All DMV's are closed on Mondays. Except possibly the one near the Atl. Zoo, which I think just does reinstatements, etc.

The VFW on Highway 41 (Cobb Parkway), Acworth has it on Sunday and at least 1 other day. I am not sure what time; but, I do know that my neighbor went every Sunday, until she died. If you are not familiar where I am talking about, take 92 toward Acworth. When you get to 41, take a left. It will be a very short distance on your right.

Natural Gas - How to Find Out if a Area Has It?
confederaterose replied to ChocoMare's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Depending on how far it is, AGL might run the line anyway. We were on propane which is very expensive. I called AGL and they wanted $4900 to run the line. I said no, as I would have to burn a lot of propane to make up that difference. I read in the AJC that AGL might run gas lines free. I called them and they put me in touch with a very nice man in their Villa Rica office. He came out and measured and they put it in free. I still have his card. If you want his contact information, just pm me. -
In so far as I could tell, there is not a list this time. If he had service, at any time between 1938 - 2012,he most likely qualifies. I ended up having to call Cobb EMC to get all of my account numbers and claim numbers. I know several other people that have had to call them. The people in charge are in Dublin, OH. I could not get any information out of them without a claim number and control number. If you want to give them a call, their number is 1-888-292-8850.

I applied for the money they sent last year and it ended with refunds thru 1970. So had a year and a half. Got refund of $176. I have filed 4 claims for the current rebate. Each account number you had has a different claim. Why we had 2 account numbers for 1 address, I do not know why. From what I am told, the law suit involves anyone that had Cobb EMC from 1938 through 2012. Cobb EMC says they had 900,000 customers in that time period. The Judge will rule on the distributions on 2-25. At that time, they will determine how many people filed and how much each person will get. There is

Texas Shoe Store Opens Branch at Avenues

I too love SAS. Meant to get over there this week-end; but, doubt I will make it. I am retired from USAA. Their home office is in San Antonia. Went to the plant where they make them, while on a company trip. Quite interesting. Especially, these special order cowboy boots that cost thousands of $. All the men at USAA wore suits and cowboy boots, which I thought was funny. -
We remember storms of 82, 93 and 2011
confederaterose replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Both the storm of 1973 and 2011 came in a Sunday. Some people on here do not recall the 1973 storm came in on a Sunday. I was so sure that it did that I researched. Sure enough it was a Sunday. The girls were at Crescent Park Skating Ring, with a friend. It started freezing rain around 2:30 to 3 o'clock. Husband went and picked them up. Brought girls home and was on the way to Bells Ferry Road to take friend home. His truck swapped ends on Stanley Road. He did make it back home without further problems. As I stated in a previous post, it was icy and dicey for a week or more; but -
We remember storms of 82, 93 and 2011

How well I remember all of these storms. We never lost power in the 73 storm. Had a lot of relatives who did. Our house was overstuffed for a week. -
My husband perspires profusely. It took no time to for him to need another bath. After switching to every soap and deo. known to man-kind, I switched laundry detergent to Wisk which eliminates trapped body oils and sweat in clothing. Since that time 1 bath a day is quite enough.

The Acworth Shoney's on 92. The Sonny's is on the 4 lane in Marietta, right in front of the Sam's Club. As far as the real estate market here in Paulding, we just sold an investment house. The first person that looked at it came in with a full price offer and it was a 15 minute closing, in 21 days. We had 3 back up offers, just in case the first one fell though. By the way the house appraised for $75,000 more than we paid for it 2 and 1/2 years ago. I agree with T-Bird, we do not know anything.

Apparently some people are not well traveled around here. I can take you to a Logan's, Dalton, Shoney's, Acworth and list goes on.

Just don't. My experience with them was awful. They do not return calls. This involved a foster child and spent 6 hours going over same things with several people. The nurse made rude comments. They never did anything to resolve any of the issues. Thank God the child's Dad got custody of her and they moved out of Paulding County, so she was taken some place and is now doing fine.

It was probably the snow jam of Jan. 1982. Everything frozen and the temps did go up much for a week. I was a supervisor for an insurance co. at the time. The office was closed; but, I was, of course, in the rotation for answering service calls. I got so many calls that I had to take my phone off the hook to go to the bathroom. Frozen pipes are not covered by insurance, so there was not much I could tell them.

No hemi for me. Being older than dirt, I am not into that racing, gas guzzling thingy.

Thanks for all of the helpful information. Actually, I went to a dealership this morning and bought a car. It was not on the approved list sent by USAA. I took the 3 quotes I had gotten from the USAA link and showed them only the lowest one. They beat the lowest price one. When I got home, I had a message from the dealership I went to yesterday. DH said you are not calling them back are you? I said oh, yes. I called and advised I just bought the car, in the color I wanted and the price I was willing to pay. Thanks to Turner Simpson @ Ed Voyles Chrysler, it was a very pleasant expe

USAA offers a service where they negotiate the selling price of the car. I call them and spoke to a nice young man that sounded like the was 10 years old. I am pretty sure he must have been at least 18. He was explaining the link to me, as everything is now on line. He asked me if I need a Power of Attorney. I do not understand what you mean. So, he says "are you capable of signing your own documents or will you need someone to sign for you?" I say "if I could not sign myself, I sure as hell would not be buying a car." I go to the link and build my virtual car. I read what it said and

Not sure there is such a thing as good dishwasher any more. Had a very, very old high end Maytag. I considered it 98% efficient. When it died I, of course, looked at Maytag's. Maytag was bought out by Westinghouse. My thought was surely they did not make many changes to an excellent dishwasher. Wrong! It has too may issues to list here. I consider it about 60% efficient.

Not all Christmas Gifts. Just things we needed or wanted. First off my DH had to have hearing aids (not covered by insurance). I am sure that operating a crane for 70 to 100 a week and hearing those diesel engines run is what got his hearing, 60% hearing lost. The hearing aids cannot get wet, so he needed a hat with a brim. We went to Jos. A. Bank and got the hat. They were having such a great sale we also walked out with a $600 camel hair sports coat. Next, the grand girl's computer crashed so I ordered from Amazon and had it shipped directly to them in PA. Next, the transmission we

This guy needs to be POPPED right in the mouth....
confederaterose replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am the first to admit, I do not understand free or reduced lunch program. Being older than dirt, this was not available when I went to school or when my children were in school. The way we handled this was send the lunch money or send them a sack lunch. With 4 children, I worked 2 jobs and my husband typically worked 70 to 100 hours per week. I was raised to think nothing was free and you worked for anything you got. -
I send a lot of cards and get a lot of cards, most with personal notes I buy my cards after Christmas. Address them over the summer and mail them the Wed. before Thanksgiving. It always amounts to over a hundred, so it takes me long time to get it done. I only buy cards that say Merry Christmas. None of that Happy Holidays junk for me.

It seems to me the one in the black shirt hangs around the Dallas Walmart a lot. I have seen him there on more than one occasion. I do not even go in there much. I thought he worked there.
