  1. It was my understanding that her freshman year was his last year there... but, I'll be the first to admit that this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something!!
  2. The PCHS band sounded good for it's size. Obviously it is not what it used to be, but the current director has made improvements over what was there the past few years. I think we will see good things from them again! The turnout was a great tribute to Mr. Davis. What is interesting to note is that of the 4 other high schools, 3 of the band directors were former students of his! Including Ms. Young.
  3. I'll be there! Samples will be great. I've never had anything I didn't like from there, so it will be nice to try some different things. I tend to stick with thinks I know I like... the apple fritters are wonderful, and probably my favorite. The wife likes the black and white cupcakes best.
  4. Renewals with our companies are seeing the change in rating, but also the increase in rates. My personal policy renews the 7th of this month. My policy decreased about $25 over last year. Most companies will not make a change mid-term, but it won't hurt to ask!
  5. In addition to all the great stuff, the management is nice friendly folk! Hey cuz!
  6. Yes, my wife was taking a shower and the water went all the way out for a few minutes. Pressure is still low. We're in the southern part of the county off of nebo and dallas nebo.
  7. You got it right! "Ebonics" gives power to the movement to accept the uneducated.
  8. I remember it being on Willow Springs, then moved up to Yorkville. It was a "club", so you could BYOB and get by with it in a dry county! I didn't the frog legs, but the fried shrimp and catfish were great too!
  9. The PRIVATE school should be able to select who they want without any repurcussion.
  10. I do, and always will tip for the convenience of curbside check-in. I imagine that the new fees have put a lot of people off though. Many people feel that if they've paid an extra $25-100 for a trip just for the bags, then they don't have to pay anything else. Of course, supposedly the extra labor cost of having a person handle the bag is one of the excuses the airlines have for charging per bag fees. Like most large corporations these days, the $ are for their bottom line, not the employees.
  11. I don't know which thread grosses me out more... this one, or the one about head lice in the schools... Heck, maybe they'r combined. No lice checks in school, I'd sell my mattress too to get rid of the bugs! Just sayin'!
  12. I'm surprised at how close all the races were. The governor's race is a particularly close one. I looked at the SOS site, and Paulding only reported a 5 vote difference in the candidates! This just reinforces that every vote counts. Deal Handel Total 5,404 5,409 10,813
  13. Regardless of your selection of candidate, please get out there and vote! If you didn't vote at all, you may select which run-off ballot you want and vote either Republican or Democrat. If you voted in the Primary, you are restricted to voting on the same party ballot this time. Remember that the right to vote was granted by the Constitution, but preserved and defended by the blood of our forefathers!
  14. Thanks! I had the political forums turned off... and after reading through that thread, I remember why! My BP is up about 20 points just in the few minutes it took to read through it!!
  15. New 1099 Requirments in "Healthcare" bill Did any of you notice this? Maybe I'm reading it wrong, and some of you tax guys will clear it up for me. Now, for every vendor that I spend over $600 per year, regardless of the product or service, I have to file a 1099. That means that I have to get tax id numbers for my landlord, phone company, cable company, office supply store, etc. Pretty much anyone that I do over $50 per month business with. How does this relate to healthcare? The wonderful folks who wrote the bill said it would bring in $17M dollars in untaxed revenue! More BS
  16. 1st amendment rights or not... they would only protest at one funeral, and not a second if they had shown up at my sons! I'm just sayin...
  17. Love Verizon. Never get dropped calls. Tried At&T several years ago, and couldn't get reception in the Nebo area at all.
  18. As with most police investigations, there has been activity and arrests being made all along, it has just now come to the attention of the media. The SO and Parks & Rec have been active in keeping the parks safe.
  19. I'll give them a try this afternoon! (I can't sway my wife from the red velvet, and the black and white!)
  20. Happy Birthday America! Friendly bump so that others may see it.

    why?

I'm with you! I know a lot of government workers love the Monday holidays, but I wish we would celebrate on the days that the holidays fall on. Why take the 5th off to celebrate the 4th? Washington and MLK weren't born on Monday! If it's worth celebrating, it should be done on the proper date. But, our wonderful work ethic these days says that you have to have a day off for it to be worth celebrating.
  22. Amen, and may God Bless the United States of America! Long may she live. Thanks for the post. I'll leave the juxtaposition to today's politicians alone and let these words stand for themselves today! Happy Independence Day!
  23. Ditto on all the above, except we were not so lucky with our accomodations. It was a neat little boathouse that had been converted to a B&B. No service at all. We have cpap machines, and kept shorting out their power, even with converters. We splurged on our night after the cruise and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Over priced, but you know what you're getting! It's close to the SEX Museum! The funniest thing I saw was that the home shopping channels on tv during the day turned to Ho shopping channels at night! Showing pictures and listing their "talents"... We did the 10
  24. Welcome (almost) to the neighborhood. Give this guy a call about the flood insurance. It is well worth it for the peace of mind it would provide. 770-443-1748 Hiram Insurance Agency
