I hope this link works. If you scroll down a few pages it, there is a list of counseling services in the area and information about each one. fcn.gafcp.org/fcnetwork/paulding/.../RESOURCE%20Guide%202010(1).doc

I should get somea reusable bags, but would probably forget to take them, too. I'm not picky about the bagging except that I don't want raw meat with anything else. I've not had a problem with putting cleaning supplies with food. -
I used to be IT, but I got my hair cut.

One of the daytime shows (don't know which one...its all running together) showed this exact thing on tv today. I don't remember exact proportions but had an exfoliating scrub of baking soda and brown sugar. I know oatmeal is also good.

Can't blame it on Bush, Obama, or Clinton...IT WAS DEAL. Someone must have said he'll be inaugurated as governor when hell freezes over. (sorry about the multiple posts but am replying as I read)

Thank you, didn't remember the 2004 snow day, but was right before I started teaching. So no snow during work/school week for 5-6 years.

None so far, thank God!

We can agree to disagree. Atlanta only has 8 trucks and brought in more before the storm. I know the state has brought in equipment from all over the state. I am primarily responsible for myself and made plans to keep myself as safe as possible in the impending storm. I have been trapped twice in snow/ice, twice away from home, on impassible roads. Both times the weather hit earlier and harder than expected. I took care of myself and do not blame Texas or New Mexico for the problem.

I wouldn't mind a teacher work day this week, but I don't see them running the buses this week. Unless it gets a lot warmer than expected, many smaller roads aren't going to be passable to buses.

I only remember snow/ice this bad in '93, '82, early 70's. Some have said there was some in 2000, but don't remember it. I remember being in Texas in Jan '01 when the interstate was shut down due to ice. (yes, they had problems too, but it warmed up quickly to help it disappear) There may be others that I don't remember. This is an unusual event. Normally, we don't get this kind of ice/snow and if we do, it warms up sooner to help melt it. I'm sure improvements can be made, but they are doing the best they can in a bad situation. Great job if they improve their plans for another

I don't think this is true. I've been teaching 6 years and last year was the first day we had to leave early or miss for snow. I don't think there were any in the couple of years before that, so that's 7-8 years. Does anyone remember when the last snow day was before last winter?

I haven't heard any trains in Dallas in the last 2 days.

On the news earlier, they said Atlanta has more than 1000 miles of interstate highway. 75/85 at one point has more lanes than any other interstate in the country.

I'm loving it

I remember my step-dad taking being stuck in the mess on the way home from Atlanta. I was a kid, and I remember the snow. I think it was that snow that was almost just like this one, soft snow covered by a thick layer of ice. Those are the only two I remember being like this.

That's fine, but as the hoardes move in, many of us will also choose to move to other areas without interstates. There are areas in NE GA, northern AL, and Western NC that are still rural and small, but are reasonable driving distance to more urban areas.

Makes us sound like a violent bunch, huh? It was actually fun and we always played rough. We piled up two snow "forts" to hide behind an popped up and down throwing at each other. We all got hit and hurt, and I didn't mean to hit him in the face, but he was being a big baby when he attacked me. I remember it was soft snow the first day it snowed, then the next day it iced over the top and all of the roads and driveways were solid sheets of ice...just like its going to be tomorrow. I was trying to remember the year and it may have been in 82.

just kidding...every other thread has lead to an arugument. Why not this one?

YOU PEOPLE ARE USING WAY TOO MANY EMOTICONS IN THIS THREAD!!!!!! There is no reason to use more than one or two in any post, any more than that is just a waste and irresponsible emoting. See my example of responsible emoting!!

I made that realization today, too...NO WATERPROOF shoes. I wore double socks in my old tennis shoes and that was good enough, but plan on going out more tomorrow so will probably have plastic grocery bags inside my shoes.

I can totally understand what a pain in the butt it would be to deal with this kind of weather all winter, every year, but THATS WHATS GREAT ABOUT LIVING HERE...its fun because we don't get it all of the time. As I was walking today in my neighborhood where I grew up. I was enjoying this snow but was also bringing back vivid memories of a similar snow in the early 80s where there was ice and snow mixed. I remember the crunch under my feet with the soft snow underneath. I was watching the kids play and remembering having similar fun with my cousins playing in it. My niece busted he
