It was a political discussion from the beginning since it involves a government agency and none of us have taken a partisan position.

Very good point. Now my head hurts as well. I guess I have to look at it from the point of view as an investor. My money was taken and given to NASA which in turn developed something with it that has value. NASA is the government and "we the people" are in turn the government. (The government is "of us", "by us" and "for us"). So we are not really talking about just the government making money, we are talking about us making money or at least reducing our tax burden. For those that decide to buy the products that are developed as the result of taxpayer funded programs, I think it is only right

I'm with you. If I brick my phone, I would be in a world of hurt. I have the new Captivate through ATT. While I would like to remove some of the ATT unremovable apps, it's not worth the risk.

I'm a super geeky guy that loves the thought of space travel. However, we are beyond broke as a country and I see no constitutional mandate for them to even exist. If they can support themselves, then fine. If they can't, let the private sector handle it. It breaks my heart to say this because I love the space program but I can justify taking away peoples hard earned money to support the program. This goes for alot of other government programs as well. I'll shut up now. I've just been especially irritated the past few weeks as I have pondered how much of the money that I earn ends up in Uncle

What happened to the money NASA should have made in developing this stuff? NASA should be self supporting given this info. Sounds like we the taxpayers paid to develop all this stuff and then gave it away.

The easiest thing to do is throw the iPhone away and get an Android based phone. Steve Jobs does not have to approve every single Android App like he does with the iPhone. (Running for cover now).

Fake Antivirus Software Uses Ransom Threats
afriendlygeek replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The answer to this is lots and lots of people. But the reality is that nothing is really "fixed". The bad guys will simply just leave you alone for a while, but the malicious software will continue to use the computer for nefarious purposes. Some people pay because they are desperate or embarrassed because the malware will pop up porn sites. Others pay because they think the offer is legitimate. The bad guys are very good at the social engineering aspect that causes people to click the install button or pay the fee and they are getting rich. The infections that scare me are not the "in you fac -
Whenever I finish working on a computer, I always test video and audio playback. Johnny Cash vids are usually my choice. Two of my favorites:

Well... there is the royalty fee. Actually, I heard it from one of our local Pastors. I knew that you would have some good ones to go along with mine.

I could not help but think of Weatherboy when I heard this. (It's his brand of humor). Why should a good Jewish or Christian woman never brew coffee? Scroll Down Because the Bible only speaks of Hebrews and never Shebrews.

I spent 3 winters in Minnesota and really enjoyed living there. The people I met were great. The only thing was they kept telling me that I talked funny. I just quoted Lewis Grizzard who said "God talks like we do".

Have had it since last November and love it. It is a great service with great features. One of my favorite features is that I no longer have to deal with the Comcast TV customer service people.

Head over to your local Verizon store and explain your specific need. I would probably be looking for a touchscreen smartphone if I were you. There is alot of real estate on the screen to have huge buttons. Also smartphones can be customized with accessibility options that will make it easier for a person with vision problems to use. My focus would be on the three Droid phones that Verizon sells which are the Droid Incredible, Droid 2 and Droid X. Sam's club usually offers a significant savings over purchasing a phone at the company store. I just saved $100 by buying my Samsung Captivate at Sa

You are dead on about saftey! FA's are mandated by the FAA for the safety aspect and I believe the required ratio is one FA per 50 passengers. It is a thankless job and one that requires dealing with flirty businessmen as well as the obnoxious that do not think the rules apply to them. Most do not seem to care about the safety aspect and former Eastern and Continental CEO Frank Lorenzo even once made the statement that he would replace all FA's with coke machines if it were not for the FAA regs. (It is interesting to note that Lorenzo was latter banned by the Department of Transportation from

Very true. You don't do it for the money anymore, you do it to see the world. After you see the world, it's time to grow up and get a real job.

What struck me was the most common crime in the U.S. which is identity theft. Every second, two people are victims of ID theft. Honestly, I had rather have someone break into my house and steal from me, instead of ID theft. It would be a lot less hassle to deal with.

I have never liked bull fights and now I like them even less if that is possible.

Interview with Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist
afriendlygeek replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
All true. But concerning this topic, you have incorrectly identified the minority. The minority is Phelps and company, not homosexuals. The only threat I see in Phelps is a threat to free speech as there are already those that would like to see limits that would prevent him from picketing funerals. I don't foresee a successful movement to lock up all the homosexuals. If that happens, I'm leaving and I'm not a homosexual. -
Interview with Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist

I do not even take Phelps and his klan serious and do not believe that they are a threat to American culture. While some may share their views about the war on terror or homosexuality, there are very few that are so full of hate that they would take the actions that this group has. -

This would be my suggestion for everyone except use whichever AV you have installed since most do not have ESET. Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware are both free: http://www.superantispyware.com and http://www.malwarebytes.org

Someone bring me up to speed on the Bob Jones case that has been mentioned. Is there a link I can look at?
