I'm guessing they did the reverse 911 (if indeed that's how they did it) thing because they believed the situation to be dire. I personally wouldn't mind being awakened by a call even if I couldn't do anything in such a situation. Perhaps someone who could do something would be notified.

I will believe ANY tax decrease when I see it. I think the Capitol is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, regardless of party affiliation. I think they're going to do some shuffling, some softshoe, and some fancy words, and when all is said and done, we'll be paying MORE taxes (whatever the kind), and little to no cuts will have been made.

Not unusual. I have a pink dogwood planted about four years ago that just had its first bloom last year. I love redbuds. I always thought it confusing that they're called that when their little flowers are purple, but the buds really are red, so I guess it makes sense. The pink blooms you're talking about, I'm guessing, are tulip trees, aka Japanese magnolias. Not to be confused with the littler white blossoms of the Star magnolia, also in bloom right now.

Oh, I don't forget. FTR, I am verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry conservative. And I find that many/most conservatives are just as bad as liberals on issues like this. GAH!!!

I don't even care about this issue one way or another (I don't drink, but if I did, I do think I could manage to buy likker on Saturday, but how stupid is it that you can buy drinks in a restaurant on Sunday but not in a store???). But it truly does hack me off that these LeGisLaTors (said in a totally snobby, Thurston Howell, III, manner) know EVER so much better than we peons do, and know that we simply cannot be allowed to vote on such an important issue. I love Firefox. I don't like Google and their Chicom-loving, information-gobbling ways, so I refuse to use Chrome. I have heard, however, NOT to delete IE if you change to another browser, even if you're not using it. Can't remember why, but something about the computer needing it for something? Computer Rescue may know about this... Also - I now use something called startingpage.com as my search engine. Powered by Google, but NO tracking information. I likey.
