  1. The houses in my n'hood are about 15 years old...most of the roofs appeared to be in fair-poor shape prior to the storm, so I think it was really an old roof problem and not a hail problem for most people. My neighbor had the same inspector from State Farm as we did and also got a check for his roof. But he hasn't had his roof replaced and that was a year ago almost.
  2. I learned in the last few weeks that you should let hubby do all of your "lawn mowing." I like to keep things neat, and I really thought I was one of the lucky ones who could just shave by feel and not by sight...because we ALL know that once you get so big you cannot see!! Yeah, well, right after my second baby came out I realized I was sadly mistaken. God, I was so embarrassed. Lol. I thought I had really done the nurses and doctor and myself a favor and had done a good job before the induction. Um, no............ This time, hubby will be taking care of things the closer time gets.
  3. I just watched a news clip from News4Jax that said, up until December, he lived in a house on the street she was last seen... That is sooo sad. And I totally agree with the Lunsford case. God, it infuriates me so much. I mean, at least if they are going to let these child molesters out of jail, they could at least search every inch of their home when a child goes missing. Knocking on the door and talking to them isn't enough. IMO, they have no rights once they take the innocence of a child. I don't think they should get out period, but if they do and a child goes missing...every inch of
  4. http://www.news4jax.com/news/22542514/detail.html# Look how much he has changed!!! He has definitely put on a lot of weight since his MySpace photo...but his MS page last login was in 2008. I almost didn't believe it was the same person, but if you click on his MS picture, it will show you another picture that is clearly the same person. And I found the MS page link on a Florida website that had a news article about him. And it shows his height as 6'3'' and in the mug shot his height is right at that. And it shows his hometown as being in Mississippi on his MS page. Wow...I hope that
  5. What is interesting to me is his profession listed on his MySpace page. Electrician. I have followed this case pretty well, and the authorities were suspicious of a house that was being renovated or worked on and were looking at people who had worked at the house. Construction guys, etc. Perhaps he did the electrical work in this house and saw her walking home from school. I don't know... He's innocent of the murder until proven guilty, but I have a feeling they have the right guy. Perhaps they knew of him and suspected him from the beginning but have been waiting for a strong enough link
  6. I remember watching an interview where Diena, her mother, was crying and saying that she had been asked not to view the body at the funeral. Apparently, Somer's body was in terrible condition...they wouldn't provide her details, but they just wanted her to have a lock of her hair and to please not view her. That would be so heartbreaking. I can't imagine what her mother has gone through. I can't imagine losing my child and then never getting to lay eyes on them again to say goodbye. Whether he did it or not, he apparently has a terrible child porn problem. The name of the file found on hi
  7. This is his MySpace page... http://www.myspace.com/yurioo Interesting that he says he wants a young, rich model to be his sugar momma. Just how young does he mean?? And love the Christian band Fly Leaf video on his page. You just NEVER know people...you only know what they tell you and what you see.
  8. Jarred Harrell, 24, arrested, named person of interest. "Police have arrested a former neighbor of Somer Thompson, the 7-year old girl whose body was found in landfill last fall, and named him a person of interest in the girl's disappearance and murder, investigators said today. Diena Thompson talks about investigation and the importance of safety awareness. Jarred Harrell, 24, was arrested "without incident" on 29 unrelated counts of possession of child pornography in Meridian, Miss., Florida's Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said in a press conference today. "We are also namin
  9. Thank you...some people are so knowledgeable and know everything. If no one tells you about the HE, how are you supposed to know at 18 years old? My mother never mentioned it to me because, like I said, in SC you have to be elderly or disabled, and they don't really use the term HE there. There is something else they call it...I will have to ask my mom.
  10. Thank you... Things are different in South Carolina. Not every state has the same HS exemption. In SC you have to be elderly or disabled to get it. Considering I was 18 when we bought this house (which, btw, most 18 year old people don't buy houses), I don't think I was stupid for not knowing when no one told me. How was I supposed to know?? I did find out...2 years later!
  11. YES!!! I told you why before... When I went on the show I had no idea it was going to be the way that it was. I was naive in thinking reality tv is reality. Immediately before taping, I found out different. Also, my husband would be mad since this is a local forum if I posted a video of myself, picture of myself, etc. I did/do have a little avatar pic, but that is pretty small and just 1 little pic. Same reason why I don't post pix of my kids on here...he wouldn't like it.
  12. NO THANKS...lol. I will send it to you in a PM. But uh, keep in mind what I said before...total scripted BS. They actually instructed me to cry so that the doctor would pity me. Glad I'm good at that.
  13. Mine, too! I was going to apply and then had to go and get knocked up! I think I would have had a good shot at getting on there since it's CBS, I already appeared on their network before, and they love little twists like that. Maybe next time..........ugh. Thanks hubby
  14. We have never done that. I assume it would help...but we've never done it. We didn't even know what it was until about 2 years ago. I thought they were going to do away with it? Or am I totally stupid and wrong?
  15. I got pulled over about 2 years ago on the Cobb/Paulding line for a tag light out. The officer was really nice. He just came to the window and said he pulled me over for my tag light being out and told me to get it fixed. No warning or ticket or anything like that. Guess I got lucky.
  16. We used Turbo Tax, got state refund 2 days later. Federal came about 5 days after that. Last year we got state second and over a week later than federal.
  17. SF is just ridiculously expensive for us...they quoted $148 for LIABILITY insurance on a paid off 2000 car. Geico quoted us $58 and it is the SAME insurance. And DH has always been with SF...up until that quote. Lol.
  18. That is good advice, and we actually did that. When we got the quote from MetLife, we called SF and told them about the quote we got. They told us to call MetLife back and make sure they included everything that is included with SF. We did, and MetLife was including everything, and it was actually BETTER...the limits were higher and they had a few extras that SF did not have. I don't remember the details, I just remember it was better than what SF read off to us. The only reason we didn't switch at that moment was because we wanted to wait until the policy with SF had to be renewed. But I gues
  19. I was going to mention the roof thing...I agree. I think we're all going to see a significant increase. Yay! I did get my roof replaced, so I'm not complaining, BUT we had shingles ripped off and had a kitchen leak. Other people in my neighborhood are JUST NOW getting theirs replaced in droves. I know that there can be damage done that can be worsened over time to make the homeowner aware later rather than sooner, but seriously...EVERYONE in my neighborhood just discovered the damage?? It would make a lot more sense to me if the bulk of them were replaced within a certain period of time from w
  20. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I wish we would get a refund check. Maybe we will get one this year when the year is over. Yeah, right. We have State Farm, and I think we are going to have to switch to MetLife or Geico...SF is just too expensive. MetLife quoted us for almost half what we pay SF, but that was January of last year, so I have no idea what they would quote us now that we have gotten our roof replaced.
  21. My house payment goes up considerably *every* year. I seriously don't know how we'll make our house payment in the next few years if it keeps going up, and it is not even 30% of DH's income. We refinanced a year ago because of the great rates and it took our payment down quite a bit, but now it's back to where it was again. I just don't get it...I'm from South Carolina and my mom and other relatives never have issues like this. Is this because the area is still being established??? I know things go up...I know I can't expect to have the same tax and insurance bill forever. I expect i
  22. Well, that could definitely be why! You do have to eat it and keep it down, I'd imagine!
  23. Ouch. Sorry to hear about that...scary times!! I will ask my husband if there are any of those positions (because I have no idea what you said...LOL) at his company. I know they are looking to hire again soon.
  24. Thanks to everyone that replied...I have been really busy the past 2 days, but I did read them all. I am one of those people who doesn't even like to take aspirin or Tylenol, etc, so the thought of a drug is not appealing to me as of yet, especially since I know it will be a lot better after the baby is born. It seems it just really triples in intensity and frequency when I hit the 3rd tri. Normally, I only have the RLS once or twice a week, maybe. I used to have it much more often, but it has gotten a little better over the years. I will see about the tonic water...and I eat plenty
  25. Not sure what you're asking, either, but my stepdad (has a degree in history) has been in sales for the past 5 or 6 years. He sold double-sided tape for a company for 2 or 3 years, and now he is with another company selling straws, napkins, cups and cleaning products to mainly restaurants, etc. He makes good money (varies, but usually around 90k/year), but he does travel a lot. With the tape company, he would fly all over the place, but now he just drives around South Carolina and North Carolina a few days per week. At one time, he mentioned getting my hubby a job with one of those compan
