  1. Scariest movie I ever saw that I liked was "Alien". Saw it at the theater at Kennesaw College, with about 10 other people. Never realized how tense I was during the movie, until it was over, I stood up, and nearly fell over the seat in front of me. I was so worn out I had to sit through all the closing credits until I could stand up again.
  2. From the description, it sounds like Jefferson's is going to be just west of the Skating Rink in that spot where a bunch of different restaurants have been. I wish them luck there. Not very visible. The building in question seems to be the McAlister’s Deli mentioned in the article being " one mile east of the Del Taco" They've been working on the Cornbread Kettle for a while, good to see it's going to open. It's not too far from us. Salt and Pepper over near 7 Hills also has really good meals too and it's about the same distance from us. Just made the connection between t
  3. We saw that yesterday. Kinda looks like a Martin's front However, since they just opened one new one on Dallas Hwy, I wonder if they would be expanding that fast. Of course, we tried to get into the new one after church and every parking place was full so demand seems to be there.
  4. He's very Conservative politically, but very cheap. ("Frugal" he says) Usually Republican, but he used to vote for Larry McDonald for years before Larry was killed in the Russian shoot down because no matter the party, he liked what the man did. Anyway, he just sees no point in spending money he doesn't have to. He's been into Solar energy for years, both solar heat and now the solar electric panels. His house is partially underground and the rest is built with the same insulation as they use up north, 2x6 walls with R-19. Some winter months, he has a power bill of less than $50 for
  5. Dad and I have had this discussion, he has a Leaf and pays that tax. Really sucks the way they implemented it. He's retired and just drives around town and pays as much as the guy who drives into downtown every day, recharging at the company recharge facility? Makes no sense. He does have a sweet setup since he tries to charge during the day while the solar panels are at full output. Tax wise, his Prius is a better deal, with the minimum distance they drive it, the gas tax he pays is very small. He drives the Leaf because of the panels and that he can charge at home and never visit t
  6. Happy Bday Pubby! Dang, I'm old, GD is old, you're old, cptlo is ancient. Time is moving just wayyyyy too fast.
  7. Looking at going in the morning. I have to be in Conyers for Election day and don't want to miss it. The amendments and Referendum appear to be the usual special interest tax breaks put into vague form. 1) Pulling sales tax from whatever is in the budget and pushing it to a vague "Parks and Rec" theme. The crap about not causing a tax increase is just that, crap. They will find another reason to raise the tax rate if they are running out of money. NOPE 2) Do we really need to support another set of judges/courts when we have so many already? NOPE 3) Tax break for th
  8. Boy, YouTube has gone belly up big time. There are some IT heads screaming right now. 500 Internal Server ErrorSorry, something went wrong. A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation. If you see them, send them this information as text (screenshots frighten them): APkpgMUEJpZYiTJHtMmAupHyK9c8S88KIR9qPQTIOc7tNWzdALdDjRKm ZYmMdY_bH8ewSfsQRB0I2ha8WM-MJDglJmXvwzeii1ndYNX_B13BfYQ6 48kR8dQlySTeYtE13sFgSfRkSfI-I0w3YKKPgGLNzCc05a6onwOUIS4V wxnux7CawzCrteJ_WAFLq5kX6Scx-Bid88-sMqvS25EoMUANwcSWh0gt ENiJTw-L6ld1WaCGZ1oxdZIZ17tlRdWyphin1b3vQvyrW7KE5RWjjEk6
  9. We here in North Paulding have a great chance to help the environment because of the Recycling center the county has at the Transfer station. We've cut our trash load by at least half by recycling cardboard, plastic, glass, paper and aluminum cans, all of which is accepted at the center. They even help unload! All it takes is a trip every couple of weeks to the center when the bins in the garage get full. Little further drive for those in the south part of the county I know.
  10. Since the crash site is lined up with the Cartersville runway, I'm wondering if he was attempting to land there and that's why he was so low or was headed west and high ground surprised him. I bought a flight simulator program a couple of months ago and have been flying out of the Cartersville airport on it. The high ground between Cartersville airport and Dallas has surprised me a few times and I found myself about to fly into the trees. RIP Brother.
  11. I'm supposed to have some Cherokee in my family somewhere on Dad's side. But it's so far back I can't be more than 1/32 or so.
  12. Glad to hear you evacuated and are OK! Hope your neighbors that couldn't for whatever reason have survived.
  13. Interesting link. Thanks. I rarely vote in favor of amendments, feeling that many things are put in them dishonestly, but will definitely take a very close look at this one before deciding as it has all the signs of a bad idea.
  14. I feel the airport itself is not a bad thing. I think you are correct that the knee jerk reaction by the first set of commissioners to make the Airport Authority completely independent to try to save their plans from the anti-commercial commissioners coming in will bite us on the butt for years.
  15. Having a school like that here would be excellent, esp if the state is footing the bill for the conversion. It would have a chance of success, unlike the boondoggle of Silver Comet's.
  16. Dang. Just west of our house if the road intersection was correct.
  17. The October selloff has surprised me several times too. Lots of profit takers right now, I think it will recover, hopefully somewhat more slowly and more stable.
  18. As I recall it's moved from Macland Road, over to the building by the stinky fields, then back to Macland Road, then to the courthouse. Like you, I wonder how much was spent on those moves.
  19. Ain't *that* the truth!
  20. Since the Fed is a nominally independent agency (to try to keep politics out of the control of the money supply) I fail to see how you can blame a change being made by the Fed now on two people who are not even in power at the moment. Agreed, the Fed purchased the assets that it now needs to get rid of during the Obama administration to try to keep rates down to boost the economy, but it was not his call, and neither is this selloff of the assets President Trump's call. I don't see how you can try to "blame" the selloff on President Obama. Care to explain?
  21. Not so sure that the 27,000 is going to occur any time soon. Bond yields are rising as Fed continues it's interest rate hikes and sells off some of it's now massive portfolio of mortgage backed securities. Mortgage rates have been rising as demand rises and the need to have high enough rates to find a purchaser now that Fed is not purchasing them. A slow down in the growth to control inflation is not a bad thing.
  22. I dunno. Worked for this guy's grill:
  23. UMCOR - United Methodist Committee on Relief Their admin budget is covered by the church donations, all relief donations go to actual relief. From their FAQ: Yes, 100 percent of contributions designated by donors to an Advance Special account number go directly to the designated program. UMCOR uses other funding channels to cover non-program related activities such administrative overhead or communications. One source of that type of funding is the UMCOR Sunday offering. If you would like to know more about UMCOR Sunday and giving to UMCOR, please visit our How to Give web page.
  24. Have anyone ever seen an external sign that was accurate on a sunny day. I don't think I have.
