Who's fault would this be? Doctor/Chiro Office situation...
teamchiro replied to pwilhelm's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It sounds like the table was a "decompression" table. The patient is strapped in to create the leverage needed. This is NOT a typical Chiropractic technique, and is not currently recognized by insurance. Translation - many patients are getting results, but the clinical evidence (research) is not sufficient for the insurance companies to recognize and pay for. Leaving patient unattended, is a malpractice issue. Liability may come into play if the equipment is defective, but does not seem to be the case here (with given information). We (Dr's) are liable for ALL actions taken in the office -

The case should be handled by the Dr's malpractice policy. No patient should be left unattended during their treatment. This is exactly why we have an "open" adjusting format in our office. We specialize in pediatric care, so our office is geared to the needs of a child. I know this may not be the focus of other offices. A very tragic and sad story!!! Praying for the healing of a mothers broken heart. Dr. Nicole -

Lori is resting. She is having some pain control issues, but is coping well. Due to the procedure, her ability to change positions is very limited. Joe has been able to be with her all day.

The good news is, my knee is feeling somewhat better this evening. Still slightly sore, but much better than it was. Hopefully the cortisone flare is fading. Glad you are on the mend!
-
Be careful! Cortisone will destroy the joint capsules if used frequently. The Academy of Ortho Surgeons only recommends 2 per joint per lifetime. Dr. Nicole

We probably need a tune up and blade sharpen. What type of fee would you charge? Dr. Nicole -
Ok I have a ton of things from shoes to strollers. I would prefer to NOT have to put them away. If you are interested PM me for address. If you have a ministry assisting our tornado victims these are items that may help. I'm giving it away!

Hiram Chiropractor charged in $264,000 identity theft fraud

Very damaging, but it happens in all professions. We would not have the time or space to list all of the MD's with similar issues. I am not at all defending any type of behavior, BUT this very well could have been done by an employee without his knowledge, and by GA law he takes the fall. Doctors have a large liability and and even larger responsibility to protect patients. As an Extension Faculty for Life university and Board Member of the Georgia Council of Chiropractic I am saddened for my profession. One bad MD would not cause you to never use an MD, and I hope the same would be
