  1. Customer service is the pits at all the airlines now. That's just one of the results of all the cost cutting. In the old days, the wages were high and they had an attractive pool of applicants to choose from. Today, they are competing with McDonald's for employees and the end result is no loyalty and employees that could care less about any of us.
  2. ....Cameron Diaz. Who would have thunk it? http://siblog.mcafee...hidden-dangers/
  3. and I always use to watch it on the internet. Of course, the net was really slow back in those days.
  4. I watch this every few months: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipweRXwPFiQ
  5. Another alternative is GIMP, which can be found here: http://www.gimp.org/ For most of us, this program is way more powerful than what we really need. Unfortunately, with that power comes complexity, which can make learning to use the program difficult. I only mention GIMP because it is on par, feature wise, with the top of the line Photoshop versions which cost around $600, while GIMP is free. If you really need the most advanced features available, give GIMP a try. If you just need the basics, stick with the programs that have already been mentioned in this thread.
  6. I recommend me for the computer work. For the cell phones, I think you are just going to have to spend some time on each company's website and see which one is the cheapest for your particular needs. I think you will find that T-Mobile is the cheapest of the 4 major providers. (The other three major one's are ATT, Verizon and Sprint). As others have pointed out, some of the lesser known companies have some great deals as well. I am on a family plan with ATT and we have been with them forever. If I were starting from scratch, I would look very hard at Verizon because I think their service
  7. Update: The coil was replaced last week. If anyone needs a temporary place to hang meat, give me a call!
  8. We have a Family Dollar about 2 miles from the house. We are in there 2-4 times per week. In fact, I just got back from there - had to have Diet Coke. $1.20 for a 2 liter - not great, but not an awful price either.
  9. I struggled with this as well Brian. The captivate would not have been my first choice if I could have went with another carrier instead of ATT. Unfortunately another carrier was not an option and the Captivate is the best ATT has to offer at this time. I've got 30 days to return it and if the right phone is announced that is exactly what I will do. Have you seen the "Swype" input feature (Video below). I'm not sure what the learning curve is on this but I'm looking forward to giving it a try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnQts9NUnL4 It's still under warranty, ri
  10. I finally made up my mind and got around to purchasing one today. My next phone will be the Samsung Captivate. (I payed for it at Sam's Club and FedEx will deliver tomorrow. I saved $100 by doing this when compared with purchasing it in an ATT store or ordering online at ATT's site). This was a tough decision, but in the end it was the "openness" of the Android operating system that won me over from the Apple iPhone side. The comparison between Apple and Android phones is about the same as comparing a PC with a Mac. With a PC the possibilities of what you can do are endless, while the Mac is m
  11. Looks like corn on the ground. I bet he or she loves that.
  12. Interesting. I did a little research and this is from Region's site: http://www.regions.com/personal_banking/visa_gift_card_tc.rf As you can see the time period should be 3 days instead of 8. But I still find that to be ridiculous! No Visa GC's for me.

  14. Our service has been fantastic. The DVR hiccups every once and a while and we lose 10 seconds of the show, but it has not been a big deal.
  15. The Nexus One was the Android phone to have on T-Mobile. I'm sorry to see that it is no longer available, but I think the Samsung looks like a good alternative. I had read about the GPS issues but that's a feature that I'm not really concerned about and I'm sure they will fix it. My quandary is that I know ATT will be coming out with more Android phones before the end of the year. The only ones that I know about for sure is one from Dell and one from Sony, neither of which interest me. I would love to see another HTC offering at ATT other than the Aria.
  16. I'm paying around $160 a month after the discounted honeymoon period. (TV, Phone and internet). That's for the 2nd tier from the bottom DVR package and 2 TV's. The install process varies depending on you current wiring. If you have coax cable everywhere you have a TV, the tech will probably make use of the existing wiring. In nutshell, the gateway device will feed the phone, internet and tv from one location. If there is not wiring in place for that at the desired location, the tech will add it. You can use google for more details.
  17. See if ATT U-verse is available at your location as well.
  18. Good point. But in this case, the more I look at the current phone offerings, the more I think that Apple will become irrelevant and left behind in the future. Apple moves very slow when it comes to adding features. I find it laughable that it took years for them to add cut and paste and a limited form of multitasking. At this point I'm really leaning toward Android because Steve does not have to approve everything that I want to do with MY phone. Don't get me wrong, I think Apple products are great, but every product they have is closed to outside input without their approval. I think this is
  19. It is not backlit and that's one of the reason the battery lasts so long. Keep the wireless turned off except when you need to purchase a book.
  20. Absolutely. HTC makes great handsets. If memory serves correct, the G1 was the first Android based phone. A great phone, but when your contract is up you will have even better Android options.
