  1. My son lives in a dorm with the full size kitchen and living room. They have 4 private bedrooms with private baths. He still has a small refrigerator in his room though. He likes to keep his cokes and stuff in there so that it is handy for him and no one else bothers his stuff. It looks like everyone has covered most of the other stuff needed. He still calls sometimes and says, "Hey mom, I need a ______." By the time he graduates he may have everything he needs. LOL
  2. Sounds wonderful and close to me. I will definitely stop in and try your goodies!
  3. No...I live on the 61 end.
  4. I never hear sirens when I am in my house but I am hearing them now. They sound like they are on Nebo Rd. but it sounds like a lot of them. Anybody know what is going on.
  5. I will not pray for no rain because I remember just a year ago we were praying for rain and look what we got. But, I will say, Please Lord keep everyone safe during this rain.
  6. This is such a sad story. I have no idea who the lady is but it touches me because of your description of her. It certainly shows that we never really know people, doesn't it? It should make us look at the people we come into contact with everyday and remember that even the people who look the happiest and healthiest may still need kind word or a little help from all of us.
  7. I agree. My husband is getting hazardous weather pay. He works for a VERY large company though. Since I work for the PC Schools I know we will be making these days up at some point. I think it was an innocent but logical question. I am somewhat slow in my thinking today but I didn't understand the sensitivity.
  8. Who are the people that come to the homes after floods and dry out everything with dehumidifiers and fans and stuff? About what does that cost also? I am asking for a friend.
  9. Better break out that Xanax girlfriend...school is out tomorrow too!
  10. I have not received my call faculty call yet but if you know someone at the BOE they may have the information before we do. In fact I never got a call yesterday either come to think of it. Just Sunday night, but no I havae not heard this anywhere yet.
  11. Did I miss something? All I see is the announcement that says it is closed today.
  12. I am going to risk sounding stupid because I am not sure I understand, but hey I have sounded stupid before. So are you saying that they are impounding and towing cars of people who are driving into these areas today or are they towing cars that have been left (washed) there due to the flooding? I am sure they do not want people out sight seeing and putting themselves in danger. They have plenty to deal with without adding that to the mix.
  13. I was extremely impressed and grateful. I got to see what was going on and didn't have to go out. I saw pictures of place that I know and see everyday, not what the Atlanta news channels were showing. The PCOM group, although I am sure were overwhelmed, did a super job under extraordinary circumstances!!!
  14. Pubby, the PCom staff and all of you who have posted today to keep us all informed about the road situations. Paulding.com has been a really valuable tool today for many of us. It helped me help a friend find a way home. Thanks for all the pictures and videos too. Having them on here to look at I am sure kept many curious people from going out and checking out the situation for themselves. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
  15. My family and home is all safe and dry. My creek looks beautiful and is far enough away from my home and in a deep gulley so I don't have to be scared of it. I have a day off work. I have many thinkgs to be thankful for. However, I feel a little guilty counting my blessings when I know some of my Paulding neighbors are in distress. I just wish for everyone to be safe.
  16. I'm here. House is holding tight. We are on a hill. You could actually white water raft on our creek though!
  17. I AGREE 100% Someone I care a great deal about was swept into a creek and rescued from a tree last night. Thank God for the rescue workers who saved her.
  18. I just found out through my FB page that the woman rescued from the tree on Friendship Church Rd. was someone that I know and care about. Ant though she is technically a woman she is only 19 years old. She lives on Friendship Church Rd. so I am assuming she was trying to get home . She lost her car, but she is safe. She was very scared and I am grateful to the heroes who saved her!!!! THANK YOU!
  19. We are built into the side of the top of a hill. I am hoping that since we have a solid poured concrete basement it will hold up to the waters rushing by. My main concern is all the trees around us. It would only take a little wind to push them up out of the ground at this point, but I am not even going to complain. There are so many people suffering in our county right now from flooding and I am feeling very lucky this morning. I am looking forward to daylight so that we can see exactly what we are dealing with.
