  1. It was West Cobb. I thought it was Paulding, because I heard it at church in Paulding. I corrected it in the original post, but I don't know how to change the title.
  2. If you look at the recent news reports, GA was one of the last few states STILL teaching it. MOST states don't have it in the curriculum, but individual teacher may still teach it.
  3. There was long thread on this recently. It was in the news. Parents can always teach them to sign their name in cursive, too My mother taught me before we covered it in the 3rd grade. I looked it up on the news report when it was on the news and I think GA was one of the last few states still teaching it. Most others had already stopped. We covered it last year AFTER CRCT and most students enjoyed it, but I don't think we'll have time this year.
  4. The little guy won't learn a thing if he keeps hearing at home that he was the victim. There are things in life called natural consequences and personal responsibility. If you decide to hit or pick at someone (bigger or smaller) you may end up getting your own butt kicked. If you walk into someone's house in the middle of the night, you might get shot. If you steal, you might go to jail. I know this is not understood by much of our society today, because its never your own fault.
  5. I don't know what happened. I do know that a lot of people would nut up if they had to put up with what bus drivers and other school employees put up with.
  6. I've never been, but someone was telling me about it recently.
  7. I don't know if they are the cheapest, but John Henderson (State Farm) in Dallas is great. I'll pay a little more for trust and honesty.
  8. The best washer and dryer I've owned was a bottom-of-the-line Roper that I bought cheap at either Home Depot or Lowe's in 2003 or 2004. I gave them away last year only because I moved and there were already some nicer/newer ones in the house, but someone else is still using both. I think the heating element in the dryer may need replacing because it was taking longer to dry, but no real problems.
  9. Do you sell to individuals? Is there a place where you can buy your eggs/chickens locally?
  10. I don't drink, but I'll have a Mayberry please...and make it a double
  11. NO we are not. Not anymore. There are Christians in the U.S., but most people who claim Christianity have no idea what that really means. Most people in the U.S. do not follow or even agree with many basics of the Bible. Because they pick and choose what parts they believe and what parts they don't believe, and say that they're Christian, does not make it so. Case in point, that crazy church that protests and hurls insults at military funerals. The way those people act and talk has everything to do with hate nothing to do with the teachings of Christ or the examples of a Biblical chur
  12. I read some of the other articles regarding the controversy over this guy taking leadership at KSU. From what I read, so far, it is not clear if this one incident represents his true views or if they are pulling out one thing he did that is way out in left field. It sounds like if they find a lot of this stuff in his past, he won't be approved. In college, I had many professors I didn't agree with. I think someone in college should have the maturity to be able to filter things out when they don't agree with a professor. This man is not being hired as a professor. He is being hired a
  13. The UPS store next to Kroger at 61 & 278 also does the pictures for passports. When I did mine it was at the old courthouse, but it went very fast and they were very helpful.
  14. I just heard about this. A movie is being released next week and the story is based on a West Cobb family, mainly the older brother, dealing with the death of a 15 year old boy. The older brother played football at Wake Forest. Movie stars Aiden Quinn and Andie MacDowell. Here is the link to the movie http://the5thquartermovie.com/
  15. Out of curiosity, who do you call if there is a rabid animal? My sister had a sick raccoon in her yard in Dallas a couple of years ago. It was walking around at the edge of the woods disoriented. She called everyone and they all said to call someone else, it wasn't their job. She never found someone to come and I think it finally went back into the woods. I don't remember if animal control also passed the buck or if it was after hours, but of course, you would think they would be the first you would call.
  16. Woo hoo I'm glad my new Toshiba gets good reviews....so far so good
  17. No I read it correctly--- Uh huh...His CO-AUTHOR...believes that President George W. Bush was responsible for the Sept. 11 2001 terrorist attacks. Yep, that would be the association to which I was referring. Red flag for me!!! The other part that was a concern is the quote about America being the most violent nation-state. Another red flag!!!! Plus, I would want to know more about the extent of his Marxist ideology. Perhaps, these are the most extreme examples taken out of context and do not really represent his writings and beliefs, but if it is accurate, I would not put my mon
  18. I've seen the same thing and am always amazed at the stupidity of people who risk their lives to keep from being inconvenienced or just to be obstinant. A while back a dog was running around the neighborhood and we were trying to help catch it. A car was speeding down the road and I motioned for them to slow down way before he got to us, (plus there were several people including kids on the side of the road). Instead he sped up as he got to us just to be a butthole. For all he knew, I could have been trying to get him to slow down because of something dangerous to him.
  19. Ok, not earth-shaking classic music but... "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" takes me back to 80's hair, airbrushed T, and jellies while riding repeatedly on the Abominable Snowman at the Miracle Strip. Certain AC/DC songs make my feet feel like they are roller skating.
  20. Yes, beliefs do matter to me because what someone believes affects the actions that they take.
  21. I'm not making it up; look back at the bottom of the original post. I can't say if its true or not and would not make my decision or any action until I had more information. I would be concerned if that information is accurate about him.
  22. I have to defend the shoes. Those are good for summer hikes. Light flip-flops with good soles and toes protected.
  23. Deleting because I added to the bashing and shouldn't have....washing my mouth out with soap. I'm realizing my post was much worse than what the kid said off-hand. I do apologize to the OP and others who read it.
