  1. I do miss the tunnel updates & tours......maybe we should plan a tour so we know what types of mandates we need to push our candidates for???
  2. Newsjunky - did you pick up (well, spend a $1 for) the Voter Guide? I think they did a great job and it's very informative - just TINY print for these old eyes today!
  3. I like her & I know of several people who are on vacation next week who voted early for her....I'm not sure she's ready for a position such as governor. However, I feel like I did in the last presidential election - no one stands out & I might have to vote for the lesser of two evils.....Unless it's Deal & I agree with the other poster - there's just something about him that he solidified when I met him last night - just something not quiet -hmmmm.....kosher?? Don't know - can't put my finger on it. But, we can't limit it to Georgia....saw some frightful ads while on v
  4. Oopss...hit a button before putting anything in....I am and have always been against NCLB. I know it's attributed to Bush, but, Barnes was a key player. I didn't like alot of what Barnes was for and/or did during his tenure as our governor. I'm really not for putting career politicians in office at this time. He isn't a bad man, just not my choice.
  5. Thanks....these always have one that speaks to something I'm struggling with that day.....
  6. An "oxendine" worker mentioned this last night at the tea party event. I told him what I thought of this type of stuff. I just don't care for negative campaigns. Guess I made the old guy mad when I said - "Is he without sin casting the first stone?" The old guy turned away from me and started talking to someone else. I know the candidates can't know everything the workers do (I've campaigned for someone before) - but the workers have a duty to their candidate to keep things positive. The old guy had asked me if I had any questions about his candidate, I said no, that I had researched he,
  7. Never shopped that weekend - I only have 1 child - shopping in crowds just wasn't worth what little I'd save. May be different when I buy all the stuff to send him away to college in a few years.
  8. Attended the tea party event at jim r miller park tonight so I could meet some of the candidates....was surprised at how many turned out & the number of people. I agree about the calls....I'm not answering them any longer - not after so many in one day.
  9. Sad to admit it - and glad most don't have a clue as to who I am - but, I sure could use this support group. Prayers for your family, nowens98 - Tell your mom not to try to "fix" it for her. Now, if I could only get my mom to listen.
  10. Instead of spending the money on signs, I'd rather them send me ONE (just 1) pamphlet/flier/etc. that FULLY DETAILS their background & their platform & how they intend to make changes or do whatever it is they plan to do and/or put the info into the paper and/or more complete info on their web sites. The signs make me crazy & no, it doesn't do a thing for their vote from me.
  11. Just checked out "bing" - was curious - the pic of my house on bing is over two years old. Previous owners cars were in driveway.....
  12. just checked googlemaps. Recent pics because my neighbor just put a gazebo in their back yard July 1 & 2 and I can see it from the satellite view. Just creepy.....Makes me want to stand in the yard & wave at the sky....
  13. OH, MY, GAWD!!! If I see "private name/private number" on my caller id one more time I will lose it!!! WE have had 11 - yes - count 'em - 11 calls this week. The last two have had to listen to a dissertation on why they will NOT call me again or, I swear, I'll vote a completely different ticket. And, NO, you may not - any of you - put me down for another $50. I asked the guy tonight if he knew how many socks & underwear $50 would buy my child for school!! Seriously, I support my "party" - but, just wow.
  14. nothing really surprises me with what moms will do to/with little girls any longer. Too many people I know are big into the pageants. They do the spray tans, hair pieces, nails, waxing, glueing/taping dresses, pop in "teeth" things - they're temporary go across the teeth & hook into back teeth, colored contacts (even though the girls don't wear/need glasses/contacts, interview coaches, etc. They say they do it for the scholarship monies. They spend a fortune on entrance fees, dresses, etc. Don't see how it evens out, but, hey, they're not my kids. I worry about their futures, though.
  15. One of my friends in in Seacrest Beach & another is in Destin right now. Both are reporting beautiful water & beaches on their facebook sites. The Seacrest Beach one says that the locals said the oil had come within 9 miles but due to change in currents was now much further....She says it's awesome.....
  16. What are teens thinking? Like the bleach filled balloons at the end of the school year.
  17. Oh, yeah....hire an attorney.....have watched my cousin & his wife go thru this - an attorney is a must....there are a lot of support groups out there for grandparents raising grandchildren. My cousin says they were extremely helpful in the beginning.
  18. Probably the same way some homes "enclose" a mobile home or smaller home - they built all around it and, over time, the inner walls were boarded/sheetrocked over so that no sight of the original "cabin" could be seen.......There is a home right down from me now that is like a mansion, but, began as a small victorian that looked like a little doll house....
  19. A two story cabin thought to be built by the Cherokee inside the old hotel My link
  20. I'm sorry you feel judged. I am sure there are those sitting in judgment. I sit on a fence when these types of things come up. I don't think there is a one of us who could honestly say we know exactly what we'd do in your situation. I would hope that every mother on here would agree that they would do everything possible for their child. When I say "I sit on a fence" - here's why. I see both sides of many things. The person who wrote about the computer & your answer "whats your point"? Well, neither of you know what's going on inside the others home. Here's an example - showing my
  21. What she said. On that same note, my son saw the son with the sign prior to seeing the little girl - if this is the same family - over in Kennesaw near Adams park. He grabbed my purse & his wallett. He told me "mom, I think this is different". We did give. HOWEVER - I will NOT give to what I do feel is child endangerment for the sports/dance groups/etc hopping around in precarious intersections. You want to set up & do a car wash - even though I know my car will still have dirt on it (LOL) - I'll give you $20. Want to set up your girl scout cookies at the grocery/big b
  22. removed answer - kid now thinks he's wrong & I'm making him go to bed anyway.
