Recommendations or Suggestions for vacation to Las Vegas?
kwood replied to mom2dachs's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We got married in Las Vegas in 2008. We stayed at the Bellagio which I would highly recommend. I don't know any good tricks for finding deals. We kind of splurged. If you don't mind an expensive dinner I would recommend going to Mix, it's at the top of THE Hotel, which is adjacent to Mandalay Bay. It has the best view of the strip. We only saw one show, Mama Mia at Mandalay Bay. It was a great trip, just be prepared, it's a long walk to any other casino from the one you're staying at. You just don't realize how far apart these places are. We took a lot of cabs. -
What should we do with all the homeless and the druggies? They gotta go somewhere. I personally don't want them moving to Hiram

I think it's similar to transfer tax in Georgia.

I'm glad you've worked that out for your family. Currently if I had both my girls in full time day care it would run me $1,100 a month. So I have to weigh the free child care I have in this area against the pay that I would get in a new area. I just think making blanket assumptions that people aren't getting jobs because they don't want them in ignorant. Life is not black and white, you have to do what is best for your situation. And just because there are jobs out there, it doesn't mean that 90% of those out of work are qualified, or could make those jobs work for their situation in life.

It's not always practical to move when you have a family and children. You have to factor in who can help out with child care, and can your spouse find a new job in the city you are moving to. Technically speaking, the job I "lost" was in Birmingham, AL. I then moved back to the ATL to find work since Birmingham wasn't a big jobs area. Again, I HAVE a job, just not a great one. Real estate just isn't the greatest field to be in. I know plenty of people out of work or under employed. It's not for lack of trying to find something. They are out there pounding the pavement, the job just aren't

GEESH, that's a little too close to home for comfort.

If the price is right or I can commute from Hiram I'm not looking to relocate, which narrows the job market.

I started working at Burger King when I turned 16, I worked there part time after school and on weekends for about 3 months. To this day it is still the worst job I ever had. I would hate to have to work fast food to make ends meet. It was great motivation for going to college to get something better.

This is great, but what do you have available for a worker who has a 4 year degree in management from a major university, has a paralegal certificate, that has a real estate license in GA and TN, and that has 10 years experience working in real estate? NADA. I currently have a job, but it pays WAY less that what I should be making and has no benefits. I shouldn't complain, I'm lucky to have a job, but for someone like me I've sent out hundreds of resumes, and the only calls I'm getting back are from recruiters that want me in their database, but don't have any ACTUAL jobs to send me out to in

My in laws have a place on Lake Eufaula in south Alabama at the georgia border. The corp owns the land by the lake to a certain point. And yes there are gators in that lake. If you stop at the texaco on the way into town on 431 you can see the gators in the back.

Prices were WAY over inflated, we may never see values as high as they were. It'll be a while before we start seeing an big increase on home prices, there's still a lot of inventory out there.

A ton of activity on Macland Rd. and Poplar Springs
kwood replied to macarose's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't know where Poplar Springs is, but I was driving past a church on Macland Road yesterday afternoon, right before Lost Mountain Road, headed towards Hiram and Dallas. There had to be 50 Cobb police in the parking lot. They had a sign up saying there was a Cobb Police Training thing going on. Don't know if that's what you're referring to. -
Does it really mater who was following who? Does someone have the right to beat you "MMA Style" because you are following them? Lets assume Zimmerman was following Martin. There are those of you saying that this wouldn't have happened had Zimmerman stayed in his truck, and that makes this his fault. What about Martin? If he had kept calmly walking, or if he had turned around and addressed Zimmerman calmly there wouldn't have been a beating that Zimmerman had to defend himself from. But the truth is the only people that know what happened are the two people involved. No one knows what let to Ma

Paulding DA To Meet with Arrested Teens
kwood replied to LisaKW@bellsouth.net's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't see how it is trying to "undermine" if it is an accepted practice for them to, at least in some cases, to take multiple hours for one hour of work. However if he specifically said 400 means 400 then maybe these kids are the exception and not the rule. I'm not arguing if it's right or not. But I do know that it does take place. -
I went to stork vision in Buckhead for both my girls at 16 weeks and I would highly reccomend them. And as for being concerned about the number of ultrasounds, with my first daughter I had at least 20 different ultrasounds because I was considered high risk and both my OB and perineonatologist were having me do them quite regularly, and toward the end I was having one a week. That baby is now a healthy, happy, smart 18 month old with no signs of any ill effects. For what it's worth.

The Book Shelter in downtown Hiram generally has a box of free books outside the store. They are usually older books or books in disrepair. But I guess this is one you take from and then bring back? Why not just donate the books to the library?

Paulding DA To Meet with Arrested Teens
kwood replied to LisaKW@bellsouth.net's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Supervision services monitors the community service completed. I'm not sure how it all gets worked out I have never personally done it before. But, as an example, from what I've heard, is that at the Paulding county animal shelter you can get 2 for 1 hours. I don't know why some offer multiple hours for one worked. But it's common knowledge to those completeing the hours so I would guess its ok with those monitoring their progress. Also there are pre-approved places to work out community service. I'm not sure you can just do it at any non profit. -

They give you a list of approved places to do your service work. Some I those places will credit you multiple hours for each hour worked. They sign off on your hour sheet and you turn that in to probation services. You just have to call around and find which ones give multiple hours for each hour worked. Similar to how if you do trustee work at the jail you get 4 days credit for every one day served. -

There are places in Paulding county where you can get 2 for 1 or more hours for doing community service. So if these kids find the good community service projects they could probably get 4 for 1 and not actually have to do 400 hours. But I know someone who had approx 240 hours for multiple dui's seems like 400 is high for vandalism vs DUI -
Oh hell no! She was a scheduled c-section. I knew she was going to be big(as in over 9lbs) but was not prepared for her size. At 33 weeks they were estimating her to be the same size as our first baby at 33 weeks. Our first daughter was 8.8, but somehow this one ended up 3 plus pounds heavier. And I had gestational diabetes with my first, and not this one. So who knows.

Sorry, I should have updated we delivered our baby girl Tuesday morning she weighed 11lbs 11oz and is 21.5 inches long. They immediately took her to nicu due to low oxygen levels. She is still in the nicu because we can't get her to eat and her sugar levels aren't maintaining. They tell us this is common for babies her size and that she will be fine in the long run, but she may be in the nicu for a week or so. It will be hard to go home without her. But it is what is best for her. Thanks for thinking of us. It's been a rough couple days.

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
kwood replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I posted this a few days back. Apparently facts have no place in this discussion of guilt or innocence. It also States in the article that the voice recognition saying that the help being yelled for only had a 49% chance of being Zimmerman's I would like to know if that means that there is a 51% chance that it is martins. The media is looking like more and more of a fool jumping to conclusions and then being proven wrong. -
Student's parents hired a lawyer fighting EPHS over senior prank
kwood replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm not naive. I have seen the system at work first hand. Ive seen someone walk away from two felony charges, one was just a charge and diversion was offered, the other was a conviction where jail time was served. Both times the person was able to have their record expunged and it does not show up. I have seen the justice system work first hand in paulding county in particular. Jump through enough hoops (there will be many, and it wont be cheap) but you can make things go away. -

No one is saying they cant graduate. They just cant do it the traditional way. The da will probably reduce it to a misdemeanor or they will get a ore trial diversion program in which they jump through a series of hoops and its wiped from their record. So where is the long term damage? -

I agree, the fact that he's made so many 911 calls just goes to show the neighborhood has been experiencing a lot of crime and he is acting as a watchman. I wish my neighbors were that observant and cautious.
