  1. Oh, wow. Well, hopefully the fact that they think they got all of the cancer will give him a while longer. And I do understand your dad's decision. I watched both of my grandmothers go through chemo. Aw...you poor thing!
  2. Well, that makes what I'm dealing with seem like nothing. Prayers for your dad...hope that whatever they do will work for him.
  3. I thought I could use the money I was supposed to get from my mom, but I can't. I can't get it yet...no telling when I can get it. There is a freeze on the accounts because she is getting divorced, so I can't get it out and can't use it. *sigh* Helpless. It just really makes me angry to think of all the kids and babies out there who have hearing loss and can't get their hearing aids.
  4. Thanks for the links. My MIL sent me some of those as well, and I guess I must just be too upset to look at them thoroughly, but I just thought we didn't qualify for any of it based on what I was reading. You have to be at 200% or below the federal poverty level, I think. For Lions, anyway. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. I'm still hoping this is all wrong...
  5. Cochlear implants are covered by insurance, but you can only get them if you have very severe loss. So Grayson wouldn't be eligible. I'm still holding out hope that this is all wrong and some terrible dream. I asked the audiologist what people do when they aren't on Medicaid, and she said there really isn't much out there to help other than the donor program that Oticon (one of the manufacturers) has to loan you one for 3 months. But you still have to pay for the ear molds. I'm just wondering...how many sets of ear molds am I going to have to buy at $150/piece since he is young and his ears ar
  6. Grayson had an appointment last week with the pediatrician (well, nurse practitioner), and she asked how his appointment with the audiologist went. He had to have an appt for all his failed hearing tests he had in the hospital and at the ped office. He had an appt 2 weeks ago with the audiologist, but he detected fluid and said to clear the fluid first. The NP didn't like that response, so she sent me somewhere else yesterday. Children's ENT in Atlanta. They did an ABR test. It took almost 3 hours. I had to hold him the entire time, and the only way he would sit still for it was to breastfeed
  7. UMM...I don't have it yet, Steven. Lol. And it's really not that exciting because if it weren't for Jer, I could take a fantastic vacation with it! Oh, well...maybe one day. There is no indication hubby will get laid off. No one has been laid off from his job, and it's a very successful, very small web hosting company. They provide all the free snacks (chips, chocolate, granola bars, etc.), fountain drinks, gourmet coffee, bottled water, etc. the employees can eat...I would think they would stop doing that if they were hurting or anyone were in danger of losing their job. I'm just thinki
  8. That's exactly what I told my friend. She said I should close them, but I really don't feel comfortable doing that. I have total self control when it comes to spending. Hubby doesn't, but he just wouldn't have access to them. That is what I was thinking...pay it off, keep them open just in case of true emergencies. The interest on our credit cards is low because of DH's credit. I have a 2% interest card, he has a 0% and 7%. But I still want to pay it off! Well, she said she didn't really care. I told her I would pay off the bills, then when tax time comes around I would take the r
  9. I agree. I just keep thinking about it the opposite way. Pay off all the debt, hubby loses job or something breaks, etc., and then we are back in debt anyway. But, I guess you have to start from somewhere when it comes to savings. And it would be so nice not to have debt. But my mom doesn't want me to tell Jer about paying it all off. She thinks if he knows it is paid off, he will charge things up again. She is probably right. He wouldn't know if I paid it off because he never pays the bills or even looks at them. She thinks I should wait at least 6 months to get up some savings before telling
  10. If someone gave you money today, what would you do with it? Let's say the money was exactly enough to pay off your credit card bills and car(s). Would you pay off your bills, or would you save all of the money in a savings account? Or what would you do? I am curious as to what others would do in this type of situation. My mom offered to give me money to buy a newish/new car with, but she said I could do with it whatever I want. I would love to go buy a new car, but I am thinking it would be better to either have her keep the money where it is (CD), or use it to pay off our debt. But with the e
  11. Said a prayer for him...I hope he can recover soon!
  12. I've had Verizon for years, but I just gave my new Rogue touch screen phone to hubby and got Straight Talk for myself (I get the unlimited). I LOVE it. It's great. Reception is pretty awesome. Drawbacks are the losing days depending on when you buy your card. I have only had it 2 months, but I just plan to get the auto renew when I get around to it. 411 is USELESS. I believe it is actually through 1-800-FREE-411, because the ads sound the same, etc. It's useless and I can't use it. So, you really are out of 411 unless you like it, which I doubt you will. I'm pretty sure it's entirely auto
  13. My other sons were okay from the beginning. I don't think they really understood how serious the situation was. I think my oldest just thought it was no big deal, but my husband didn't think Grayson was alive when I picked him up. It was horrible. So, he's still a little shaken by the whole incident. The hospital called today to check on him and see how the service was. The only complaint I had was how long it took them to do the CT scan. Over half an hour, and probably around 45 minutes in actuality. My husband got upset and started yelling for a doctor, and that is finally when it was d
  14. We are doing fine...Grayson had a doc appt today. We were going to follow up with the ped yesterday, but they wanted us to wait since he was acting fine so that he could have his 2-month appt today. He is smiling and cooing like normal, so he is doing great so far. The doctor didn't seem too concerned about him. She said he looked good, just to continue to watch him for signs of hidden injury. I felt so bad, though. He had to get 3 shots today...poor thing...he has been through a lot the past few days! Thanks for the concern, everyone. It means a lot!
  15. THANK YOU ALL!! Thank you all for the prayers. He is going to be okay...just have to watch him for the next few days for signs of spinal injury. They said there was no way to know about that, but they think he is going to be fine. Today is my middle son's birthday. We went to see Toy Story and then went to Jump 4 Joey. Went to Target to pick up the birthday cake and let him pick a toy from Grandma. Grayson was crying in Target, so I picked him up and carried him throughout the store. When we got out to the car, my husband wanted me to open the door because he was holding the cake. I
  16. Fort Sumter?? No comment. Lol.
  17. Well, that's why I said that. Because it will be better for the low key environment, but there just aren't many attractions. So, my point is...if you want lots of things to do, Myrtle is the place to go, but it's not very quiet or private. Charleston will give you all the peace and quiet, but you won't have access to as many fun things to do. Really, hardly anything to do. Lol. They have an aquarium and some other things, but just not as much to do as you would expect.
  18. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there really isn't that much to do in Charleston. I used to live there, and we visited Charleston once or twice a year when I was growing up. I mean, there are things to do, but not really anything you couldn't do right here in Atlanta. Myrtle is the place to go for attractions, but Charleston *is* more low key and better suited for a romantic getaway. Just not much special to do. JMO.
  19. I have a van. With 3 kids, I find it the most comfortable option. It is also usually way cheaper in gas than most SUVs. I also do not share the same feelings a lot of people do about vans, but I could really care less what I drive.
  20. No! Sure didn't...I will look into that. Thanks!
  21. That's great! Maybe they will patrol mine once in a while. NO ONE stops for the signs in here. They blow through them, and most of the time do not even slow down or look. Pathetic. And a cop lives in front of the one they blow through the most!
  22. Babies? Takes a lot of energy!
  23. 2buns??? LOL. If I had 2 buns in the oven, I think I would go off the deep end. It really should be 3kidsnobuns now. Lol.
