  1. Sure hope the little girl who got hit by the falling speaker stand is ok. The wind just took it right over on her
  2. And HEADS UP to mountain bikers on the Silver Comet Trail.... you also share the "off road" with horses, so be alert.
  3. Cranberry Red! So are the shutters. Looks good on our gray house.
  4. Even closer: http://www.lakeallatoonainn.com/Main.php?Page=RoomRates - Right on the lake, lovely place, awesome breakfast. Only 10 mins to downtown Cartersville. Eat at The Appalachian Grill. Mmmmmm Tellus Museum Interesting, along with Etowah Indian Mounds.
  5. It would appear to be a juvenile American Kestrel.
  6. Oh thank God. I knew it was getting close when I saw a line of people around the door on their Hiring Day. Whew!
  7. Adore Dr. Julie Lugar at New Georgia Animalon 61.
  8. The QT sandwich making contractor company did the same for us in Marietta (MetroAtlanta Ambulance). We got 100 free sandwiches, a variety of all the types they make.... all for free to help get the word out. The Chicken Salad on Croissant was YUMMO!
  9. Sure wish the new park plans would include Horse trails. Paulding is way behind Carroll, Cobb and even Douglas with that. Dual access is very doable, even if the county were to charge $5 a day or $XXX a year for a horse trail pass.
  10. Good on you and Mr. Nitro.... united front, calm and assertive.
  11. My above suggestion is right in line with Dr. Leman's info in that book. I also work with a VP who has 2 teenage daughters (drama llama city!!) and was tired of the yelling, begging, pleading, etc. etc. Got the book, he and his wife read thru it together (so they could be a united front), applied some of the principles and -- voila'! -- no more drama, no more frustration and happy/obedient young ladies
  12. A great book is "Have a New Kid By Friday" by Dr. Kevin Leman. HIGHLY recommend it
  13. Well you just stick with this plan.... She'll catch on. Kids ain't dumb
  14. I'd take it down to the choice of 2 outfits.... Three is one too many and leaves too much room for dawdling. BUT she has 2 minutes to decide. If she fails to choose within those 2 minutes, she loses her decision making rights and YOU decide. You pick up the other outfit and then walk away. If she dresses in the one you picked, wonderful! Everyone's happy and on time. HOWEVER, if she chooses not to put it on and gives you the whining routine, you simply state: "Sweetie, I gave you 2 minutes to choose. You failed to choose within those 2 minutes, so I did. You can now choose t
  15. For take-out or delivery: Quality Chef -- Corner of Hiram-Sudie Rd & 61 (next to Food Lion). Good food, fresh, reasonably priced.
  16. For the chewing, that LEAVE IT command is key. Then once you remove from their mouth whatever they have that's inappropriate, you immediately give them Their Toy or Chewy Bone. Clear, calm commands for what's wrong with instant clear, calm approval for what's right.
  17. Ditto the above. With our English Lab, we also made sure that, when not in her crate, she was on a leash in the house, going with whoever had her at the time. Every time, I stopped, I taught the "sit" command. Everytime I moved, I taught the "heel" command. If I went to the couch, it was the "down" command. And since pups are notoriously mouthy, the "leave it" command was vital for her to learn. To this day, she can go for something on the ground and a firm LEAVE IT and COME has her turning away from it to me or dropping whatever was in her mouth. Same commands, every time, same t
  18. Probably the quarry over on Mulberry Rock Road. When they let off a big shot of TNT to blast the rock up, we feel it like a sonic boom.
  19. It is better to go through life wanting what you don't have, than having what you don't want. DON'T SETTLE FOR 2ND BEST! If you want a quality person, seek him in a quality place.
  20. We horse people have a three-letter word for handling dogs on YOUR property that are threatening: SSS which stands for Shoot, Shovel, Shutup Sorry, but any dog on MY property that bites or threatens my family or horses is soon to be no more. I have a big manure pile if you wanna compost the dog under it. I love dogs... have 2 at this time but have owned many over the years. However, I have no tolerance for vicious dogs, regardless of breed--especially when the irresponsible owner has shown totally selfish disregard for other's safety. Then you Cowboy Up and git-r-gone.
