There is no evidence that he was chasing after Martin. His statement says that he was walking behind him while on the phone with the police so that he could keep an eye on where he was going while waiting for an officer. No where does it say that he ran down Martin.

Martin wouldn't be dead if he would have kept walking to wherever he was going.

And in conclusion, I think this thread is a prime example as to why Zimmerman will walk due to a hung jury.

If I am guilty of nothing walking around a neighborhood at night and someone is following me, I will either call the cops my self on them, or I will get to where I am going. I will not turn around and confront a stranger.

I'm not making an assuption that Martin jumped Zimmerman. By evidence and witness statements it is shown that Martin was on top of Zimmerman beating the crap out of him. Is that not jumping someone?

You're making a lot of assumptions in that statement hos.

It's not Zimmermans fault that Martin picked a fist fight with a man who had a gun. That's why you don't go around jumping people.

They both made bad choices resulting in one being dead. That doesn't mean that the one who lived should spend the rest of his life in prison. And I believe that had Martin not attacked Zimmerman then there wouldn't have been an issue. Zimmerman was concerned about recent break ins around his neighborhood, so he was being observant of his surroundings and called the police when he saw someone he did not recognize. The other thing that gets me is in the 911 transcript Zimmerman doesn't want to give his home address because of fear of retaliation (I assume). We can go round and round on this, from the 911 transcript we have no indication that he did follow Martin. He said that he was running, and after that he talked to the operator a little longer and the operator told him we don't need you to follow him. If Martin was running (presumably away) then why was he near Zimmerman? We are all making assumptions about who followed who, who ran after who. We had a neighbor call the police on some door to door salesmen and the police came and asked them to leave since there was a notice posted. I guess they just left on their own since there is no teeth to a notice like that.
