  1. Well, at least someone from PETA has some humor.
  2. Sorry, but I can't imagine this making it on my list of things to worry about. By the way, you can buy stamps from the cashier when you go through the line at most grocery stores. You just have to ask for them.
  3. ::slowlyraisingaguiltyhand:: I'll admit I've done a very watered down version of this. One of my children refused to stay in her car seat. She figured out how to release the latch and as soon as the car was in motion she was pulling a Houdini. Each time I went anywhere I found myself having to pull over every mile or so to re-buckle her and "explain the consequences!" Nothing I did phased her. She thought it was a game. I was at my wits end. My BIL worked for CCPD so finally, I drove to the police station, called him, and he sent a uniform out to give her a different authoritativ
  4. I wouldn't hold my breath. This is being done by the HS football coach. If cheerleading wants something like this their HS coach will have to step up. Or, If you really want this you'll probably have to find a parent volunteer to coach the girls and hopefully the football coach will be willing to work with that person to accommodate them at the games. Afterall, since most people thing we are "trying to be like Cobb," that's the way Cobb middle schools do it. The parent volunteer/coach works with the HS cheer coach and uses "retired" uniforms. Good luck.
  5. That is so nice of you to do this. I never received any plants from her but if I had I would be the first to offer them back. You seem to be a treasured friend to her.
  6. There is an individual in 92 just across the Cobb/Paulding line selling arrangements. I brought two this weekend that were $40.00 each. They were much prettier than I've seen in Muchael's and even in local floral shops. They had large, small, and even saddle arrangements. The color selection was beautiful.
  7. My mother in law just got out of the hospital because her sodium and potassium levels were so low she was halucinating. The Dr. restricted her fluid intake. Apparently, the "flushing" of fluids through the system decreases the amount of time potassium has to be absorbed into the system. In no way am I a Dr., but I'm just relaying what she was told.
  8. I don't know of anything over the counter. Are you worried your's may be too high or too low. If you're worried about it being too low you might want to cut back on the amount of water you are drinking. I have to tell you. I think I must have woke up with my eyes crossed this morning. When scanning by this post's headline I thought it said "Checking Possum Levels." Huh? Maybe I'll just treat myself to another cup of coffee.

    Oprah

I never heard anything mentioned about the girls in the family. Oprah showed a family portrait that included a couple of daughters. Were they mistreated? How did they escape the torture? I didn't watch the whole episode so did anyone else hear anything about the girls?
  10. How devastating. God bless them.
  11. I hate to suggest this because I know I'll get bombed but here goes... How about getting kindergarten out of public schools and back into daycares? Most parents don't feel their child is ready for "big" school at this age anyway. I've heard many wishing it was half days. A huge amount of parents don't feel comfortable putting their kindy student on the bus or allow them to ride the bus for field trips. So, why have them there if they aren't ready or fully participating? Imagine the money the state would save. I'm not sure but is kindergarten mandatory or can parents still wait to e
  12. My kids don't want to go to school this morning. They say it's too sad. Both of my middle schoolers have teachers who won't be returning. Yes, they saw the teachers crying at school. The girls attending this week's cheerleading clinic to get ready for tryouts were called to the office and told that it was all cancelled. You can bet they were crying too. Yesterday was filled with emotional everything. I can't imagine what these teachers will have to go through to re-recreate a learning environment for the remainder of the year. Oh yeah -- Happy Teacher Appreciation Week. I unders
  13. Salmon steaks -- any leftovers will go on a salad for tomorrow's lunch.
  14. Mariettr Fish Company -- it's my oldest baby's birthday.
  15. I always love bookmarks but my all time favorite made at school gift is a pot/pan rest. The kids took a ceramic tile and painted their name, Happy Mother's Day, and the year on it. Then, they put self-adhesive no-scratch tabs on the back. My daughter made one in 2001 and I use it almost every day. It's one of my most treasured kitchen items. As a matter of fact, I used the colors on it as inspiration when I was choosing paint for my kitchen remodeling.
  16. Lockheed has junior accounts that aren't exactly what you're looking for -- but close enough. A student can open a savings account and with it they will receive an ATM card. At a certain age the account will automatically bump into a checking account and the individual will be able to get checks and a check card. They told me that legally, you cannot have a credit card, checks, or check card until you are 18 because your signature does not become legal until that time. I think they are offering 5% interest on the first $500 in the account and the offer is good until the end of the mont

  18. I think they only do that if you use a debit card. They have to pre-verify your card for a certain amount and then your back puts a hold of that amount. Imagine if you only had $75.00 in the bank and you put $10.00 of gas in your car then you went to the grocery store and couldn't use your debit card because of the hold from the gas station. You can get as much as you want with a credit card.
  19. Has anyone checked the tax records to verify the landlord owns the property?
  20. We're always on the go so I've migrated to quick and easy recipes. Chicken Florentine (at least that's what I tell my kids ) I simply bake a couple boneless chicken breasts. When done I cover them with TGI Friday's spinach artichoke dip and serve it all over angel hair pasta. Spanish chicken strips I cover chicken strips with Progresso Cheese Chicken Enchilada soup and bake. Then I shread it to use for chicken tacos. They're also good to put in a wrap or serve with mexican rice.
  21. If I get hot while I'm sleeping I have nightmares. Try turning down the air or sleeping with a fan. At one point I would shower before bed and sleep with my hair wet. That was the only way I could keep cool enough to avoid the nightmares.
  22. The only way to stop it is to fence and passcode the courts or have constant security. I was in another neighborhood watching a tennis match this past weekend and some of the parents were talking about having the same problem with their basketball courts. They said the worst part was the loud music and foul language. The police were called and eventually informed the HOA that it is a widespresd problem. Apparently, there are a couple websites and groups that people join to plan the "court invasions." By the way, I was viiting Deer Run West subdivision. Also, the "invaders" I'm talki
  23. Sorry, but the only thing that works for me is to go to the Dr. and get a shot.
