  1. I promise if I see a topic on here about a tricycling toddler terror that I will jump in and defend you (and W).
  2. I can't watch anymore. (Okay, I did peek at some videos online this a.m.) It's horrifying yet humorous at the same time. I can't help thinking it's a publicity whore stunt gone horribly awry.
  3. I looked to see if you posted something first! I figured if anyone would post something, it would be you.
  4. I was a bit surprised this morning when I pulled up Google search and there was no tribute to Dr Seuss as there was last year. Anyway, today is Read Across America Day, marking the 107th anniversary of his birth. I believe that instilling a love for reading is one of the best gifts you can give a child. And Theodor Seuss Geisel certainly provided that; combining nonsensical prose with life lessons that appealed to the child in all of us. When I was a kid I read just about everything I could get my hands on. I checked out the limit of books at the local library and exchanged
  5. I forgot to add the link! http://www.getoutdoorsgeorgia.org/programs/index.asp?programId=6 My brain is on vacation.
  6. This page will give you info about the park programs. It's called the Library Park Pass Loan Program (halfway down the page)
  7. When you post those pictures I get over my homesickness really fast! We do need the rain though.
  8. I thought I was the only one who was freaked out by those turkey buzzard things. One day last week I was outside taking out the garbage and there were 3 of them sitting up in a tree. They were huge! I definitely felt outnumbered; so much so that I went looking under the deck for some sort of weapon so I could make it back inside. All I could find was a fly swatter and a half can of spray paint.
  9. Okay. 'Cause everybody knows that demands for money will not be taken seriously unless you put it in writing.
  10. One time at a store some lady parked right in front of the cart return thing. I was walking my cart over to put it in there and she actually moved her car up to block it further! So I parked my cart next to her driver's door, gave her a big "thumbs up!" and walked back to my car. As I was pulling out of the lot I saw her climbing over her console to get out of her car....I giggled like a fool all the way home.
  11. I know....no purchase necessary to win! I was always skeptical of this claim. I can't tell you how many useless magazines I have bought over the years. My faith in truth in advertising has been restored. Congrats!
  12. Well I don't know you so I can't ask you to share. So can I have the hundreds of dollars worth of useless magazines that you must have bought?
  13. Can't be much help...my daughter was 12 before I gave up single motherhood again. Been together 20 years and now we mostly just argue about <him> overfeeding the dog. But good advice here. Sleep deprivation is the pits; hope it gets better soon.
  14. That was a very cool video. Thanks. I've heard of these albino deer before, but had never seen them. Beautiful and unique.
  15. Many thanks for the additional links, Pog and Monkeytail. I love looking at these pictures and reading about the history of some of these places. If I hadn't let my fearless sense of adventure expire long ago I would so be doing this whole urban exploration thing! Unfortunately, my one and only brush with the law when I was in my early teens was "exploring" an abandoned mansion one night with a few friends....with flashlights no less. Luckily the cops realized we meant no harm and sent us home. And I'm afraid my natural clumsiness would inhibit my chances at being a successf
  16. I do understand what you mean, but on the other hand I've always thought that if a house or a building has a history that is known to you or there are some are objects left behind by people who once resided there, then sometimes it's as if the life that was once there was merely....suspended? Hard to explain really. There's a photo in this gallery that made me gasp. Look for the "slippers". http://www.forbidden-places.net/urban-exploration-hudson-river-state-hospital#gal Oh, they're not creepy. Anyway, I saw that cookie pic. Payback.
  17. When I was a kid and we moved from the city to L.I., we lived not far from Creedmoor State Psychiatric Hospital. I remember passing by there many times and being fascinated by the secretive nature of the place. Our next move landed our family a few miles from another State Hospital Greystone Park in NJ. As kids, it was one of those "forbidden" places that we just had to check out every chance we got. I believe it was in the early 70's that some of the residents there were starting to be released to work during the day and would often ride the same public service bus that we rode to school.
  18. Seriously. Kroger has these frosted cookies (yum yum) in their bakery aisle...that's the first thing I go for when I know I really should be grabbing those carrot sticks. Of course, I could just stop buying the dang cookies.
  19. Just saw where Dish Network is offering for existing customers free Starz and Encore East channels until Feb 2012. We're celebrating 30 years in business.... to say thanks, we're giving you 7 Starz premium movie channels and Encore East at no additional cost until February 2012 Starz channels 350 to 356 and Encore channel 340 Pretty cool. I love Encore. They show some great classic older movies. edit: fixed it. All customers get this.
  20. Shorts worn with knee high socks on men. Does not apply if wearing a kilt. Actually knee socks in general freak me out. (former catholic school girl)
  21. We planted a few hundred (I know!) spring bulbs last fall. I can't wait for them to start popping up. We've been wanting to get our front lawn redone with sod but everyone just uses it for a dog park now. Oh, wait...that's the other thread.
