  1. I can't believe so many people feel it should be overlooked. If there's an emergency, the car can be pulled over to deal with the baby/child. And if the emergency is true enough to where the parent/sibling truly has to remove the baby/child from the carseat, then they won't care if the cops are called on them or not and will have a legitimate reason why they did what they did...i.e. choking and could not pull over immediately because they were on a busy highway. The car I was next to last summer had no apparent reason for their baby being out of the seat. We were next to them from exit 44 at T
  2. We have lived in our house for 5 years. We have had 2 claims. One claim in 2007 that totaled about $7,000 (really think that figure was inflated) due to a toilet flooding our upstairs bathrooms and bedroom. Had the carpet in the bedroom replaced, a dresser, new flooring in the bathrooms and a new vanity. Second claim was last April from the hail storm. Totaled just under $6,000. We got that warning letter that probably goes out to everyone about avoiding making claims so that you do not get dropped, etc. I remember reading once that the average homeowner had 1 claim per year. I
  3. When my mom was visiting last summer, we saw the same exact thing. Except...it was an SUV with the BROTHER, who appeared to be about 8 or 9, in the back seat holding the baby girl, who appeared to be around a year old. And the idiots had the light on (it was dark). I called the police and we followed the SUV into the Buffalo's parking lot where they were picking up a take-out order. The cop couldn't do anything because we didn't have a picture or video. I understand in a way because someone could get pissed off and just accuse someone of something. Of course the parents denied it. But how stup
  4. I enjoyed finally getting to meet you I probably looked terrible since we all jumped out of bed from sleeping late to make it on time, but I'm glad you came up and talked to me! It was a fun time for my two older boys, but I think the baby was probably shocked from all the noise. I would have stayed home with him had I known it was going to be so loud and windy. Oh, well! He didn't seem to mind too much
  5. I thought I had this kindergarten business under control and that I wasn't going to care about my oldest starting. Read this thread, burst into a dramatic tear fest. Son asked me what was wrong, and I told him I was sad he was going to kindergarten and before I knew it he would be going into first grade. He gave me a kiss and said, "Don't worry, I'll come home." He made me laugh with that...he is so sweet. I am okay with him going, though. I feel like he has been around forever. It's my second child that worries me. He's already almost 2, and the time seems like it has gone by much faster with
  6. I know, right? I didn't even think the food was good, and I love eggplant parmesan. It was mediocre at best. And the rolls they give with it stunk up my entire house with the garlic and oil they were drenched in. Ugh.
  7. OMG...too funny. I saw the same car the other day on Wednesday. I was at The Avenue in West Cobb and saw it in the parking lot. I though, "OMG, that car is hideous." Not only is it pink, but it's a nasty shade of pink...especially right up against the tail lights. A teenage boy and girl came out of Barnes N Noble and got into it. I wasn't surprised, but really...I think that's the ugliest shade of pink I've ever seen.
  8. I was driving along and almost hit an elderly man walking with a walker. I was going the speed limit and had just passed the hospital and was about to pass the Dollar General. Luckily, I had my eyes on the road, but if I had looked down for even a second...he would be dead. He came from across the street from the Dollar General...that lot that big trucks are sometimes on. He did not look, did not slow down...nothing. He just came from nowhere and walked right into the road without stopping. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid him, and a car coming the opposite direction had to stop suddenly, t
  9. Um.................................. Wow........what did he do??
  10. So, how are they made?
  11. Well, I certainly think people have a right to enjoy themselves and have fun. However, there is a respectful way to do that. My kids love to go outside and play on the playground, but that doesn't mean I'm okay with them screaming at the top of their lungs, KWIM? It doesn't bother me, and I'm glad they're having fun, but I am thinking of others when I tell them to quiet down. I don't know if someone near me is ill and is trying to sleep, works nights, just had a baby, works from home and is trying to concentrate, etc. I mean, no...we can't always live for everyone else, and we should be able t
  12. Maybe they sound proof? My brother-in-law plays a lot, but he sound proofed the room he plays in, so no one hears it.
  13. I know I'll be in the minority, but I don't think anyone should have to hear someone else practice with their band, listen to loud, booming music while washing their car, etc. I just don't. Even if it's only an hour or two. That's just how I feel. My husband used to work nights, and my neighbors would be blasting their rap music for 2 hours straight. Or their dogs would be barking nonstop. When I asked them to turn it down (friends with them), my friend became extremely defensive and started saying it wasn't her fault my husband worked nights, that when you live in a n'hood you have to deal wi
  14. With my first son, I would not let him cry it out. Well, actually...there WERE a few times where I tried, but he was just one of those stubborn babies that would not eventually fall asleep. He'd cry for hours if I would have let him, so I didn't. Anyway, from the night we brought him home from the hospital, he HAD to sleep with me. He would not sleep in his crib. He slept with us for 3 1/2 years! It was a nightmare. He was always kicking us or rolling over onto us or something in his sleep. When I had my second baby, we forced him to go into his own bed...no choice, really. Anyway, Tyler slept
  15. I feel for you. I get easily frustrated with my oldest. Everyone else seems to think he is this wonderful, well-behaved child, and for the most part he is. He does very well at preschool, has never moved off of "green," which is the best behavior spot on their chart, and he is really a sweet kid. The problem is he is spoiled rotten, so when he is at home with us and doesn't get to play that video game, etc, he will whine. The whining *really* grates my nerves. He's very stubborn, like many kids are, and you can tell him a 100 times to quit talking or quit whining, and every 2 seconds you are h

    LOST

I think that is exactly what it is, and I have been saying that all along. That would explain why they are showing stories on the characters leading different lives as if they never crashed on the island. Lost has been my favorite show for the past 2 years (didn't start watching it until then...but I have seen every episode), but I have to say that I am REALLY disappointed with last night's episode. Seriously??? I don't know...it just does not seem right. I think what happened is that they had this great idea for a show and rushed into it thinking they could figure out the important
  17. I would have killed her, no questions asked. First I would tie her up, kick her over, and throw things at her. I have left my kids with select friends and family, and even that makes me nervous sometimes. Not that I think they would abuse them, but just not watch them as well as I would, etc.
  18. I was just talking with my OB about this the other day. He said if it passed he was going to retire within the next couple of years, if not before. He expects to see--if not now, when the plan actually goes into full use--a drastic reduction in payments for the care he provides and also expects to be forced to lower the pay to his employees considerably. He was already forced to let a nurse go and hire an MA because of cuts in payments, and now he is expecting to have to lower her pay because of the bill passing. My aunt has worked for Blue Cross for a very long time. She fears the privat
  19. I remember seeing a story on the news a while back about a woman who left 2 young kids in the car. I think one was an infant. Anyway, I think the car was stolen or one of the kids died...I don't know. Honestly, I don't remember the story. But what I do remember is the reporter saying that in Georgia the only rule is that you can't leave a young child alone in the car...but there can be 2 kids and it be legal...no matter what their age. Doesn't seem right to me. And I really don't understand why there is no law on this. Hello...kids die in the heat. Kids get kidnapped. I am frantic if I le
  20. We've never had an issue with Dish either, except for a $2 increase this year...which is just happening with everything. The only issues we have ever had with the service is the box going bad...but if you have the insurance plan (like $4/mo, I think?) they will send another right out.
  21. It was just a private investigator...cops confirmed.
  22. I like it, too. Glad to see the shamrocks gone!
  23. After what I was told about my last baby, I ignore the weight estimates. I was told Tyler was going to be MAYBE 6 pounds. High 5 pounder, low 6 pounder. Um, no...he was 8 lbs, 3 oz! And they told me that just a few weeks before I had him. BTW, I also measured small w/ him, but he came out big.
  24. Last summer or early fall, my friend posted here about a red truck with a man who approached her son's friend and tried to get him to go get ice cream or something. I just went back and found the thread...red truck. Doesn't automatically mean it's the same guy, but same area, same color truck...not that long ago...
