Maybe my boyfriends brother just thought he was getting a deal. He is usually pretty frugal with his money, and I would imagine he would have done the numbers prior to spending $10K on his kitchen. They spend a lot on their house, so maybe it payed off for them. I definately wouldnt pay thousands of dollars to sign up until I knew what a remodel would cost at a regular store, and Direct Buy to compare. I dont know how much it costs, but my boyfriend's brother has a membership there. They shopped in Florida. He remodeled his entire kitchen for around $10K, I think, including stainless appliances and high end cabinets. The quality is VERY good. He is always telling us to sign up, but we havn't looked in to it because we arent ready to remodel. BTW-he has had no complaints.

We did ours last night. Its kind of a tradition for me and my boyfriend to sit and fill them out together. Plus, its a good way to let people know you are thinking about them.

I have no idea what to get for my 10 and 11 year old boys...but I do know this: XBox games come from Gamestop and they are used. I refuse to pay $50 or $60 for a new game that will sell used for 12.99 to 19.99 in less than a year. You can buy online at Game Stop as well. I've always had good luck with it. This is why I choose not to attend these events. It is stressful for me to drive around people constantly walking in front of you, and quite frankly, its not worth it. I was in a Kroger parking lot one day and there was a group of about 9 people, children and adults, that were walking straight up the driving lane, and wouldnt get off to the side. I always teach my kids to stay to the side and not horse around in parking lots, or public places where there are cars. Is it really that difficult to be considerate??

I want to add--I grew up in the North, so we always had sleds under the tree that weren't wrapped. It doesnt work that well here, but they got bikes one year that weren't wrapped.

He wraps them. It goes too fast as it is so the more they can unwrap, the better.

Regardless of whether or not anyone from PCOM wants his job...He wanted it. He took the job, and should have done it. I have chosen what I want to do in life, and I do my job to the best of my ability without doing sneaky and possibly illegal things. So its okay to say "Ah heck, nobody else wants to do this job, so I can do whatever I want. I can get my rocks off because someone wants funding for a project, and I can use my power for the good of myself. I know I'm supposed to be doing good for the people, but as long as I dont have anyone standing in line for my job, I can do what I want."

I dunno! It really didnt have a lot of info on what exactly happened. I think I would know, if they charged be $100 too much. But, if it was only some items that doubled, I may not realize that I got charged $5 too much on a $100 bill. Who knows....I havn't stepped foot in a store yet!

www.11alive.com is asking if you got double charged at Toys R Us on Black Friday. You may want to check your receipts, it seems many did. The article doesnt say a lot, except they want you to let them know if you did.

I have never made a pecan pie, though I would like to. There is a recipe on Food Network online for a sugar free one. One comment mentioned was that sugar is what makes the carmelized affect on the top, so it may not end up being the same as a regular pie, but its worth trying.

All posts before me are very valid and this is a great thread for this time of year!! I would like to add --appreciation-- to the list. We all need to appreciate the things we have, be it health, family, friends or security. I always try to teach my chidren to be appreciative, and not take so much for granted.
