  1. I have gotten Blu-ray discs rather than DVD. I returned it and they gave me codes for two free DVD rentals for my trouble. This has happened twice to me and I got the same offer. First class. I got a Blu-ray player for Christmas, so no more free rentals unless I get an unplayable disc. . .
  2. 3. If you are keeping Comcast for Internet, save your money on the antenna. I just plugged in the coaxial cable in the set, and it works just fine. It didn't on our older set (pre HD) in the guest room, but the other two work better with the coaxial than the antenna did. If you want an antenna, I bought three that I'm not going to use and will sell for cheap. Two of them were pricey ($75) and they were worthless for me in South Paulding.
  4. I know with Netflix you can have up to 3 sets running at the same time. This includes tablets or phones as well. I never ran into the problem with Hulu, but I imagine it's the same. Sports are the big drawback with this set up. I only care about Braves Baseball. I don't know what I will do come spring. I know MLB TV is an option, but they are jerks about locals getting the games from what I've read.
  5. I don't have those apps, but in most cases, it is just the same as what is available online.
  6. I have the setup you are talking about. We have Internet only to the house. With that, you just plug the cable coaxial into the back of your HD compatible TV and you will get some 22 channels not counting the Spanish and Christian channels. NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS (three of them) plus Peachtree, and the like. You will need one Roku (they are better than the Boxxe) per TV. I have the XS in the living room, an HD for the bedroom, and the LT model in the guest room. We have Netflix ($7.99 a month), HuluPlus ($7.99 a month), Amazon Prime ($69.00 a year), and PlayOn($69.99 Lifetime subscription wi
  7. I bet they'll close the schools today . . .
  8. The important people in my family drink beer. I'll give them a try for take out though. I wish them luck, that location has not been kind to restaurants for some reason . . .
  9. Just as an FYI, the Kindle Fire is $129.00 the rest of Cyber Monday . . .
  10. Never trust anyone from the Internet who wants you to ship a cat to Iowa - It's a catscam . . .
  11. You see -This is how rumors get started. It was only one . . .
  12. Aside from reading , it's a perfect tool for streaming movies or TV. Apps for Hulu, Netflix, and third party carriers like Revision3 and Crackle are available in Amazon's app store for free, not to mention Amazon's instant streaming if you subscribe to that service.. I have last year's model, not the HD but, I'm sure the newer ones are even better. The only downside I've found, is that it is wifi only, so oftentimes when I'm away from home, I have to use my phone either as the viewing device, or the tether. As far as web surfing, it's awkward, but doable if you have your sites bookmarked i
  13. Blow a wish to the third star on your left. then hold your breath . . .
  14. Early voted at Poplar Springs on Thursday - In, out, no one got hurt . . .
  15. Funny - That's the second reference to that line I've heard tonight. I was watching Johnny Depp's Dark Shadows tonight and Barnabas referred to the line after reading the book Love Story. I had always attributed the line to those creepy naked Love is . . . poster kids from my youth. Of course, I never read the book, so I never had reason to question the source. . .
  16. This ain't a poll, but . . . I Tweet and did so during the debate. Tweets are good . . .
  17. I'm more disappointed in the Braves fans than the ridiculous call. Bad calls are a part of baseball. Love it for it's flaws as well as it's triumphs. That's the game. The Braves fans threw trash on the field like a bunch of Phillies fans. Shameful. As for the Braves - I personally enjoyed a great season, and for that, I thank them. And Chipper, thanks for 19 great seasons (Chipper reads pcom I'm sure).
  18. Two observations: 1. Deerslayer is clearly too old and his remarks should be dismissed. B. Wingers has been a member for nine years, and has only 44 posts (wth) . . .
  19. FOUL! - This survey is right in my wheelhouse, and I watched all of them. I reluctantly chose my favorite between each . . .
  20. We are cutting back our service with Comcast at month's end, and I'm looking at my options for Internet only. It looks like Comcast or AT&T are my only two real options. We will be streaming a bit more than we are now I suspect, but I'm confident that Comcast can handle the bandwidth. I am currently 18 down and 4.5 up at $62.oo a month. AT&T claims 24 down and ? up at $45.oo a month for 12 months and $63.oo thereafter at the current pricing (250 GB of data/mo). At any rate, does anyone have the AT&T "Max Turbo" internet? Opinions?
