Okay. He's in 6th grade so I don't know if the junior programs would be for him or not. He played rec ball years ago and their registration process was usually this time of year. When middle schools did have sports 6th graders couldn't play so I may have to resort to rec ball. His BFF is in 7th and wants to play baseball so they'll be heartbroken to be separated. Thanks.

Okay, oldest is in middle school and wants to play baseball. Since middle schools no longer have sports programs and youth sports stop at his age, where can I find out about the high school junior sports? We're in district for Hiram HS so I'm guessing he'd be a junior Hornet. I've Googled and the junior website is "under construction." Anybody know how I can find out about sign ups or tryouts? Thanks!

There's a saying that everyone has a Doppelgänger
J'smom replied to Blondiega1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah, some were kinda freaky, some not so much. My issue is this: the photographer found stranger that looked alike. Call me silly, but if I've never met someone I'm not too keen on snuggling and getting touchy-feely with them like in these pictures. -
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back off the teacher attacks! All the OP was saying is teachers/bus drivers/all state employees were forced into ONE choice for health insurance this year, the BCBS HRA with a high deductible. About half of our patietns are state employees and I haven't had a single one say they're happy with it. They'd had choices in previous years, not only among providers but also plans, and this year that choice was completely taken away. Plus, previously covered services are now paid out of pocket until that deductible is met. Allergy shots were paid 100% but now are paid out of po

Yes, address is another patient identifier that's being used. I work in a doctor's office and when we call insurance companies for a patient we have to verify the pt's name, DOB, and address (plus the MD name, address, phone, and fax number, and NPI). I got a call from a billing office once, they asked to speak to me about an "important business matter" and when I asked what it was related to, she wouldn't tell me unless i verified it was me. We went about three rounds of this before I finally said it really was me.

Healthcare professionals have to use the American Heart Association so check their website.

Okay, that bird creeped me out with the head turning, as it rotated and the "neck" never really moved. It seemed a little too much like The Exorcist. And yes, I'd throw that thing out the window. My ex-FIL did buy that stupid singing bass mounted on the wall. He bought two of them, actually--one for the camper and one for the house.

Well, dang. Somebody took their snarky pills over the weekend. Anyway, my 1700 square-foot house has the emergency heater on, set to 73, and it's only 68 inside the house. I can only imagine how cold it is inside those school buildings that have been pretty much closed for 2 weeks. The news just did a segment on vehicle problems with the extreme cold; in addition to cars just not starting due to battery issues, there's also cracked radiators due to the cold. Yes, everybody needs a jacket, and no, not everybody has a big heavy jacket. Stay inside and snuggle under the blanket and get back

My ex-FIL owned his own business doing construction-related work (when it was in full swing). He went to a Dodge dealership in Marietta after work, still in his dusty jeans and work shirt. The sales guy kept steering him toward the older, higher-mileage trucks and wouldn't show him a new one. Ex-FIL finally yelled at him, in front of the manager, and told him he had a quarter of a million dollars in the bank and wants a new (two-word expletive) truck and stomped off. Sales guy was running after him but stopped chasing him when ex-FIL turned onto 41. He went to the dealership next door and

Church's in Douglasville is NASTY and greasy. Mrs. Winner's had the best but they had to go and close. Anyway, Kroger probably has the best fried chicken, and Folks has pretty good chicken too.

Prayers for the family. I can't imagine being in their shoes. There are very specific reflexes that are checked to make an official declaration of brain death, so it's not a random thing each doctor does differently. Yes, the heart may be beating on its own because it has its own electrical system, but without brain activity nothing else is going on automatically. Heartbreaking.

My oldest niece started out 9th grade knowing which specific field she wanted to go into, and it's not one of the offered career paths at PC. She wound up taking science and math classes to stay as close as possible but was forced to select a career path, so she got cosmetology. That was full so she was forced into a food services elective her freshman year--and hated it. The teacher was very rude and pulled her out of a different class to confront her on something in the hall. She's now a senior and can't wait to get out of high school and get started on her real career path--meteorology.

I believe it. When my grandfather died I was in LA (California) and had no idea he had passed. I was alone in the bathroom and heard him humming/singing like he always did. When I got back home from LA I found out he had died and asked my parents when--it was the exact same time that he passed. It was his way of saying goodbye since I was on the other side of the country. My mom has musical angel statues and one came on by itself when no one had been near it for hours and hadn't touched it in several weeks--that was my grandmother saying hey.

And, something you didn't see in country music--naked girls dry-humping Robin Thicke or getting down with a foam finger, licking a hammer, or wearing a meat suit!

Eating peanuts while pregnant reduces nut allergies in children
J'smom replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I didn't eat lunch meat while pregnant (heck, for a few months I couldn't eat anything!) but when I could eat I did eat peanut butter. I would like to add, please, if you or your child is allergic to nuts, especially peanuts, DO NOT take a dose of benadryl then eat it or feed it to them and think it'll be okay! I've heard several patients tell me they do that, a few of them tell me that during their ER follow up visit, and it's so dangerously wrong and stupid. Peanuts are the most fatal food allergy, and just because your child "only has hives for a minute" doesn't mean it won't turn into a -
Drive down Camp Creek Pkwy and do a park and fly thing. They pick you up at your car, take you directly to check-in, and when you get on their bus from baggage claim they take you right back to your car. We've done that for taking trips and just picking up/dropping off people.

I'm sorry you got Grinched. Hubby and I were driving around a big neighborhood a couple of years ago, looking at the decorations, and we noticed someone had positioned the wire lighted reindeer in a "compromising" position. We snickered, then noticed it was several different houses and some were just plain raunchy and I knocked on one door to let the homeowner know. Apparently some kids were rearranging the reindeer at least once a week and that person had already replaced one deer because the motor burnt out when the reindeer head couldn't move (antlers caught in legs, it was ugly). Thought the video was quite funny personally, and if you watch it's only showing 4-5 songs/videos in that entire mash-up, and there were a LOT more songs released than that this year! Anyway, I love country, everyone from Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash to George Strait and Alan Jackson and Clint Black and Garth Brooks to Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw and Luke Bryan. There's the classic country, southern rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd anyone?), ballads, and the newer country. Yes, Garth did bring more pop fans over to country but that's because he's got a way with music and is an amazing

Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Suspended Indefinitely
J'smom replied to kcarlsonlpn's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was watching Good Morning America to see what they'd say about the controversy. They really hyped it up, saying the remarks were too vile to even say on a morning TV show, and one of their experts was saying that Phil's remarks were offensive not only to gays but also to blacks, Latinos, and Hispanics. I've read his comments and didn't see any racial remarks, or am I missing something? Why are networks so quick to drop their biggest stars for saying the wrong thing--Food Network with Paula Deen, A&E with Phil, who's next? Maybe I'll buy a Chick-Fil-A sandwich and eat it in honor of Ph -
Two words: Dan Cathy. The son of Chick-Fil-A founder Truett Cathy was horribly attacked when he made similar comments--in an interview with a religious magazine! Opinions are only correct if they don't offend Hollywood.

I'd say California, but that's a whole different planet so it wouldn't really fit in the state category.

Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Suspended Indefinitely
J'smom replied to kcarlsonlpn's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It bothers me when someone expresses a Christian belief and is immediately vindicated for it. Any other group can speak an opinion but we can't. Hmm. Anyway, the star of a reality TV show spoke his opinion and is now suspended from appearing on camera, when the reality TV show is supposed to show their daily lives? Phil is only acceptable when it coincides with what the network wants? Yeah. -
How is someone supposed to maintain food stamps...
J'smom replied to monochromer's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah, this turned nasty in a hurry. Anyway, a coworker of mine, working full-time, is on food stamps. She is just below the line and her live-in fiance is unemployed. -
There's a Workout Anytime or 24/7 Fitness or something like that next to Food Depot on 92 and Brownsville Rd. Not sure of any details.

Let's look at it this way: guy comes running into the store yelling "my car's on fire!" and the employee shakes his head, says "sorry, I can't leave my post" and does nothing--what kind of fuss would be raised then?
