The popcorn at the mall theater in Douglasville is always stale. We even took it back after 3 bites and hubby waited for a fresh bag, got it right off the popper, and it was still stale. I'll stick with the M&Ms.

The only issue I had with this year's supply list is the portable 3-hole punch the teacher wants every student to have. Really? The teacher doesn't have a 3-hole punch the students can use? It's bad enough that there's no textbooks at all in one class, but a hole punch?

Just found this, looks like animal tornadoes are real! http://weather.yahoo.com/-real-life-animal-tornadoes--175914665.html

Because it's August 1.

First day of school! I'm ready for my oldest to get back to school but dreading the increased traffic and the chaos of trying to buy school supplies tomorrow (the supply list on the district website is horrible) but ready for the routine. My oldest, on the other hand, is dreading it!

South. It's on the right after you go past downtown Hiram, where 92 starts to widen back out. Pat's is in a tiny house kinda behind the gas station.

College students with out-of-state IDs vote for their home state via absentee ballot or early voting. My best friend has been pursuing her doctorate at an out-of-state school for 10 years and has absentee ballot-voted every time. I, too, have had to show photo ID every time I've voted and haven't had a problem with it.

How low do you have to be in your career to be approached by SyFy to star in one of their movies? I think I'd just retire--or call Dancing With The Stars.

I hate "it is what it is" with a passion. My manager mixes up common phrases all the time and it's all I can do not to correct her. She'll say "to human is to err" and "half dozen in one" without the added six in the other.

Congrats! Don't look for "wedding" dresses because that word makes anything go up in price, but check the other stores people mentioned. I was also going to mention Pat's off Hiram Sudie and 92.

The only drawback to the French door fridge (freezer on bottom) is a serious lack of freezer space. Ours has the ice maker in the fridge door so it's not taking up freezer space, but the freezer is still cramped. We bought a stand-up freezer to keep in the garage for our extra freezer items. Gotta justify that Sam's Club membership! Oh, and our appliances are all black.

I don't think Ruth's Chris has prime rib on their menu. Rafferty's, nah, too generic. I refuse to eat steak at Longhorn's, especially in Hiram, because they've never cooked it right and the one time they came close it was a horrible cut of meat. I've heard about the place in Rockmart and would love to try it. I've also heard Strips in Atlanta is supposed to be good.

I usually get the supplies on the list (even splurge and get the three-pack box of Kleenex and Germ-X) because I know people can't always buy their own. I get the red and yellow and blue folders with the pockets and the packs of college-ruled paper and plain yellow #2 pencils. I hope the list gets a little less structured in middle and high school where he can pick a Falcons folder instead of whatever color is on the list. I think we can all agree that schools need more money and teachers and bus drivers need to be paid much better.

Run to Austell and drop it off at Caraustar (formerly Austell Box Board). They buy cardboard and recycle it.

We're actually exploring this route ourselves. Like someone said earlier, anything over 49ccs requires a motorcycle license so keep that in mind. Scooters can range from little Vespa-looking things that putt along at 35 mph to 650cc Suzuki Bergman that can reach 90 easily and carry a passenger. We're leaning toward the Honda Forza, it's brand new this year and hasn't even been released to US stores yet. It's 300cc, so plenty of power for around town and even short bursts on the interstate. Most smaller scooters aren't good for the interstate because you can't get up to or maintain interst

Theoretically the extra supplies are for those that can't afford their own. Either that or they really do use 10 glue sticks in a year. The Clorox wipes are for cold/flu season to wipe off desks because parents send kids to school sick. Still trying to figure out the ziplock bags. . .

I just always thought it was funny that the funeral home operates the county ambulance service. If business is slow at the first place, do they drive slower in business 2?

Our season pass was a combo pass for Six Flags and White Water and it cost less than a single day admission to both parks--plus free parking at both parks! Kroger also has discount tickets.

Aunt Catfish's. Go to the Speedway and look around, take the track tour. They closed the main part of the museum to the public but some parts are still open. Some parts of the actual beach are open for cars to drive on so make sure you're paying attention to which part of the beach. You can also rent bikes and scooters and little banana bikes to ride on the beach. Also check out Ponce Inlet lighthouse and go south to Cocoa Beach and visit Ron Jon Surf Shop.

My dad says "what in the Sam Hill!" when he's mad. A personal favorite, and I still use it, is "Homey don't play that game"

Or "Well, I tell you what" with nothing following it.

What about the spiders? They seem to like my bathroom but I don't like them.

How much are we paying for the studio in Hiram and how many movies/TV/commercials/music videos/anything have been made there?

Fish and chips?
