To SPEED THINGS UP, I'M CHANGING SKINS
GoodNeighbor replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Maybe LPPT or someone at the office could compile a list of commerce members with services that could be helpful to flood victims. Since the ads won't be showing as much we could help to keep the forum bumped. You could start with carpet cleaning (I can't remember the guy's name) and Xtreeme Tree works. I wonder if Subby could offer to work on well pumps that may have been hit by lightning. -
What kind of meat do you have to cook?

There's a pic of what used to be Paulding's Denton Road on ajc.com. It is completely washed out.
-
It's not redneck. It's what makes the South so good. It's called being neighborly. My dad did the same thing. He would get out in the snow and take groceries to family and friends. He's see strangers walking with sacks full of groderies and give them all a ride home. God, I wish we still lived in a time where it was safe to do that.
-
You should have taken pics. I would love a before and after shot.
-
Go to AJC.com and look at the picture on the front page. It's a Paulding house with the first floor almost completely under water. If you to to the slideshow on wsb-tv.com you can see multiple pics.
-
Hubby said everything right there is closed and most is under water. Police must have let someone through to open Rodney's. I'm not sure if he's serving breakfast to all or if he's just feeding the officers. Either way, good for him.

Now might be a good time for Bingo! Today is a perfect example of why you should become a paying member. I can't imaging how slow things are for those dealing with flood control.

There are a lot of low areas on the EW connector. I would call 511 and ask first.
-
I am sooooooo glad I filled my coffee maker before I went to bed last night.

How to find out if certain roads are open?

I'm waiting for someone to call the 511 Georgia Navigator line. They should be able to give you all the details you need. -
Hubby's business is right there. He's heading over to check out the damage. With all the road closings I doube he'll make it anywhere near there. I told him to take pics. so maybe I'll have some to share. We're just worried about the employees. They live on location.
-
I see a lot of people asking about road closings. Have you tried Georgia Navigator from the DOT? If you call 511 and tell them your route they are supposed to be able to tell you if there are any problems. I don't need to go anywhere so I'm not going to call and take up an operator's time but if some of you try please come on an post whether or not they are helpful.

It doesn't surprise me they're out. We use Waste Management and the guys are super. If a piece of paper falls out of a can they guys make sure they stop the truck to pick it up. I bet they end up spending their morning helping people instead of just focusing on picking up garbage. -
Yes. I'm praying too.

Tomorrow will be one of the LONGEST days EVER!

I'm glad to hear of your story. It is because of stories like yours that I decided to donate my father's long bones when he passed away. The people at Life Link told me they had specialized craftsmen who could carve parts of the long leg bones into vertebrae for adults and the long arm bones into vertebrae for children. If his donations were able to help even one person walk again it was all worth the agony of making the decision. I am soooooo happy things are working out for your child. Keep these stories coming. People need to hear them. -
With ALL this rain and flooded roads...

Where are you? Do you need help? -
Holy Crap! I've never heard of that. I think I'll move my kid's bed away from the windows.
