That's been a thought of mine the entire time.......If I and/or hubby would have been only 20 feet away - there is no way that I wouldn't have been making myself heard. First, pulling my child out of the water, I would have thought my child was injured and would be heading that way & yelling is he hurt - secondly, 20 feet, hubby - unless he has a physical limitation or is disabled - could have been there in seconds and stopped/diffused the situation - hopefully calmly - with a firm "I'm here, what happened" LONG before it got this far. I know it happened quickly - but - to yank a child f

Too Funny! I'd put VeggiTales on there in the beginning - don't know if it's still there - will have to check. He earns pretty good money dog sitting/walking but he hates to part with it for music - so - a few weeks ago, he listened to some of my old cds - Billy Idol, Styx, Journey - and put quite a bit of that on, so, when he was complaining that "MOOOOOOMMMM, YOU should buy me some music - I said - OK I'll put you some cool music on there" Hopefully, I've cured the "I want for free from you" thinking today.

Y'all still going?? This has been the best thread in days! So - we're WAY past M & M's, huh? Songs - oh, my son was complaining because he didn't know what new music to put on his ipod playlist......I went downstairs and dug out ABBA, BeeGees & Barry Manilow (yes, I actually own this music - why - I was a strange teen I suppose). Anyway, I put "Dancing Queen" & "Copa Cabana" on his IPOD......Didn't y'all hear a screaming tween a few hours ago - say around 7 p.m.???? I know - child abuse, right???

You know.....this thread has gotten so far away from the OP's original statements. After she has had time to calm down, I wish she'd let us know what she and her family decided to do. Nothing is said as to how HER HUSBAND reacted or what he may/may not have said/done, how good of a friend this man was, if it is a good friend has she ever seen him act like this towards children (if so, why did she leave her child with this type of person?), etc. If she witnessed the stranger literally beating her child, why did she AND her husband not immediately call the police? If this were the case,

I've done two things that, as it appears from previous posts, I'd have been reported to authorities. 1. A friend who I had not seen in over a year visited my home. Her 6 year old started crawling all over her wanting to leave and go get ice cream. She kept saying "we'll go later if you behave" - which turned into "we're not gonna go if you keep this up" to "I'm really not gonna take you if you keep on". My son tried to get the boy play which turned into the child picking up a Thomas the Tank piece and slinging it across the room, then kicking his mom and screaming he wanted to leave NO

You missed my point completely.....NO ONE - including a parent - should curse a child then beat the crap out of them not curse them or beat the crap out of them in anger.........No, I don't consider the man's actions appropriate in any form or fashion......What I was referring to is that many - and I have been in conversations where - especially mothers of girls with no boys - where a boy is expected to not run/play/etc - to be more quiet/reserved and basically, act like they're expecting the girls to act. I'm not talking about grown men - the child in this case is 5 years old. I'm not even

Lots of different things going on here. 1. When I was growing up, every parent around me & my teachers, had the right to spank me and/or discipline me. And, because I knew that, it kept me from doing lots of things I thought of doing. 2. In this day and time - nope - not unless you have specifically told that adult he/she has the right to spank. Which, honestly is a sad statement to our society - not the spanking part - but the part of no one being allowed to impose other discipline on our children and the kids know it and take advantage of that (along with the fact that par

I've passed this info along to the person who knows them. Seems as if they have no family locally.....Any other ideas? I hate to know these people are sleeping in their vehicle......
