Question/Vent about traffic ticket **UPDATE**
Ugadawgs98 replied to melnsid's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yup...stopping to let someone out in a marked fire lane is not a violation of the law. Sitting there blocking it is. O.C.G.A. § 40-6-203 (a) Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control device, no person shall: (3)park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading property or passengers: ( At any place where official signs prohibit parking. -

Yup....most people do not realize how many accidents are caused by "small" things. It dosent seem like a big deal until you are the one smacked as you enter the turn lane at the right spot because someone decided to drive where they are not supposed too. -
Question/Vent about traffic ticket **UPDATE**

Maybe so....I think once you have a length of area separating the lanes of travel it becomes a divided highway at that point. Either way it can also be written as a violation of the no passing zone statute. (40-6-46 No-passing zones (a) The Department of Transportation and local authorities are authorized to determine those portions of any highway under their respective jurisdictions where overtaking and passing or driving to the left side of the roadway would be especially hazardous and may, by appropriate signs or markings on the roadway, indicate the beginning and end of such -
Question/Vent about traffic ticket **UPDATE**

That is a "gore" in the legal definition. The color of the lines will match the area of the roadway it is on. If the convergence area is in the middle of the roadway the lines are yellow just like the center line....if the area of convergence is on a merging lane the lines will be white like the outside fog line. 40-6-50 Driving on divided highway, controlled-access roadways, & emergency lanes (a) As used in this Code section, the term "gore" means the area of convergence between two lanes of traffic. ( Every vehicle driven on a divided highway shall be driven only up -
Most people do not understand how law enforcement responds to the variety of calls for service that they receive daily. They automatically assume that if their lights and siren are not on then they are not responding to a situation where time is of the essence. Many officers and motorists have been killed because a driver made a poor split second response to an approaching emergency vehicle. Because of that only certain calls warrant a full emergency response. In some situations response time is not an issue however many situations call for an expedited response but only to the extent

Doubtful it was removed by DOT. I do not think the cross was in the R-O-W anyway. It was over 15ft from the edge of the road, on private property with the blessing of the property owner.

People call over some really stupid things.

Civil action as long as you can show damages.

Many suicides like that are ruled accidental unless you can find proof such as a note or prior statements which prove suicide. Otherwise the ME must assume the person was abusing the drugs to get high and simply took it to far.

Its not just texting....its talking on the phone, putting on makeup, messing with the radio, dealing with the kids in the back seat, eating.....the list goes on and on. Distracted driving kills....I don't understand why it is so hard for people to grasp. Concentrate on driving.

Neither one would fly....it is a civil matter between the two. To charge with trespassing you would have to show they were there to commit a crime and the damaged property would require malicious intent....you have neither here. The issue is pretty simple....have another company fix the damage and then sue the other company in civil court.

It is not against the law and the SO would not look into it....people have a right to be free from government intrusion no matter how nosey their neighbors are.

Correct on both topics. The only time it is treated as a 4 way is if the light is completely out from a power failure and it is not emitting any signals.
-
That causes more wrecks than anything else you can do. Just because you stop does not mean the other drivers who have the right-of-way will. The other driver keys on you stopping and pulls out in front of someone who is doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

New job postings should be rare considering they are laying people off and furlowing everyone else.

Don't have an ex.....just going off what I have personally witnessed happen to people in everyday life. Thanks anyway though.

Because people are fed up with the child support system. It seems either the father is a deadbeat or he gets screwed by having to pay an amount which is so high it is basically alimony disguised as child support....there is rarely a middle ground.
-
How she "benefits from her fathers success" should be between the father and daughter. Child support should be to help pay for her necessities and not just be more money in the pocket of the ex-wife because she chooses not to work.

Internal injuries is what kills....people can be up and walking around with a closed head injury or internal damage to vital organs.

If they are married it is a civil matter between them. She should probably get an attorney so the proper paperwork can be filed to let her keep the car until the divorce is final.

Well....in my 14 years of experience I can say it never cost me $800 a month. Of course I do not try to count housing as a expense attributed to my child...it is an expense I took on as an adult. The only way I could say that amount was fair was if there was documentation showing $1600 a month was spent directly on the child.

I don't think anyone would would say their job is not dangerous at times....however....I think there is still a difference. I saw many people get rescued from flood waters and it was because brave people risked their life to help someone in need...all those people putting it on the line were law enforcement or fire. I didn't see anyone but those two groups performing fast water rescues in conditions that killed a dozen people in the area.

$800 a month for one child? We really need judges to use common sense when awarding child support.
