  1. I'll be staying inside and cleaning today in the AC. Gotta get my summer cleaning done before the carpet/vent cleaners get here on Thursday. If you get lonely and want to help clean just come on over!
  2. We just got home from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and they have been lucky so far; no oil there. However, the men in the orange suits were starting to walk along the beach and pick up things that looked like it could be tar balls, but when we left they had not found any. The shrimpers are still fishing in the waters. Normally they are out far enought that you can't see them but they were all within sight so I guess they are being forced closer to the shores. It is so sad for the residents there because they have not yet recovered from Katrina and now this. It makes me terribly angry too, t
  3. My last professional learning class of the year was a class on diversity. The teacher of the class was very funny and I enjoyed the class but I also felt that it was drawing attention to our differences; how to talk to black people, asian people, etc. I am so far removed from being racist that maybe that is why I just don't get that kind of class. It seems to me, and I am just one person, that as long as we keep pointing out each others differences we will continue to see everyone as different from who we are. When we take the emotions of what happened before any of us were here out of th
  4. Does anyone know what is going on?
  5. Two years ago I sat in the rain at PCHS to watch my son graduate. I was so proud I didn't mind being wet. Congratulations to all you parents of graduates!
  6. I wear them but I am not a brand name type person so I don't have a particular brand that I like. If they look good on my face and they are polarized (I like that feature) then I am okay with them. I lose them often so I don't like to put too much money into them.
  7. It really depends on the person doing the spanking to me. I spanked my kids when they were smaller. Now they are 17 and 20 so there is not much spanking going on. The people who I left my children with were always friends or family and I trusted them enough to know that if my sons ended up with a spanking then they deserved it. I would have more of a problem with the cursing at the child. I believe that if you are going to spank a child then they need to know why they are being spanked. It should not be a get angry, scream, cuss, and spank situation. Personally, there are not many pe

  9. derate (I looked it up...it's a real word.)
  10. I have heard of them in a movie (Ghost Town) but never knew what they were exactly. It was referred to as a "girl's drink" so i would probably like it.
  11. Restraining a child is no fun for the teacher or the child. The PCBOE will only stand behind the teacher doing the restraining if the child being restrained was an imminent danger to herself or other children. If they are throwing computers, let it go...get the kids out of the classroom and try to talk down the situation. Never restrain a child if you have not been given the training to do so. The restraint is to be as short as possible and the child is being communicated with through the entire restraint. If it is done properly it can be a very good tool to deescalate a bad situation. B
  12. CORRECTION...I found a news site that said GAE said Governor Purdue would squander the money, not Paulding County. I guess I wasn't litening as closely as I thought, sorry. Anyway, GAE is lobbying against Georgia getting the money. http://www.wxia11.com/news/education/story.aspx?storyid=143661&catid=11
  13. I have been looking for it. The only news stations I ever watch are Fox 5 or WSBTV. Both the web sites have stories about the GAE not backing Georgia to get $400 million dollars of federal money.
  14. I was born and raised in Bowling Green and all my family is still there and I STILL did not know it was that bad until I watched the video.
  15. My husband was statioined at Osan AFB for a year and we were not lucky enough to be offered the opportunity for the family to go with him. That made it a difficult year. I did go visit him though and stayed for 2 weeks in an off-base hotel. The folks on here are right the smell is funky! You get kinda used to it after a while though. I found it to be very interesting and if we had been given the chance to take the kids and stay I would not have hesitated. The customs are very different but the people in town were very nice and most could speak broken english. Don't worry about the kids
  16. LOL...I don't know any that have that much time, and I know many since I am one. Paras are normally watched pretty closely as we are in classes with certified teachers most of the day. I doubt that anyone could get away with sitting and drawing all day. However, if given the extra time I might take that hobby up myself. It looks like I may need to supplement my income. Can you find out where she sells them? I might need connections.
  17. There are definitely a few ESEP paras who are not pulling their weight but getting rid of them would cut services. That would open the school up for law suits when the IEP were not followed. I do fore see the schools trying to manipulate people into requesting fewer services for their ESEP children though. If the needs are not there they can get rid of people. It will only hurt the kids though.
