  2. Was Obama there? Was that him singing background on "Under the Boardwalk"? I don't have all that much to give these days, but I do believe in giving to those truly in need. Especially to places like the Red Cross. They get a lot of criticism, but they are always there when something happens. So it is nice to see people helping people out. It's needed. (Man, I'll be so glad when Nov 6th comes and goes)
  3. Coming Together benefit for Hurricane Sandy victims. I spent a good part of my late teens in NJ and it's painful to see the destruction. Especially the Jersey shore. Oh the summers I spent there! Asbury Park, the Stone Pony those were some crazy days. Nothing like what you see on TV...those knuckleheads on that show just make me ill. But a salute to 2 Jersey boys that I will never forget...
  4. I'm almost certain that she checked out long before anybody ever heard of her.

Johnny, I've wanted to come by and see you but I have been fighting off some kind of weird virus for weeks. Even though I am probably not contagious (except maybe to myself) I don't think it would be appreciated. I first met you in 2005 (early April?) when you were trying to fix up the old place after the fire. I have to tell you that I walked into that place a total stranger to you and your family; but I walked out with a feeling of having met some of the warmest people I've ever met in my life. As the days passed I came to realize what a privilege it was for me to be able to help in so
  6. The display by the fans in the stands was shameful. Some people just really need to stay home and watch on tv if that's how they act when they get a few beers in them in public. When it was all over and the Braves were leaving the dugout, Kimbrel was sitting there by himself and when he got up to leave I swear he had tears in his eyes. Everybody in the room started shouting "There's No CRYING in baseball!!" (of course) But I felt kind of bad for the kid.
  7. For what it's worth...I think she did a good thing. The station gave her the okay to "editorialize" and she went with it. Whether the email was bullying or not doesn't really matter in my mind. It was an excellent teaching moment. One that more people should utilize. And she has just as much right to speak out as the rude guy who wrote the email. And she was right. Parents watching the news...commenting on the person's excess weight...kids going to school and calling another child "fat". Absolutely spot on...and very well put. Most of us can remember being bullied in one way or
  8. Oooooh! Send him over to my yard. I used to see one or two but not lately. Chip and Dale and Alvin and Theodore (and extended family) are overrunning my yard.
  9. Unless of course you've seen it before. Great commercial! http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=22984504&server=vimeo.com&show_title=0&show_byline=0&show_portrait=0&color=00adef&fullscreen=1&autoplay=1&loop=0
  10. Seriously, Pubby? Cultist illogic? I don't know everything, but I know this much: Sometimes some people are just assholes and need to exert control over other people. That is what abuse is about after all - control.
  11. To my knowledge, company was restarted under a different name. It's a very common thing. New name, a spouses name listed as officer...no big deal. I've known of companies that have operated under up to a dozen different names. Too many complaints? Start over. This was always one of my pet peeves. I believe that consumers have a right to know who the person is that they are letting into their home to do any kind of service is. I have always thought that any "service" company that works in peoples homes should be somehow regulated /licensed. Mandatory training, high start-up fees, license
  12. Holy crap. I saw this on the news last night. I know of these people, because of the type of business they have had. Really, really sick.
  13. I saw a spider on the bedroom ceiling this morning....went to get a tissue to smoosh him with and when I came back he was gone.
  14. Anyone going or has gone in previous years? Best method of transportation (since parking will obviously be limited)? I know two twenty - something girls going Friday night by themselves and looking for some help getting them there and back safely. Help appreciated.
  15. From this: To this: I know one thing. I'm getting too old for this. I've done remodeling before, but it was a while ago. I'm so tired I could fall asleep standing up. Tomorrow the floor, then grout the whole thing.
  16. Who installed these - what's your vote? Moron or perv?
  17. I don’t get… retractable dog leashes. The purpose of a dog leash is maintaining control of your dog, am I right? So you are at the curb, and your dog is leaving a Kennesaw Mountain sized pile of crap 15 -20 feet away in my yard. Exactly who is in control here? And I don’t get why those small dog owners are under the impression that just because Fifi only expresses demure little “pellets” that it’s okay not to pick it up. It’s still a freakin shoe magnet! If big dog owners have to walk around with a grocery bag (actually more like 3 or 4 ‘cause they always have holes) full of warm, foul s
  18. I Love Rock and Roll recorded by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (among others)
  19. I don't get it. Never heard that one before. The nuns used to tell us that the angels were bowling. Since the noise comes from the sky and all....now an earthquake I could see the devil being involved somehow.
  20. Dr Seuss was a commie, didn't you know? http://forum.goupstate.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9543&start=0
  21. Very interesting article in the MDJ http://mdjonline.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Is+lobbying+reform+on+the+agenda+of+Georgia+House+Republican+leaders-%20&id=19215652&instance=secondary_story_left_column I support ZERO gifts from lobbyists....however, I do realize that that would only happen in a perfect world and I am not naive. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement by ES that lobbying is nothing more than legalized bribery...that was good! I have worked as a Purchasing Agent both in the government and private sector. In taking the courses and training to obtain
