  1. Last month I was shopping for a laptop. I found one I really liked at a local big box electronics store. They only had the one display laptop and none in stock. They said to check the website that it might be available at another store or you could buy it online. When I looked online it wasn't available at ANY store anywhere in the southeast and wasn't available for shipping (in other words, you couldn't buy it online). The only way you could get one was IF a store had them in stock. I ended up getting another laptop which I absolutely love. Paid more but that's OK.
  2. I like both Dr. Tom and Dr. Mary. Two wonderful people. I need to stop by just to say hello to them. Haven't seen either of them in several years. I used to be a patient (as well as an employee) there but had to leave when our insurance changed and they weren't on there. Just never have gone back. Since she moved, she is about two miles further away for me. I can go backroads and it isn't bad. I hate the I-20/Thornton Road intersection so I avoid it going to her office. I just love her.
  3. She is something else! I just adore her. You probably haven't been to the new office either.
  4. My youngest daughter lives in downtown Austell. Starting a week or so after the flood she had a lot of problems with what seemed to be nasal allergies. They eventually cleared up. She wasn't sure if it was caused by the aftermath of the flood or the fact that fall pollen started about the same time. No telling what was in the air after the flood, though. I drove through one area, can't remember where at the moment, but you could smell the mold and mildew. I think this was in the area around Clay Road.
  5. Your secret is safe with me. And I think the older ones had character. I know mine did. A few months ago I saw my best friend's younger brother who I had not seen since he was about 8 years old. Well, he's 40 now. He didn't remember me but he did remember my Camaro. Said he always liked that car.
  6. I thought about putting my Pcom name on the request. You would have known who I was then. I don't know that I could stay in Florida more than a couple of weeks a year. Well, I probably could as long as it was from the week after Labor Day to Memorial Day. I have owned two Camaros. A red 1967 and a blue 1975. No offense to the people at GM/Chevy but the new Camaro looks like a Charger.
  7. I would buy a car. A 1975 Camaro. Metal flake blue. White interior. 8 track tape player. Probably would never drive it but I'd like to own one again. Or possibly buy a house in Florida. On the beach. Only visit a couple of times a year and never rent it out. BTW, Tess, I submitted a friend request for you recently on FB.
  8. My gyn doctor is a female. She isn't in the East Paulding/West Cobb area but she isn't far away. Just off Thornton Road between I-20 and Riverside Parkway. Her name is Suzanne Lowry. I highly, highly recommend her. Don't have her number handy, though. Don't know of a PCP who is female other than Dr. Mary Gearhard. She's in Austell. I have known Mary for over 20 years. Very nice person. Her number is 770-944-1830 (I think--could be 948 instead of 944). I don't know that she is taking new patients at all. I'm quite sure Dr. Lowry is, though.
  9. Interesting. Last week I went to one of the large banks on 278 to obtain a cashier's check. The money came from our business account there. Not ONCE was I asked why I wanted the money. I had to show my driver's license probably to make sure that my name and address matched what is on the account. I was asked IF I wanted a payee on the check but was told it wasn't necessary. BTW, the amount was in excess of $10,000 so I'm sure it got reported twice--once by the bank as having issued a cashier's check and then again by the Kia dealer as having received a cashier's check. Come to thin
  10. I'm sitting here at my house looking north toward Marietta/Kennesaw. Sky looks rather omnious.
  11. As I walked out of Target I thought to myself "it is way too warm for January". Almost muggy today. Can't be good.
  12. I've broken toes, my collarbone, my arm and my right foot. I must say the worst pain of them all, and possibly even worse pain than labor was for me, was the foot. That was so bad that AFTER surgery it hurt so much less than it did BEFORE surgery I barely took any pain meds for it. That's right folks, having your foot sliced open, a metal plate and four screws placed to hold the bone graft in place hurt LESS than the actual break did. I have a high tolerance for pain, but the second day after I broke my foot I almost passed out from the pain.
  13. In Cobb you can simply find this information online through the court info unless it was referred to drug court in case it just disappears off the face of the earth. I would think once you have a court docket number or an arrest warrant, you would have the info you need to follow the case through. On the Cobb court website, everything is listed--arrest information, bail, attorney, judge, motions, etc. It's a shame that all counties don't do this. It IS public information unless it involves a juvenile.
  14. I completely agree. Several years ago I was about to undergo surgery and just in case of the worst happening to me, I went through and wrote out for my husband details about everything that needed to be taken care of should I not survive. I listed checking account numbers, balances, banks, bank contacts, bills that might come due in the next week or so, where to find insurance information, where my funeral request was, etc. Thank goodness he didn't need that information but I now keep that updated. I have a lot on me to keep up with since I do both our personal things and everything for
  15. It bothers me because men generally die earlier than women. If he dies and she doesn't even know who the electricity comes from, she will be in deep doo-doo. I know her brothers and they will help her figure that stuff out should the time come. It's one thing not to be the one to pay the bills but you still should have a general idea of what they run each month and who provides your utilities. Her husband has treated her like she was in an ivory tower since they got married. And not in a good "I don't want you to have to worry about things" way, but more of a "I don't want you to do thing
  16. It really bothers me to think that my friend has no clue how much their utility bills are. She needs to know this even if her husband is the one who usually pays them. I've tried telling her this time and time again but she doesn't seem to consider it could become a problem in the future if something happened to her husband. My hubby gets upset when he thinks about me having my own checking and savings accounts in addition to our joint accounts. I told him it is so that I *CAN* spend money on things that just I *want* without having to feel like I'm spending "his" money. For instance,
  17. Hey, I didn't go to the doctor years ago when I broke my foot! I paid for that screw up 16 years later by having to have a bone graft done. You must have really broken it badly. But I've never heard of having to do anything else for a broken toe other than tape it. And I spent almost 5 years working in an orthopaedic surgeon's office, so I heard about a lot of broken toes.
  18. Hmmmmmm. I've never actually gone to the doctor with a broken toe. Didn't know you could do that. Anyway, the toe should be much better in about 3 weeks unless it is badly broken. The pain should lessen every few days and in about 3 weeks, should be almost pain free. It wasn't a pinky toe that I broke one time but the second toe. It took quite some time for that one to heal. I broke it when I tripped over my niece.
  19. There was a time when I didn't actually pay the bills but wrote the checks and had my hubby sign them. We did it this way for the household expenses and the business. Then he started traveling all the time, being gone from home anything from one day to two weeks. I told him the old way just wasn't going to work anymore. Bills might come in and be due before got back home and if, heaven forbid something happened to him, I'd be stuck. I took over the bill paying at that time. He wouldn't know if the electric bill is $81 or $181 (like it was this past month). No idea what the phone bill is
  20. Me. Not just for the household but for the business as well.
  21. We have some very dear friends who began raising their grandchildren when the younger of the two kids was still in diapers. The daughter of my friends had an brain aneursym and was no longer capable of taking care of the kids. Her mom and stepdad took over. They raised the kids as though they were their own, even though the kids knew mom and called her mom and called their grandmother Granny. It's a lot more common than one would think. I pray to God every day that I don't become one of the grandparents raising grandkids.
  22. OK, next time we want directions....to your HOUSE!! Man, that sounds wonderful. And easy enough I could do it.
  23. Actually, you only get the *business license* in Paulding or wherever your business is located (that might be the city of Dallas, Hiram or Braswell if you're in the city limits). You get the sales tax number from the Ga Department of Revenue. Here's a link to the form. https://etax.dor.ga.gov/ctr/TSD_State_Tax_Registration_Application_CRF002.pdf Fill out the form, print it out and fax it to the number at the top left hand corner or mail to the address given. If you mail it, be sure to keep a copy for yourself. Don't forget to sign it. If anything does not apply, you can mark through it
  24. I don't even live in Paulding but we have had some tagging recently on our street. Can't figure out what they wrote, though.
