  1. I thought it was pretty good. Some nice twists from the original. I'm glad to see is isn't a straight remake. I was watching the original on SciFi yesterday, and this afternoon. They are taking advantage of the ABC show and running marathons.
  2. I'm with the majority... Great cause, but not really appropriate for a school setting.
  3. We only had 5 small groups of 2-4. Many years ago, when our subdivision was one of the newer ones, we would have literally 100's of kids... I had thought about not doing it this year, but couldn't go without giving out candy if I was going to be home. A movie or nice dinner out next year.
  4. trollin' me thinks! These threads aren't even funny any more... Oct 31 is Oct 31...
  5. As long as they are in costume and respectful, I don't care how old they are. I know my kids went through most of high school, but then it was more about being with friends than the actual candy. It was replaced by parties after that, so they weren't interested in going door to door.
  6. Dallas First has both contemporary and traditional services. Lots of friendly folks!
  7. As long as they spend the night at my house, Santa will show up! As the kids got older and went to college and the military, we extended it to roommates and a fiancee and then wife. They were told when they were small that Santa would come as long as they believed. That includes the spirit of Santa of giving and being kind to your fellow man.
  8. George was a great, kind, and generous man. May God's Grace be with the family.
  9. Prayers for God's Grace and Mercy to be with this family.
  10. I am very sorry for your loss... I know your pain, and the hopes that the same thing doesn't happen to another young person. The Ga Tech idea sounds like a great start.
  11. I can't wait for the cooler weather. I have already planned a pot of chili for Tuesday night! The holiday cruise is a great idea. We did one over Thanksgiving a couple of years ago, it was verrrrry nice. Wife and I can't talk daughter into one over Christmas, but we'll keep wearing her down until she agrees one of these days.
  12. I'm all for the "stupid" tax. The fee for this particular event may be high compared to others, and the article says that his lawyers are in "negotiation" regarding the amount. I think they would have to justify it based on what others have been charged. I agree too that this could get letigious based on having to distinguish between intentional and accidental cause. The fire analogy holds water here... if you intentionally set the fire, then you are not only fined, but arrested! In many cases, there is a charge paid for the fire department responding, it is covered by your insur
  13. I'll be in my office about 9:30. PM or call 770-443-1748.
  14. Global warming is only somewhat in debate. Man-made or not is the debate. The receding glaciers and icepacks are revealing former human habitation , so we're not seeing something that hasn't happened before. I'm talking iron smelting and brick making, not cavemen, so it is recent in geological terms. Macon was close to the shoreline in not to distant past also, so we have to deal with rising waters. Why throw money at "solutions" that have no support that they will alter the course of natural events?
  15. Folgers French Roast with just a little cream.
  16. There are a several good summer series on right now. Royal Pains, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Deep Blue, Saving Grace, Raising the Bar, and Warehouse 13 . There's something about Hawthorne that keeps me from really enjoying it, but I can't place what it is. Maybe that I don't think a nurse (even the head nurse) would be allowed to do half of what she does... but I certainly am not a hospital job expert.
  17. Having had a son serve, I certainly see both sides. I personally lean towards the replacement of the flag. While he is showing commitment to his son, he chose a public display to do it with. Most people will just see the disrespect to the flag, and have no idea what the purpose is. "He has a son serving, and doesn't show the flag any more respect than that!" would certainly be a common reaction. As Airborne Mom said though, it's his flag, and he has a reason. If I had made that promise, and it were me, I'd probably leave it up too!! Flying the flag will in no way keep his son saf
  18. What are the hours today? I didn't see them on the web site.
  19. Brother Bill was a wonderful man. An example of a good Christian. He tried to live what he believed. He was both a mentor and a student. I looked to him on as an example of how to be a Deacon, but had him as a student in Sunday school. He'll be missed by the folks at Poplar Springs and the community.
  20. This is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. Having been a family friend from an early age, and later when I married into the family, there was never anything but goodness from this woman. She will be missed, but she was ready to go home to be with family who has gone before her.
  21. May God bless this family. Please know that there will be special prayers said for you over the next few days!
  22. It's great to have those memories! May God grant you and your family peace and grace as only He can.
