  1. Hope you find your stuff, esp the papers!!
  2. I think you are vastly overestimating the amount of money to be made here. There are hundreds of different weapons that can be owned in NY, almost all of which have a non-interchangeable magazines. (And a bunch of them will be revolvers and non-magazine hunting rifles which are not affected) Each manufacturer will have to have their magazine redesigned, new engineering drawings and production tools set up, production lines and computer controlled equipment to be reprogrammed for the new parts, new packaging designed and created, just to serve a single state market. Not only cost prohibited, b
  3. Ok, let me get this clear. Are you are stating that all of these Democrat's sole purpose in proposing and passing more and more restrictive gun laws is to increase the sales of guns, accessories, and ammo to the public?
  4. Many moons ago I had a paycheck that was totally wacked out. The hours didn't match the pay, the withholding didn't match the pay, nothing matched. I'd been overpaid $30 or so. Took it to the manager, he shook his head and said just cash it. Cosmic rays I guess..
  5. Washington Times I don't understand, isn't robbery already illegal in DC. And doesn't DC have Gun Control Measures? But wait, turns out that the wearing of Ski Masks during crimes is already illegal!! Maybe.... if the people of DC were allowed LEGAL weapons, they could shoot these guys during their crimes and THEN the point of what they were wearing really wouldn't matter. Besides, do they really think these guys won't go over the Walmart in Virginia and buy a case or two if it's banned in DC? Good Grief. Common sense has been lost.
  6. "Assumed it was a home invasion" so leaves the safety of the house. Dang that word "Assumed" will get you in a lot of trouble. cnet.com
  7. OK, maybe it's the way I said it, but I am not in any way trying to justify what he did, just trying to figure out what the heck he was thinking. As in most fatal events, he made not one, but several bad decisions. And its gonna, and should, cost him as it already cost that young man. Yea, it is a right to be able to bear arms, but their is a responsibility not to be careless or aggressive that goes with it.
  8. Agreed, he made several mistakes, and now will have to live with them. It's late and it's dark. He sees the car and for the life of me I can't figure out why he would want to go out and confront them. That is asking for trouble. I imagine that the first shot scared the young man, it would me, and he dropped the car in gear and hit the gas to leave in a hurry. ( I also can't imagine when shooting a warning shot, and in the air to boot, is ever a good idea) The man hears the engine rev up and all he sees is the headlights moving in the dark, and thinks they are coming towards him
  9. I have to agree that just limited the type of weapons available reducing crime is doubtful. How about the guy yesterday that beat up his ex while at the courthouse where she was trying to get a restraining order against him. www.khou.com Criminals are criminals because they don't care about law, they care about what they want. They need to be fixed or locked away.
  10. Just wait until the hit of every worker in the country losing 2.5% of their take home income shows up on the charts. It's interesting that the Fed keeps buying all these bonds and stuff to keep interest rates down. Where does it's money come from? Is it generating this cash out of thin air? I have to wonder...Is massive inflation around the corner too? Dang what a mess...
  11. What browser are you using? I don't see anything in IE or FF.
  12. If you had an increase, did you have more lighted Christmas decorations than usual? Those can eat up the power, especially the inside ones if they are on 18 hours a day or so. I always have a blip on our Dec/Jan bill. This year it's only $25 or so, but I didn't put up the 120' of icicle lights this year I usually do either since I had the flu over Thanksgiving weekend.
  13. Looks like it came from here: dobbinshousing.com Nothing else I found said it is open yet.
  14. We do the same, except it's mainly for tracking purposes (the rewards are a nice extra benefit). Give my wife and I each $100 cash on Monday and it will be gone on Friday and we won't be able to tell you where it went. I think it's a good thing for cash users. Let's face it, we've all been paying this fee already, in the form of higher pricing in the stores to cover the percentage of their sales that are paid by credit card no matter how you paid. The credit card companies themselves had rules saying a vendor could not charge more for credit purposes, just to make sure the public did
  15. Went out to the range today for a while, looks like the biggest part of my issue was jerking the trigger. Long slow pull fixed it up, at least for short (15-20 ft range). Thanks.
  16. So they make the bread an inch longer... won't change the makings, it's the same amount no matter what size the bread. Besides, they said a "foot long", they didn't say *who's" foot it was. Probably depends on who was working that day.
  17. Thanks for the comments. I was able to correct the movement left by going to a two handed grip, but not the down. I'll take a look at where my finger is next time I go out, you may be correct that it's on the joint. I *thought* I was pulling smoothly, but obviously that opinion is suspect at this time. In discussions with my dad, he thought I may be trying to compensate for the recoil or something since I'm mainly shot .22 in the past. Completely agreed. The main reason I went out to shoot was I had a close encounter with a Bobcat when out hunting last week and didn't have my rifl
  18. Further thought on magazine size limits, esp on pistols. I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere but I thought about this yesterday. All the liberal talking heads are mentioning how no one "needs" more than "x" rounds (whatever they are proposing, in the NY case, 7 rounds). This is just one more than in a typical revolver. Yea, for someone who is trained and experienced maybe. But what about your average person who wasn't armed services trained or doesn't practice once a month? Let us look at the example of the woman a couple of weeks ago here in Atlanta that shot the intruder i
  19. Never seen it in North Paulding...
  20. I think they need some new doctors. One of the articles said the guards were told she was doing it "for attention" and they were not to go in unless she quit breathing. Doesn't sound like the Dr believed she was "serious". Wow. Knowing someone who did commit suicide, I'd say you can't EVER assume they are not serious.
  21. Globe and Mail report referenced said the following: "Ms. Smith, 19, of Moncton, died Oct. 19, 2007, after tying a ligature around her neck, something she had done several times before." Best I can tell "ligature" is a fancy word for a string. Out of the jacket maybe?
  22. This can't possibly be the problem. This event is alleged to have occurred in Canada where it has the world's greatest health care system as paid for by the many, many taxes on their citizens. In fact, I think it's fake. Canada hasn't had any health care issues in years. (At least according to all those who want the US to imitate it.)
  23. At least it's only looking like 1/4" at the most, that shouldn't cause major damage to trees and all.
  24. Yeppers. I remember the BIG ice storm in the early 70s. What a mess! We were only out of power for a few hours (thank you Cobb EMC workers!) but there were others out for a week or more. It was pretty much this event (and Snowjam in 83) that started the whole "go to the store" tradition. Found this in the AJC on it: It's funny, when I moved from the busier sections of Cobb County out to the open spaces of North Paulding, I figured we were moving north and out in the country, so we'd have many more outages due to winter weather. Well, in 12 years here, I can't remember a
  25. Obviously depends on the size of the pool, ours (27'x52",[48" of water])is about 17,000 gallons. Paulding water rate for medium/high tier averages $7.25/thousand gallons, so about $125. Now, I don't have sewer, so there was no sewer charge. If you have sewer, the sewer rates is $6.49 a gallon, so pretty much double the above. Of course, as long as you don't break the liner , you will only draw it down a foot or so each winter, so the yearly charge isn't near as much. In fact I don't draw mine down at all any more, there is an ice plug you can get for the skimmer and a plug for th
