What is the reason that the cheer uniforms look the way they do? Not being mean - just want someone to tell me. Not all schools subscribe to the sexy cheer uniforms - thank heavens. I have family members whose schools actually have what I consider appropriate cheer uniforms - and the girls cheer just as well as those in inappropriate uniforms - go figure! Do the sexy uniforms make the players play better? Do they make the crowd cheer louder? Do they make the cheerleaders better cheerers? Now, as I LOVE my Madea (saw "her" at the Fox a few weeks back) - this is quite a tame comme

She has been in the country long enough to go the LEGAL route to become a LEGAL citizen. No, she didn't ask to be brought here ILLEGALLY, but, she has chosen to REMAIN ILLEGAL while working towards one day becoming a LAWYER to enforce our LEGAL SYSTEM?? And, you don't see something "messed up" with that??? If she and/or her parents were actively working to become a LEGAL CITIZEN and not taking advantage of the system while be ILLEGAL, then, yes, I'd say it was a witch hunt = let the girl pay out of state tuition while CONTINUING to allow HER AND HER PARENTS to CONTINUE to work towards their

There are several girls that we know who compete (and win) in pagents. I've seen the fake hair, the fake teeth, the colored contacts, the spray on tans, the money for entry, the money on dresses - all in the name of "college scholarship money". Are you for real? How much is all this costing you and, in my, I suppose, prudish, opinion - isn't this telling these sweet young girls, hey, you're not good enough unless you do all of this. And, I remember my prom and how excited I was to get "made up" - Prom will be nothing to them but another pagent. Oh, and the interview coaches and the profes

Thought I'd show this to my almost 13 year old boy.....he was floored. "Mom, is this for real? That's just not right!" I told him they were supposed to be 7 years old and that I wanted an almost teens view on this. He wouldn't let the video go very far. He just looked at me and said - Mom, the song isn't even appropriate for kids my age and they're only 7. I'm glad I'm not with those kids parents. I asked him why he was glad he wasn't with those kids parents and his answer - I don't think they really love those girls or they wouldn't let them look like that in public. Made me proud. Oh

I don't consider myself a prude. I do see an issue with this. I see this type of thing - including the dressing/makeup on extremely young girls in pageants/competitive cheerleading as a pedophiles dream come true. When I think of "modesty" - I'm not meaning skirts/shorts to the knees and shirts with sleeves - but, I do think about what type of message this type of thing send to our boys. We teach our girls to not put up with a boy who disrespects them. We tell (our boys)/teach them to respect women, to treat girls well - then, parents dress their girls as little hoochie mommas and send 'em

I, too, think about and have posted about the bailouts. I've really tried to research how our schools are funded and why public education spends the same as or, in some cases more, than private school tuition per child - but well known private schools seem to fare better in lean times. Private schools have limited funds - I mean really they do. Private schools receive no state or federal funding. If their enrollment drops - how are they managing in the lean times? Anyway - here is some info I found - it's from 2004, but, that's not that long ago. The average that Georgia’s local school

Good Luck....grab the remote and a bell and be a queen for a few day! LOL I had the lateral meniscus & lateral collateral ligament repaired (left knee) 5 years ago this week. Now, need to repair the medial meniscus & hoping these cortisone shots/mobic prescription will reduce the inflamation (right knee) in the medial collateral ligament so that it will heal. My surgery was so much easier than my imagination had built it up to be. May yours be just as easy and may you heal quickly!

My thing is it's a senior center and they want to pray like they've always done. I'm not asking for the food company to lead the prayer. I do understand/respect the traditions of my elders. I think it's just sad. I don't think they're trying any public display. At our family reunions, everyone bows their head and one of the older generation says a blessing. I'm not arguing church/state separation. Just letting seniors be.

My link Excerpt: But Senior Citizens Inc. officials said Friday the meals they are contracted by the city to provide to Ed Young visitors are mostly covered with federal money, which ushers in the burden of separating church and state. On Thursday, the usual open prayer before meals at the center was traded in for a moment of silence. Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc. vice president, said some of his staff recently visited the center and noticed people praying shortly before lunch was served. Rutherford said his company provides meals like baked chicken, steak tips and ri

You're not being "snarky". Thank you for teaching our children. A good teacher is born, not made, and it sounds as if you are a good teacher. I have always hated hearing how much the teachers spend on supplies for their students (most of these teachers have kids of their own to buy for!). On the other hand, parents who do send in their own childs supplies (and extras when they can) are also going to be tight on money. For those parents who need help in affording supplies - there are tons of places each and every year that these parents can get assistance. We all hear about the progr

Yeah, my homemade cards mean more to me than any store bought gift. I heard that before I had kids and thought, yeah, right. But, now I know. For my birthday, which usually goes by with not much more than a card from both was a complete shock this year. I'd taken my son to the mall to buy something and went in the Macy's entrance and fawned over a Coach purse for sale %30 off. My son asked why I didn't buy it if I liked it so - I've never owned brand name purses - so, anyway, I told him that even at 30% off, it was WAY too much for a purse. He came home, told his dad and they snuck off a

Hubs has always encouraged my son to make a card for me, he'll buy me a card & they'll usually buy me some flowers at Kroger. At anything - my birthday, Christmas, Valentines Day - he encourages me to go buy what I want. His mother was/is absolutely horrible to his dad about what his dad tries to do & he just won't put himself into that situation. Once, his mother picked out 2 sets of expensive diamond earrings at a jewelry store and put them on hold & told his dad. Well, his dad went and bought one of the pair - the kicker - to this day, she says he bought the "wrong pair". H
