  1. Well, how is he different? Better or worse? Sometimes being forced to accept responsibility can do wonders for a person. I call it self-inflicted tough love.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am-Y5DVjZIAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am-Y5DVjZIA It's so funny I had to add it twice! This is one song I bet the school admins. wouldn't mind hearing in the halls.
  3. OOh. OOh. OOh. I know where you can get one! I just saw one yesterday at the Home Depot Clearance Center on the East/West Connector. I didn't look for the price but I'm sure you could get a good deal right now. When you go in the door, turn immediately to your left and you can't miss it.
  4. The days of people being taught to have consideration of others are long, long gone. We live in a MEEEEEEE society.
  5. I just loved that guy. Now I think I'll enjoy a glass as I steam in the tub. The hubby has football so I'll have a good smut book and a beverage.
  6. wine, chicken parmesan, wine, pasta, wine, steamed brocolli, wine, garlic bread, wine
  7. Thanks CE. I'm not home to get the call.
  8. I went once and wasn't impressed by the quality. Some of the stuff had good designs (especially for kids) but the material wasn't worth the savings. My mom gave in to one of my daughter's pleas of certain death without a new set of sheets with zebra print. Now that she has them she won't sleep on them and calls them the "sand paper" sheets. I've tried an over abundant amount of fabric softener and dryer sheets on them but my daughter still insists they should have been sold at Home Depot.
  9. It's not the fact that it's "far up." Its far up and BACKWARDS!
  10. OK you win!!! I went to the store just to get some flour tortillas. I'll let you know how they turned out tomorrow night. I'm looking forward to it.
  11. I think the school systems announcing they will have early release are sooooo smart. As long as they have school until noon it's counted as a full day and no time has to be made up. If they close at 12:00 it gives the buses time to get the kids home before the white stuff kicks in. The best part is working parents already know and can start making phone calls to schedule pick up or after school arrangements.
  12. That's one of the many reasons I love my IPhone.
  13. Do you have a wet/dry vac to get up the excess water? How about a dehumidifier? If not, you can check to see if HD rents those too. What are you trying to thaw, everything, or just a few small items? If it's something small you might be able just to hold a hair dryer to it. Just make sure all the electrical cords are free from the water. You don't want to turn into a crispy critter.
  14. Well, no matter what you do there will be someone who'll find something to complain about. While I take personal responsibility for my child, I tend to trust the schools on this one. One of the positive things I can say about Paulding BOE is they have made very good choices with regard to weather. Remember the floods in September? Paulding closed while Cobb stayed open. Remember all those Cobb kids trapped in the flooded school? If school is open I will send them in. But, if I see it starting to get nasty I'll go pick them up without waiting for the official word. I don't have
  15. There are prayers and postitve thoughts headed her way. I had a very good friend who went through this in high school. As a matter of fact, I believe she was the same age as your niece. Just like your niece, she wore the halo and the brace. It won't be as bad for her as you may think. She's probably already used to physical difficulties and the odd looks from strangers. She will probably handle all of this enormously better than you or I could. After the surgery my friend was a completely new person. Everything went perfectly. Even though she was beautiful before the surgery she
  16. Make sure you go tomorrow (Wednesday). Publix has whole chickens on sale for 69 cents/pound. That is a great deal. I bought 4 yesterday and tossed them in the freezer. My kids love it when I cook rotisserie chicken. For some reason an extra chicken is always a good thing.
  17. Show off! Just kidding. I'd love to make real dumplings.
  18. I cheat and make it the easy way. I put a whole chicken (minus the giblets) in a pressure cooker, add just enough broth to cover the chicken, then I cook it. When the pressure valve has rocked for 15 minutes I place the whole pot in the sink and cool it with cold water until the pressure seals pop back in. Then I take the chicken out of the pot and pick all the meat off the bones. I add the meat back to the broth and return it to the heat. Lastly, I spoon in the Bisquick mixture or drop in (please don't kill me) pinched off pieces of canned biscuit dough. It will rise on its own and y
