  1. I might br inclined to say I was them and tell them to stop calling me.
  2. Skipping to the bottom here. The war itself did bring about e inimical prosperity but for very different reasons. Yes we had spent loads of money on weapons and ammo and got industry revved up. But the things not mentioned yet are the forced rationing and extra wages over those five years. The men went to war and got paid for it. That left many existing job openings here and many new ones as well. Women went to these jobs enmass as never before earning their own wages. After give years of war caused seperation and ration induced saving, the men came home. Many were married and ready to start n
  3. Ours went from 156k in 2010 to 105k last year to 75k this year. It must be all the foreclosures around us. I know for a a fact that just to rebuild my house would cost about 150K. And that does not include the land.
  4. And I totally agree. It was a joke to believe they would not pull that funding and place it elsewhere. I did just get my assesments for this year. Went from 105K down to 75K. Down another 30% I don't know wheter to laugh or cry. We bought the house in 2002 for 143k. Saw it go to around 180k and now down to 75k. I'm sury that loss in value didn't help the fire tax.
  5. I wouldn't have expected it to have been either. I was trying to point out that the ISO rating Does have an impact on rates and that the Fire tax and the department's expansion subseguent to that tax will have a positive effect on that rating. Whether or not it brought the county a decrease is still open in my book but FB did mention a move from ISO 6 to ISO 5. In short I see our debate as being more about whether or not the FT helped our ISO / insurance costs not the tax itself.
  6. I know mine went up as well. That has more to do with the cost of materials in a rebuild and the loss of new home rates due to age. So even with a decrese in ISO ratings you are not garunteed an overall decrease. It may just be less of an incease.
  7. I can tell you with certainty that the H/O insuance looks heavily at the ISO rating for your area. The lower the number the better the rate you get. The last time I looked Paulding had an ISO rating of 6 for most of the county and 9 in a few other areas. Part of the ISO rating is Water supply and roads / traffic access. I am not cuurent on what Paulding has done to improve the ISO ratings here but they have to apply for a review and meet the new criteria. Do we meet criteria for a 4 or 5? I do not know. I do know that Cobb with all of its resources is a 3. And there is a whole lot needed to mo
  8. I'm really torn on this one. I obviously see the need for the stations, crew and equipment. I voted for the Fire Tax as well. I do understand also that the same millage rate is being applied to a decreased tax digest now as well. That leads to a shortfall in the needed budget. My issue was that the Fire Tax was "sold" to us an increase to be used in conjuntion with the regular budget to help fund an increase in our Dept. size and capabilities. The very first thing that Shearin and crew did when the got the first years $5 million from the Fire Tax was to yank the entire $5 million that would ha
  9. I don't know about you guys but I kick one over almost daily.
  10. I really hate having to drive the fire truck round subdivisions on garbage days. worse yet is all the folks who believe the cul-de-sac is their very own parking lot with 2 and even 3 cars parked out there nose in tail out. That really makes it tough to turn around.
  11. well how is this for conflicting information? http://www.keprtv.co...-151438675.html http://news.national...res-gas-prices/ http://finance.yahoo...refineries.html http://www.futuresma...-shutdown-fears And the list goes on and on and on... Just think back over the recent years. Whenever a storm threatened the refineries or one shut down because of some issue, the gas prices jumped and they jumped fast and by a good bit. The overall results are the same. we are near maximum output on our refineries almost all the time. That also includes what we export in gasoline as well. Th
  12. On a side note, we were responding down Paul Samuel in the Rescue the other day. The vehicle in front of us was starting to pull over and went over a rather large snake just slithering down the middle of the road. I kind of felt sorry for the snake. All those cars going by it and the asphalt had to be downright HOT. But then again there is that Darwinism issue again. He will likely not be as inclined to do that again if he survived.
  13. I don't think this was about "sacrafice" LPPT. I'm sure his intentions that morning were not to get bit and die. As far as driving goes, that is something that many of us must do to survive. And unlike snake handling, IF everyone obeys the rules and pays attention to their actions, then it is a realtively safe thing to do. Sitting down next to a rattlesnake and HOPING it won't bite you is an entirely different action. There are no rules and if there were HOW would the snake know what they were.
  14. A "serpent-handling" West Virginia pastor died after his rattlesnake bit him during a church ritual, just as the man had apparently watched a snake kill his father years before.Pentecostal pastor Mark Wolford, 44, hosted an outdoor service at the Panther Wildlife Management Area in West Virginia Sunday, which he touted on his Facebook page prior to the event. http://news.yahoo.com/serpent-handling-west-virginia-pastor-dies-snake-bite-173406645--abc-news-topstories.html Now the last thing I want to do is open a discussion about religion here. So with that in mind I ask that we refrain f

  17. It's really simple. "They" are experts because they agree with her.
  18. We no longer are allowed to be in oe ner the roadway. We get permission from the proper person to stand outside say WM or some other place on private property.
  19. I know another person who just got layed off from a LARGE local company as well. I'm sorry for him as well as the HP folks who get their notice.
  20. Sorry to say Mrs.D... but anything that you post that she disagrees with is just Hooey anyway. It doesn't matter who wrote what about whatever, if it is contrary to her beliefs she just dismisses it altogether because it is Hooey.
  21. THAT"S IT!!! No more weed trimming in anyone's yard while wearing baggy shorts "commando" style for me. :ninja:
  22. I think I would agree. No legs, no hands. I'm not sure MY PERSONAL quality of life would be sufficient to want to go on. but that is just my opinion for myself.
