I can't count the times I have been asked how to do something computer related, heard someone complaining about how something with their computer/ipad isn't working right, been called on the phone asking for help with a computer issue, etc....so when I start to give phone instructions (or if I'm there in person) I get the following: I'll just deal with it later -OR- I hate to bother you with this...just let it go -OR - Just fix it next time you're here (even when I'm already there!!!!) First off, if YOU are going to deal with it later, you don't want help, etc, then why are you aski

South Paulding Graduation, Deputy Schlelcher
scoutfinch replied to flower child's topic in RECENT TOPICS
You know what you should do? Call or write the Sheriff's Office and let the powers that be know. I'm sure all too often they only hear the bad stuff; it's a nice change of pace to hear something nice. and kudos to Deputy Schlelcher!!!! -
I dont think it's mandatory, but after going to school for 12 years, you can't blame the kids and parents for wanting to have a big ceremony/celebration. I rode by Harrison High in Cobb this afternoon and noticed on their electronic sign that they were going to have their graduation ceremony streamed live on their website. I have no idea how difficult it would be to do something similar at the Paulding schools, but it might be something that could be looked at. Obviously, I know parents would want to be there live and in person, but I'm looking at it from the perspective of the elde

I agree. It just seems like for the comfort of everyone to would be easier to give each senior a set number of tickets and have the ceremony in an air-conditioned facility large enough to accommodate a crowd (I know some might have a problem with this, but my first thought would someplace like West Ridge Church.) I can certainly understand the sentimentality of having the ceremony in the school stadium, but if you have to show up 2 hours beforehand and sit in the heat just to get a good seat, sit through another 2 or more hours of the ceremony at least make it more comfortable for all involv

My post office carrier said yesterday the usps is looking for substitute carriers in this area. She said to go to usps.com, look under the careers link at the bottom of the page, click on georgia and look for the RCA listings.

If you could do anything when you grow up..

....and there's the other part of the equation! I haven't used COBOL since tech school and never had the opportunity to use Java in my previous employment. My main language is RPG and I know just barely ( and I do mean barely) enough Java to be dangerous. I know I could have taken a crash course to understand it better, but I really was not looking forward to it. And that's when I decided it was definitely time for a change. -

In high school, I really wanted to work in a doctor or dentists's office; not on the clinical side, but the administrative side. But at that time, mainframe computer programming was the hot occupation. I went to Marietta-Cobb Vo-Tech (now Chattahoochee Tech)' got a certificate in programming and did that for the next 30 years. I was laid off last year; did some serious thinking and decided I was completely burned out on programming. So I decided if I was going to have to find a new job anyway, I might as well do what I wanted. I'm going back to school to become a medical office ad -

Corporations Are Are Not For Us; They Specialize

So....if I guess I should follow this advice and buy an American made gun if I see someone carrying a gun in public so I can stand my ground....especially since I live in an unethical state. -

...I was wondering the same thing. It also appears to be expired.

Think about your credit cards, too, if you have them. If they are in both names, he can charge 'em up and leave you stuck with the bill because you are on the account. If the credit card account is in YOUR name with him as a cardholder, get him dropped off immediately. If they are in HIS name with you as a cardholder, see if you can get a separate account in your name and what you need to do to have your name removed from his credit card accounts. Sorry you're going thru this.

Just out of curiosity...how would he know? I mean, do you have to tell the school who you are bringing? I can understand his point, but I'm just trying to figure out how he could actually enforce it.

Anyone using the Meals On Wheels Program for Seniors?
scoutfinch replied to SushiBoofay's topic in RECENT TOPICS
When my husband did a stint as a long distance trucker, I did the same thing as your mom. I hated cooking for one and dinner usually consisted of a sandwich and chips or a lean cuisine/healthy choice meal. I know looking back, part of it was depression and part of it was just not wanting to mess the kitchen up. I know you said she won't go to the senior center, but I thought they have a van that will do a pick up. Even if she is not eligible for the meals on wheels program, maybe just getting out and being with other people will help...if nothing else just to sit and have coffee and tal -
I am so very sorry about your situation. Just know that it's not your fault; I'm sure you've done the best that you can do and no one should have to go through what you're going through.

I did a google search and found two other things you might want to try: Toothpaste (regular paste..without gel) Hand sanitizer (sprayed onto a cloth, then rub it onto the wall; not sprayed onto the wall directly)

When you call the water dept this is what they will tell you to this: Make sure the dishwasher, washing machine, etc are off, no one is showering or using the bathroom....if all is clear step outside, lift the top off the meter and make sure the little guage pointer is not spinning. If it is (and you're sure everything is off) you got a leak. If it's not, they can adjust your bill. This happened to me several years ago; they just did an average over the prior three months and that's what I paid.

I know you said not a necklace, but what about a locket with one if her senior pictures etched in; see Pictures on gold for an idea of what it looks like; walmart offers something similar and more moderately priced.) Other ideas: start her a charm bracelet with a Pandora charm. Or maybe a tennis bracelet.

You might want to do a double check with the DNR...about three years ago a friend of mine did something similar and received a ticket on Carter's Lake because the watercraft was unregistered. He told the ranger it was exempt and the ranger told him that any modification made to allow it to become "mechanically propelled" made it unexempt. -
I checked out that page last night. Dang! They have some fun stuff planned! Wish I was a senior......

Actually, rather than pouring one cup of batter in each pan, it looks like you could bake it as you would a regular cake, then slice each layer in half (or thirds...depending on how thick the baked layers are) and achieve the same result. It looks delicious!!!! Let me know how it turns out!

I'm sure the libraries and/or Barnes and Noble will be doing a story hour during the week. Check out the theatre because they usually do a special for kids movies once a week.
