  3. Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ~George Santayana
  4. I guess my priorities are skewed. Tweet away, baby!
  5. Boy, it's tough being you..... Ah, must get back to doing payroll.....somebody's gotta bring home the bacon.

  7. Precisely! That's exactly how it works because as soon as they don't collect enough taxes from tobacco, they will move on to the next "sin" and tax the crapola out of it. Cigarettes may not be your thing but when they start taxing those blizzards an extra dollar because it can make you fat or keep you fat, what are you going to do? Keep paying or demand that OUR government put a lid on their spending! The more taxes, the more control they have over you. Some people are okay with letting the government control them but *I* am NOT okay with it.
  8. Oh but "addiction" is a disease, haven't you heard? Addictions can range from tobacco, food, alcohol, sex, gambling...all of which are user optional but yet is still a disease, usually passed down from one generation to another. So, should this be considered an addiction tax because that is really who they are targeting, those who are addicted to self destructive behavior. Hmmmm. Just throwing this out there. Sidebar:: I personally struggle with the "disease" aspect of addiction but yet medical professionals call it that.
  9. The stupidity of it all is simply amazing! Wow.
  10. check the Atlanta Track Club website. I found lots of events on there.
  11. We went through 100 gallons in a month this past month. Last Saturday, we woke up to a FREEZING house. We have purchased gas twice a year, never more than 150 gallons at a time. I have no idea how we went through that tank in 33 days, other than we ran out of firewood for the wood stove. I guess I didn't realize how much the wood stove was actually contributing to the reduction in our propane usage. The stove is in the basement and is not hooked up to any ductwork for the house. It's just an open basement. I guess the heat rises and keeps the main part of the house kind of warm. I do

  16. my great grandmother was half white, the product of a Cherokee woman on the trail of tears married a white man. They settled in Kentucky. I can't remember the whole story....Just that they were on their way out west when she met this man so she was able to stay relatively close to her homeland. I think her last name was Standifur.

  19. It works. Helps them be more creative finding ways to entertain themselves, they read, play games, listen to music, color and draw, or even play outside! I severely limit their tv time when it is nice weather. If I ever feel that tv is getting in the way of an active life, it will be restricted more often than it is right now. They earn their "tube time".
  20. Compliments when you're all crazy....I feel honored! Now, how shall I pay you, in cash or babysitting?
  21. I am 44, my husband is 33. My oldest daughter is 27, her husband is 31. So, my son-in-law is 2 years younger than my husband. Don't judge. Hubby and I have been happily married 10 years now and have 2 kids that are 8 & 9. My oldest daughter adores her stepdad.
