Where can I send a family who needs school supplies?
onekidmom replied to Taylor's P.A.L.S.'s topic in RECENT TOPICS
For those of you with extras -Murphy Harpst Childrens Home in Polk can ALWAYS use the supplies.... -
Was at a restaurant the other evening (and, we've cut back drastically so it was special to go) - had had an awful day - and the kid in the booth behind us kept throwing crayons onto our table. Mom/Dad didn't say anything. I let the first 2 go, just moved them to the side of the table. When the 3rd & 4th landed together, I looked my husband in the eye & said "NUFF". I turned around, politely, smiled and said, "You need to keep your crayons so you can color, ok" Then turned back around. THEN a coaster came flying. I picked it up, stood up, walked the 2 steps behind me and said, v

I hated those things and was happy when they were cut out of our school. (Junk, no consistency between classrooms - one room mom started putting $3 bruster gift cards in hers while the other room had pencils - I know the world ain't fair, but, it was ridiculous - turned into roommom wars!!) Was never consistent. I don't want him thinking that everywhere he goes, he should be rewarded/punished. His rewards/punishments have always been from us.

Agreeing in part with LPPT.....See if you & your son can meet with the teacher. Explain to him that we are all going to make sure that we all understand what is expected. Ensure that your son understands everything - by recognizing him at the meeting with periodic - "do you understand or do you have any questions" so that you are placing the responsibility on him. (See if there are any kids that are laughing at his antics or in an indirect way - encouraging this - and, if so, ask if he - not the other child (ever) - can be moved). Once you leave and get home, review a plan that you alr

Saw this on the news last night....he was the one spearheading a motorcycle ride to benefit the Ga Power worker who was burned in the accident a couple of weeks ago - where they hit a gas line and it erupted and burnt the man in the bucket of the truck. So sad...Prayers lifted for all....

Back in the 90's, there was a web grocery - trucks had a peach on it...cannot for the life of me remember the name. I LOVED IT. Even though the item could sometimes be a little higher than in the store, I saved A LOT of money. First - no impulse buys. Second, I was in my house & could check and see if I needed something that popped into my head instead of either overbuying or having to go back to the store. And, I had a small baby - so the delivery was awesome. They brought everything in, unloaded onto my counter or my table. My hubs laughed at me because I actually cried when they

This is precious - or should I say precocious - lol

In front of him and his teacher, I actually held it in (mostly) - I know she saw a smirk. Thankfully, she saw a little humor in it, but......LOL -
We LOVE lenscrafters at the Avenues @ West Cobb....they really check out your insurance, tell you exactly what they will pay and offer discounts to certain carriers as well as discounts for cash and they have a 6 month sames as cash thing for non insureds - and, the doctors are great and good with a kid that doesn't want to get his eyes checked.

When mine was in kindergarten, he'd told me that his teacher was taking too long explaining stuff to the class.....We'd talked about being patient, putting our listening ears on & making sure we heard everything. Then, about 5 weeks in, she asks me to pull out of car line. Seems as if my sweet little boy had raised his hand, told her he knew how to do everything and said "if you'd just let me teach the class, we could go faster and then no one would need a nap". -
Thanks, Mrs. B. I'm a tough ole bird. And, I have concrete boundaries - NO ONE gets more of me than my child & my hubs. It's just hard to watch, but, I know in my heart of hearts that I have done right. Friday night - in a ranting phone call - I was "threatened" with the person was going to call my church minister because I showed everyone else such a good side-I'll give money to my church but I won't give money to a family member - what kind of christian am I? Reminded this person of all of the money I have given over the years to then be told that that is what I'm supposed t

It's not really free - true, the patient doesn't pay - WE all do. The person in my family was brought to the er by ambulance. Wouldn't admit to drug use - came for made up reasons. Blood work/urine was taken. Drugs were in system - prescription drugs and lots of them. Needle marks were on arms, around ankles, etc. Patient admitted to doctor/nurse that said patient was grinding up the prescription meds, diluting and injecting. NW Regional didn't have a bed open. Paulding hospital had no reason to hold patient in ER and no reason to admit patient. Patient was "iffy" on requestin

I'd have to read your handbook or ask.

You know that Mt. Paran School isn't affiliated with the church any longer, right? ( I mean, kids who go there do attend the school, but, I hope you know what I mean - it's not a church/school) Since the move to the new campus. And, all denominations are represented. You're right about the individualism being encouraged. The staff/teachers are phenomenal. We're very very happy. Oh, we're Methodists, by the way.....
-
We're at Mt. Paran - LOL....guess that's why we agree! He'll be just fine. Good luck to him as he begins his new adventure!

No...it isn't.....

Seriously - the lego thing is pretty cool for young creative minds.....they design it, can design their own box & instructions - he now has one of a kind sets......it's cool to do and not order too! -
One of the news stations has posted a picture of this tiny little creature online.....wish they'd have more respect....saw it by accident and it just made me cry.

Did you know that he can do that on lego.com?? My son has "designed" his own sets & we've ordered them....cool to see the creation come to life. -
Thanks, everyone - sincerely - don't know why I "spilled" that this morning Hubby is having to work today, kiddo is exhausted from a huge church event yesterday & has fallen back asleep on the sofa after eating a huge breakfast. Dogs are asleep - one under the desk at my feet, the other behind my chair. No church today - maybe that's it - no church today. For these last weeks, I sit in "quiet solitude" within my mind as the sermon is delivered (don't tell my minister - he is a great minister - LOL) Has seemed like that's "my time" to deal with this mess. Since I'm usually the

Thank you....is destroying my family. Some are in denial. Some don't think it's as bad as it is. Some feel as if "well, the doctor prescribed it - so it must be ok" - yeah, doctors in 3 states. Me, I've taken the tough love approach - I love you, I will help you with all the paperwork/forms/etc to get you into a program, I will visit you, but, I will not give you money, loan you my car, take you to doctors 2-3-4 hours away all the while knowing you just picked up a prescription yesterday - but, you know how to work the system and how not to frequent the same clinics/drug stores.

Tums were awesome....I'd buy the HUGE bottles of like 500...... Mine wasn't so much morning sickness - it was anything in life sickness. Couldn't touch/see raw meat, couldnt stand the smells of many cooking foods, gas fumes, cigarettes smoke (restaurants still had smoking sections), hairspray - pretty much anything that was "strong". My hairdresser was a doll - would come in to the shop a couple of hours before it opened so he could cut my hair because I'd puke if I had try to sit there while the shop was in full swing. The last 2 haircuts were in his kitchen with his wife & kids wa

They were helpful with information only......but, still, it was useful information. Were not helpful re: funding.
-
Glad you had medicaid also - but, I hope that was a hand up and you really understand where the funding for medicaid comes from and just how little medicaid pays the doctors/facilities. I'm not trying to be mean.

I wholeheartedly agree about the payment plans......Our out of pocket - in 1997 - was $2200. When I received the bills - I'd call each office, review my insurance coverage - and set up payment plans. I know it seems so insensitive - and really is - but, do you realize how many people leave, they never can find those people again and the money is never recovered? "Written off" = transfer our loss to other patients & their insurance companies.
