  1. I just put two & two together! Didn't recognize the name on here I am one of the lucky ones in VL that has NO neighbors on either side, just 3-4 vacant lots. I am sure we may not ever get houses built near us which is OK with me!
  2. I have been in VL for 7yrs. It got pretty bad in here for a while, but has really improved in the last year or so. We used to have people come in off of 278 by the busload that didn't live anywhere near here and go to our pool. We now have a pool monitor and only the residents who have paid their HOA dues in full by the end of April or May get their amenity passes. It is wonderful at the pool now! We do have a lot of vacant houses, but I think that is a problem in any subdivision right now. The HOA dues are reasonable and are around $550 per year, that includes front lawn care (mow, edge,
  3. Dr Tackitt at OB/GYN Assoc. in Marietta & Town Lake. I have had LOTS of issues and he has helped me with all of them, including my hysterectomy last Dec. He is FABULOUS and WELL worth the drive!!
  4. Copschick, where do you go to school? I am also looking into schools to become an RN. I have a neighbor that was a Nursing Instructor at West GA Tech and speaks very highly of their ADN program. I have also looked at GA Highlands. My biggest concern is the core classes that can be taken online. I have 4 kids and right now it isn't an option to pay for daycare to go to school. In the Fall my 3 girls will all be in school so I will just be home with my son. I want to be able to take as much online as I can and then be on campus when the youngest starts school. WGT only requires a COMPASS te
  5. YAY!!! I hope she has a smooth labor & delivery! I will be stalking her fb page to see pics! Keep us posted NC!!
  6. This is a great salmon recipe: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/maple-glazed-salmon-10000000463580/ Make sure the fish you buy is wild-caught and not farm-raised, it is much healthier! http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=96 ETA: You could cook this recipe in foil on the grill if you don't want to do it in the house!
  7. When I was that age I made fire jars to raise money for a scooter. You can buy salt & chalk cheap at the dollar store and use the chalk to color the salt. If you know any one with a baby, ask for their baby food jars. Pour the colored chalk into the jar, layering different colors! These are great to keep by the stove since salt puts out grease fires!
  8. I think Kid to Kid pays upfront. The only locations I know of are Douglasville and one just opened on 41 in Acworth/Kennesaw.
  9. My yard is SO full and Bryan keeps adding more! I did my first veggies this year and will probably kill them. I can keep kids & dogs alive, but not plants!! It was really relaxing to get out there and dig in the dirt and plant! We got a lot at Lowe's, we always have better luck there than HD. Bryan will buy stuff on clearance that is almost dead and can bring them back. He definitely has a green thumb
  10. We just got a bunch of stuff from Lowe's but Elrod's has a good selection. My friend opened a nursery on 61 north called SER Greenhouses. Haven't been there yet, we have NO room to plant anymore!!
  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY and it was SOOOOO awesome getting to meet you today!!
  12. It expired yesterday I have been looking for one of these, too!
  13. Sara Ramirez who plays Callie is actually a Tony Award winner! I loved the last song she sang, about the lines on her face telling her story or whatever. Does anyone know who really sings it? I guess I am off to Google it! And I believe I heard they all sang their own parts.
  14. IMO, I think Callie should have been the only one singing, NOT the enitre cast! It was a very emotional episode and I do think they over did it in some scenes and it took away from the storyline. I love Grey's, but I hope they DO NOT do another musical again!
  15. Mine are narrow, flat and I have bunions (one has been operated on and is WORSE than before surgery.) I could wear my asics ALL day and not have foot pain. OP, I think an insert might be good, too. My oldest daughter has Sever's Disease, it's a growth plate issue and she has had to wear casts & walking boots a lot. Her orthopedist recommended heel cups for all of her shoes, They can be placed in any shoe and are about $10-$15 at any durg store/Walmart/Target. She also wears asics! Luckily the kid's sizes aren't $100!!
  16. I have a lot of foot problems and recently switched from NB to Asics. They seem to have much more cushion in them then my NB did. I went to Rack Room in Hiram and tried on EVERY pair of athletic shoe they had until I found the most comfortable for me. These are the shoes I have http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/product-detail/product.jsp?id=ASC1427&sc=CX11L046&prfc=5&cm_mmc=affiliate-_-Running%20Shoes%20Guru-_-Primary-_-na They were $100 but I had a 20% off coupon for Rack Room (which I searched online for and printed, there is one out now, they just emailed it to me!) You co
  17. I always take healthy snacks when it is my turn! I HATE it when my kids are given cookies/chips and sugary sports drinks! I usually get the capri sun roarin waters (only 9g of sugar) or small bottled waters and packs of sliced apples & grapes (purchased in the produce section of the grocery store) or baby carrots, bananas or cuties (the little clementine oranges). I have had kids refuse the healthy stuff and get junk food from their parents, usually chips & soda....SODA!? I NEVER let my kids have soda unless it's a special occasion!
  18. I can't wait to see this movie! I also got to hear them at West Ridge this past Sunday and they have really turned a tragic situation into an inspirational story that has the ability to touch thousands of lives!!
  19. I make homemade lasagna a lot, but I don't have a "recipe". I use 1lb mild Italian sausage (ground or removed from the casing) and 1lb lean ground beef or turkey. Ricotta (mixed with one egg), mozerella & parmesean cheese fresh mushrooms and sometimes spinach or shredded carrots (gotta sneak the veggies in for the kiddos!) lasagna noodles spaghetti sauce The Italian sausage gives it so much more flavor than just using ground beef!
  20. Yep, it's a cherry tree! Not sure which variety though. I LOVE cherry trees (see my avatar!) When I was little, I lost 2 grandparents within 2 years of each other. My parents planted cherry trees in their memory. When my dad passed away, we planted one in his memory! Each of my kids and my husband & I each placed a small scoop of his ashes in the hole that the tree was planted in. There is a little plaque and a bench by the tree and my daughters sit on it after school alomost every day to say hi to grandpa! There have been a lot of tears shed by that tree, but every time I look at it I thi
  21. $25/month, unlimited classes! $35/month if you need childcare...this is what I was told last week when I called. If you go to www.globalfit.com, you may be eligible for discounts at certain gyms!
  22. I appreciate everyone's input! It felt good to vent on here last night, even though I pretty much had my mind made up. My best friend wants to see my kids and she WILL!
  23. My best friend of 20 years is having a baby after trying for 2.5 years & having a lot of fertility struggles/treatments. She lives in San Diego and is coming this weekend for a baby shower. Her friend (not my friend, we have never gotten along) wanted to throw it for her and asked me to co-host and cook all of the food. I didn't mind all of the cooking responsibility, I love to cook and am more than happy to do it for my best friend!! The girl that is hosting it has no kids, I have 4. She does not want my kids at her house, apparently her husband is a health freak and runs marathons a
  24. I LOVE my Dyson, I got it at Sam's a few years ago and will never have another brand...Big Lots has them Refubished and if you sign up for something like a kroger card, they will send you 20% off coupons. Maybe that will help!
