  1. looks like somebody is cooking the results when not even one vote is recorded on the state site at midnight. I hate the electronic voting machines. They can make the results anything they want and how would be know differently?
  2. We signed up for Comcast broadcast basic cable in 2004 or so. After digital tv came out, we got channel 2 and channel 5 in HD on our new flat screen but nothing else. Since I didn't sign up for HD wasn't worried about it. Fast forward to last year. Get the letter that our street is going all digital. Order the boxes for the old TVs and install. The cutover occurs and we lose all TV on the boxes, and the only thing we get on the digital TV is ... 2 and 5. Call comcast. They go over all the instructions I've already done, reset the boxes, nothing. I mention that the Analog filters
  3. Also when I was a teenager, every 4th of July we went to a friends house who's dad had an acetylene welding kit and he would make acetylene balloons for us to set off. Get a SMALL balloon, set the torch to a rich mixture, tape a LONG piece of newspaper strip to the balloon. Then place the balloon on the ground, light the end of the paper and run like heck. Even a little 5" diameter balloon would sound like a half stick of dynamite going off, but leave no trace. If you are dumb and use a big balloon or worse yet a beach ball or something, you can make a REALLY big bang and it show no si
  4. It is funny and sad how quickly we can lose access to things in the name of "protection". Or that society is going downhill so fast that we need it. In 1980, I was 18 and my family were about to build our new home in Kennesaw. The Cat tractor man got there to dig the hole for house and found that we had LOTS of rock. After paying for 2 $100 teeth for the tractor, dad told him to hold off, we'd try to blast. Dad was able to go to City Hall, tell them he had experience in blasting before (he had) and get a permit to purchase 20 sticks or so of dynamite and 30 electrical blasting caps.
  5. Congrats to him!! He gonna advertize his old truck on Pcom first? His 1991 has fewer miles on it than our 1999 F-150.
  6. If you need to read the directions, it OBVIOUSLY wasn't written properly.
  7. Hopefully it's on a different orbit than the ISS. Lives and Billions of $$$$ in that object.
  8. Well, there goes them having any on Monday. I'm sure they will sell out at the show. My son went this morning and told me there was a big crowd around their booth. He did find one box of 9mm at a reasonable price he picked up.
  9. Good luck. It's coming in, but you have be there as it hits the floor. My son found me a box of .32 auto yesterday evening at Walmart in Cartersville. Found out that was the last box he had from a shipment of six he had received that morning. The 9mm he received didn't even last until lunch. The Walmart in North Acworth doesn't seem order a lot of ammo, so he's usually out of everything. The Walmart in South Acworth was out of most pistol ammo, but had a few 30.06 and .243. I've been checking on line and only found one place that has had any, but it's all the expensive stuf
  10. Thanks for the summary for those of us that hate video Pubby!
  11. So where is the outrage that the General fund gets the ticket money then? Is it because the Sheriff's have enjoyed all this bonus money? Make a big bust, hit the lotto! Their bosses (the county) can't do anything about it when the Sheriff's uses the money to buy whatever he desires. This makes sense? Being able to keep anything they can take away from the people is a recipe for abuse. The Sheriff's office is under the county government. Having it's funding go through that same government makes sense. The bill may have it's flaws, but it sounds like the current system is pre
  12. I'm curious, does anyone know if the traffic fines assessed by the county court for tickets written by the Sheriff's office go directly to the Sheriff's office also?
  13. Since the law itself is pretty much all legalize, I found some quotes about it: Article Link Sounds as if the existing law needs these changes. If indeed the current law allows seizing property on only the "suspicion" of criminal activity then it is crazy and needs changing. I've heard stories of people who were taking $10,000 in cash to a cash only auction only to be pulled over for a traffic violation and the cash confiscated as "Drug Money" and taking years to get it back. I did find one sheriff's open letter on it. The article's title seems to show the main complai
  14. "school’s zero-tolerance policy on fights involving a weapon." I blame the School Board. When they pass policies that do not allow the administrators to make judgement calls, this is what you get.
  15. Our speed has been ok, but I have had both our phone and DSL drop dead in the middle of the day a couple of times last week. Since we got the notification that Uverse is available to us Friday, I'm thinking they are doing a lot of cutovers/ upgrades which may explain the issues we're having.
  16. We went through HARP last year through Regions. The govt program will pay part of the your closing and buy down the rate for you. That's the advantage of going through the program rather than regular refinance. There are some restrictions based on the loan to value ratio, but check with the bank to see what they currently are. We were able to get 2.85%, it was the first under 3% lock the bank had ever seen. It will take longer to close than a regular loan. It helped that Regions already had our mortgage, however, even with that it took six weeks or so to close the loan. Be awa
  17. I just got the email yesterday that Uverse is now available in our subdivision in North Paulding, so they are expanding the area for it quickly. I got interested when I saw the discounts they are offering, I guess they want some revenue ASAP off the new equipment. With triple play, the savings is extended to 2 years. I wonder how long it will be before we are forced onto it. Some friends in Cobb had ATT phone and DSL, and out of the blue were told that DSL was being discontinued in their area and they had to go to Uverse or lose their internet. Only complaint I've heard on Uverse is
  18. We had the eduction credit on ours, just checked the bank on line, our refund credit appeared a couple of days ago.
  19. When property taxes jumped a lot about 2004 and the mortgage payment went up $50 a month, it had to come from somewhere so we cut back our cable from the big package to the "Broadcast Basic" at $10 a month. With the "digital revolution" it's now climbed back up to $20 a month, but hey, the picture is nice and it includes most of what we want. I just can't make myself pay $70 a month for TV. Not when we can get the above for $20 a month and Netflix for $16 a month including a DVD at a time and all the online TV we can watch. Of course, I think Pubby pointed out a year or so ago th
  20. I've often wondered what those people are thinking, if they are are not just idiots. Best I can come up with is that they hate changing lanes and have found if they stay in the left lane, almost nobody will be going slower than they are so they don't have to pass anyone. Of course it may be they are all just like my wife's cousin who is mainly a reasonably intelligent guy, but has decided that the INSIDE lane (left) is the slow lane, so as soon as he gets on the interstate, he heads over there and runs the limit (if not slower). We have argued until we are all blue in the face for yea
  21. Don't think the thorns on Roses will save them either. They won't.
  22. I think this shows some of the weakness of our mental health systems. Did they not detect this disturbance or did they rush her evaluation because of overcrowded conditions? We may never know. If you have never known someone personally that took their own life, I don't recommend judging them. Hope you never know the demons that they deal with.
  23. Heck yea. I remember buying my first home, a house trailer and paying 14.25% interest on it in those days and that was 4 years after we finally got him out. Oh yea, to stay on topic, all those govt stats run 3-6 months behind. Just wait about 3 months and you'll see the impact of $4.00 gasoline and 2.5% lower income due to the tax credit removal. Funny thing is, we're getting $4.00 gasoline and best I can tell, Bush isn't President. Who they gonna blame this on?
  24. Confucius did say: Man who eat too many prunes, sit on potty for many moons...
  25. My wife used Shout. Lots and lots and lots of Shout. She would use the anti ozone layer cans, Walmart is about the only place you can find those now. (Not sure that would make a difference)
