation has open swim hours as does S Cobb Aquatic Center.
  9. We've bought tires from Jeff as well and have been very pleased with the quality & service! I've had a full set of his tires on my Trailblazer for the past year- I will never buy big money name brand again! Here's a shout out keeping this on the front page hoping he'll see it in the morning. Maybe a PM? 770-505-6778 if you don't hear from him first thing
  10. Who needs a 3-day weekend when they get Fall Break the last week of Sept (after just 3 weeks back)? 9/24-9/28 is fall break. They're off 11/6 for conferences, 11/19-11/23 for Thanksgiving 12/21-1/4 for Christmas/Holidays 1/21- MLK 2/18-2/22 Winter Break Finally a 3 day weekend 3/15 4/8-4/12 Spring Break Last Day May 24 http://168.9.116.195/ischooldistrict/departments_more.php?districtpage_ID=239&district_ID=2 for the district calendars.
  11. That'll get me to check this place out! I've really enjoyed this group! Awesome band & people!
  12. I give credit that after something was mentioned previously, they have begun adding a nearby location or landmark to the Nixle Alerts. 1739 Villa Rica Hwy isn't really useful but when they say, "near New GA Animal Hospital" or "near Sparkles on Hwy 278" most people have a good idea of where that is. This morning's Nixle confuses me though. They firetruck was already back at the station by the time the Nixle went out (or, rather, by the time it got to my phone/email) alerting that one lane on 278 was shut down. I'd hate for this tool to become overused- notifying the public of each a
  13. Carrollton Parks & Rec has a splash park (outdoors), as does S Cobb Aquatic Center (indoors)
  14. Check with Creekside Golf & Country Club off Nebo, not 100% sure but worth a call!
  15. I wonder the same thing. Does it have anything to do with the No Crossing signs that drive me crazy everytime I sit there @ Pine Valley waiting to turn on 92, across the road are two "Do Not Cross, Use Crosswalk" signs with arrows pointing towards the other sign that says the same exact thing. . . anyone else notice this? Hope everyone involved in the accidents in that area lately is ok. Folks really should pay better attention.
  16. Mrs. G- I live in the cul de sac at the end of your street the heathens are out in full force! They congregate at the end of the street where we have 2, soon to be 3 abandoned homes. Their parents pay ZERO attention because the kids are in the neighborhood & they think that means something. Its gone to hell in a handbasket back here. I pick up candy wrappers, soda cans, pizza boxes, etc from the end of my driveway all the time from their middle of the night escapades. The 2 boys in the house across from you come to my end of the street and cause havoc. The mailboxes, porches &
  17. Stinks that they have to have furlough days but who schedules these days? Seems the public is most inconvenienced when they close on Fridays (think pay day for general population) or like this week; closed on Monday for a holiday (libraries were closed Wed this week too) and then again on Fri. Closings at the end of the month are brutal as well as they are not well publicized and when you can only get certain days off from work, coupled with your pay schedule it can be tough to renew that tag. This was done out of necessity, I know; but one could hope that they would better plan their c
  18. Nah, a the smoke alarm went off. Called for smoke in elevator. They don't repair hydraulic elevators but I doubt when the call went out at 11:30 last night they could get a service tech out there- instead you get our AMAZING firefighters on call & ready to serve our community 24/7 They actually had a waterflow call earlier in the day when a lady set off the sprinkler system in an assited living facility while she was cooking in her apartment. Fooded her unit & the one next to it. They're not plumbers either but they got all the water out of there. . . .

  20. Thanks for clarifying! My husband worked the call last night- I was going to post the same as you. . .
  21. Right??! A phone case? I needed one anyways. . . I'm really leaning towards buying him the necklace I want for his birthday this month. Yeah, I am being snarky & having bigger fish to fry. . . it didn't ruin my day & Pcom is always a fun place to share my dirty laundry!
  22. Husband and I got new phones recently. He goes to buy me a new case for mine as a birthday present & is offered a "deal" if he buys two. So, he now has a case for my phone (that's my birthday present) and a new case for his phone (because it was MY birthday?) Maybe I'm being snarky, maybe I just need to vent... But dang it, why did he get a present for MY birthday too? I think I'm going to buy him the necklace I want for his birthday.....
  23. All branches? I am a frequent contributor to the library budget. I can never remember to return my stuff on time, even with the email reminders they send! I'll take you up on this offer for sure!
  24. I didn't get my 1st cell phone until I was in my mid-twenties. Had to pass a credit check & sign a contract. Now, if you're on govt assistance you get a free phone? Why work hard if you can get hand-outs instead? Yeah, yeah I get the whole "not everyone on assistance wants to be on it" but there's not really much motivation to be self-sufficient if there's all these programs with entitlements only for poor folks. What's the govt gonna give me for NOT needing their assistance and making it on my own?
  25. She's still traveling around the county asking for cash. Earlier today she stopped by one of the Paulding Co Fire Stations and asked the men on shift for gas money so she could get to Kennestone for a blood transfusion. No money, mam, but if its an emergency we can call an ambulance for you........
