  1. Yes, but, we're all in the same boat. I want us all to get with a buddy and paddle together in the same direction so we'll come out ahead.
  2. Just curious. Since school cuts are the main topic with all of my friends - both Paulding & Cobb. I know what I'm hearing in these conversations. What are the p.com people thinking.
  3. That's sooooo true. All because she is a Republican!
  4. My link Your name is Tom ... You live just off of 5th Street ... Nice car, Tom — nice house. What's not so nice is you owe Pennsylvania $4,212 in back taxes. Listen Tom, we can make this easy. Pay online by June 18th and we'll skip your penalty and take half off your interest because Tom, we do know who you are.
  5. I feel that if we went back to that AND had parents come to the school when little johnny won't behave - we'd have much better schools. Not gonna happen. Parents had rather blame the schools & the teachers without looking within. I'm not talking about everyone and don't mean it to be so general, but, think about what these mandates/programs have done to our education. Not to mention - we as parents (and schools) labeling our kids (and telling them they have a problem) which gives them an excuse to underperform. Now there's the old - well my child does have a problem. Of course there
  6. Is there truly that much control left at the local level? My cousin is an assistant principal. She got mad at me, too, recently because I was picking at her griping - but every other sentence either contained Federal Mandate or State Mandate. One problem with mandates - just like the new healthcare mandates - you can mandate all you want - that's the easy part - it's the implementation where it gets sticky.
  7. Really - where can I find the info.....I'm usually good at searching, but, I don't see anything. In retrospect, you are probably right, all government money comes with strings attached.
  8. I loved my teachers, too, but my momma would have slapped me silly if I knew about their personal lives or what was going on with faculty/admin in my school (unless I had been told directly). Kids are allowed to cross the boundary between you are a child and I am an adult too early these day.
  9. I love Fripp Island in South Carolina. We're booking on the east coast. Really enjoyed our spring break quick beach trip to Jacksonville & St. Augustine.
  10. I wish they wouldn't discuss this with/around the kids. Those discussions, in my opinion, should be in the home. Let the parents tell the kids what's going on.
  11. I had someone else make this statement to me, so I went digging - which is my usual thing to do when a statement is not completely answered for me....Just for fun - here's what I found: Do we have any clues from the historical sources about what might have motivated Caesar Augustus to issue his censuses? Roman historian Dio Cassius tells us that Augustus was so concerned about the declining marriage and birth rate in his empire, that he passed legislation that made promiscuity a crime, which penalized bachelors in their right to inherit, and which bestowed political advantages on fathers o
  12. We're an "S" Corp....check into that.....we're very small (just my hubby & me)....saved us tons to do this.
  13. grilled pork chops broccoli/rice/cheese/mushroom casserole squash & vidalia onions cinnamon apples oh, and fried okra for the little guy - he hates casseroles.
  14. May 10 - 12th. I cannot believe the clarity & sound. I don't know if I can leave my computer! This is so beautiful!
  15. My friend emailed me this link and it is incredible! My link
  16. In this day and time and with all of the sales papers, were they really that naive? Not being mean, just asking. I've watched several friends do this type of thing because they think this way they'll have better service/support or they think they're doing better with "cash flow". I have a friend who recently bought a brand new vehicle to reduce her car payment - for real - they owed $4000 with payments of $425 - nothing wrong with the car, never wrecked, good mileage, etc - now they're paying $299 for 64 months (YES 64 months!) on a brand new vehicle and she's trying to tell me how much mon
  17. My mother had hers out 4 weeks ago yesterday. She only took 1 pain pill after. Feels great. All symptoms disappeared within 36 hours. She was a little sore for a couple of days. Her doctor was featured in the MDJ a couple of days later. Her incision was TINY! Here's the link to the story on her doc. My link
  18. It's not just Georgia.....My cousins' kids in Va were at 4 1/2 days weeks this year. I didn't understand the 1/2 day, but, they said it cut out lunch costs, actually reduced bus costs(never got that), cut out all "job sharing" and a few other things I dont remember. They received their letters in Feb telling them that next year would be 4 day weeks. A friend had family looking to move here citing the change in their schools in either VT or Delaware or somewhere up there - the cuts had hit hard this year and were going to hit harder this year.
  19. I was with Farm Bureau (because my parents have been for 40+ years) for my condo & first house - no claims. We've been with Allstate for 12 years - no claims. Started too with the roof repairs here, but then just decided we didn't want a claim on our record and our out of pocket wasn't that much more than the deductible. We carry higher deductibles on everything to keep the premium costs down.
  20. I thought along the same lines. I keep a Hershey's Special Dark in the fridge (you know, the 1 pounders!) and break a piece off every night after dinner!
  21. I do...sorry I haven't called....was out all of yesterday.....will call you this am
  22. My link Excerpt: So far this year, 113 people have been killed across Chicago — precisely the same number as the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined during the same time period, the legislators noted.
