If you take the equal payments, they pay interest on the money that you haven't received yet. So the total for the payments is always larger than the lump sum.

My BIL had that problem with a Smyrna Cop in the 80's. He worked at Steak and Shake in Smyrna and lived in Austell. He got off work about 1:00 AM each morning and for several days in a row, on the way home this cop would pull him over and give him a sobriety test and harass him. He had car trouble trouble one night and my FIL had to go out to help him get it running. On the way back, he was following my BIL home and watched the cop pull my BIL over for no reason. Long story short (too late! I hear you cry) they got into quite an argument and my FIL had to threaten a harassment lawsuit to g

Who grew up with guns in the house?
The Sound Guy replied to cookies are sweet's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Dad had a few from as early as I can remember. (Colt .45, Ruger .22 revolver, .22 rifles) Every now and then when he went out to shoot, we could go with him and he taught us to respect them and the rules for handling and shooting them. (Never point them where you wouldn't want to shoot and that once that bullet leaves, you can't ever bring it back) He told us he would be glad to show them to us when we wanted to, but we were not EVER to touch them ourselves without him present. So, without them being a "forbidden fruit", my brother and I never developed a major fascination with them. -
Geometry, Physics, and Engineering have never been so much fun.

Wow. Pretty cool how they are doing that. I remember the first "Moon Lander" game I played on the first programmable TI calculator and what I learned from it. -
One child dying every 3 weeks from TVs that tip over
The Sound Guy replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Better yet, outlaw drive thru windows. If she had had to come inside for the coffee, they could have instructed her properly on the consumption of the drink. The Jury was a group of idiots that were: 1) Too stupid to get out of jury duty. 2) Wanting to help to the "poor" lady by having the "rich corporation" pay for her stupidity. The jury system in this county is broken like everything else. Esp, where product liability is concerned. -
From the CNN report of the incident: A bystander on the scene who happened to have a weapon engaged the shooter and was able to 1) distract him from his initial victims and 2) convince him to abort his plans. Just what most of the pro-firearm people have been saying. Most (but granted, not all) of these attackers are cowards and want to attack weaponless victims. When challenged, they either kill themselves or run. This is an example of a firearm in trained hands in the right place saving who knows how many lives. CNN Story

FAA May Allow Electronic Devices For Full Flight
The Sound Guy replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If both engines get blown out on takeoff, I really don't think that the difference between me reading my Nook or reading a hardcover is gonna make a difference in my response time. Right now, from door close, taxi, takeoff and climb to 10K ft, I have to twittle my thumbs or read the airlines awful magazine. It's silly. Besides, *IF* there is a chance that the electronic noise from a 3v powered electronic book will override the master controls of a 300,000 lb aircraft, then I suspect that the control system in question really, really needs to be redesigned or next we'll have a terroris -

Sounds like Zoo also would support suing McDonalds because their coffee is hot enough to burn you. Wait.... -
One child dying every 3 weeks from TVs that tip over

Exactly what is the design feature that you suggest that would prevent the TV from being placed on top a a dresser and the whole thing falling over when the child tries to climb up? -
FAA May Allow Electronic Devices For Full Flight
The Sound Guy replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It's about time. My favorite was the plan to allow the pilots to use them, but not the passengers. Hello, who is closest to the controls!! -
My PIL just got an interesting option. ATT has a cellular basestation that you install in your house, then you can plug two different standard phones into it and treat it like a landline. They got a three handset wireless system, so with only one additional cellular "phone" they now have three extensions around the house like they used too. Interesting option.

"Football Pitch" ??? You're not from around here are you? Ok, now things become much clearer. Zoo is obviously another European import that has abandoned the mess they made over there, moved here, and wants to make the same mess here. Supports huge government, lack of civil rights, high taxes, etc. Trusts the government supported NPR more than any "capitalist" news. But speaking of that, lets see how that "Civilized" anti-gun culture and cradle to grave medical care she is pushing has worked in those other "civilized" countries around the world. In the last 10 years over there

Pubby - So your answer to a society that "glorifies violence, murder and mayhem" is gun control. How about attacking the source of the issues rather than the tool? How about Hollywood? They glorify the violence. People see the "heros" of the movie solve everything by using their weapons (the bigger the better and the best is the full automatic!) to blow away anything in their path regardless of the law. Those that go outside the law for revenge are glorified. Look at the TV shows out there today. Criminal minds, NCIS, CSI, they all have shoot 'em ups about every other episode and

Well, no giggle, but I LMAO when I saw this: -
I thought he did a pretty good job with it too. Thought for a second he was going to drift off into politics, but he did well in bouncing off of it. He is correct, something needs to change, but even just looking on Pcom you can see that there is a wide variety of opinions on just what has to change.

The Brits are reporting she was a survivalist that was somewhat reclusive herself. However, even if she wanted the weapons, I can't imagine not having them locked up in the strongest gun safe I could purchase.

Do you put items on your tree that remind you of loved ones?
The Sound Guy replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Our family tree is pretty much all family historical ornaments. My wife always tries to pick up ornaments when we go somewhere for vacation or some other trip so it's a history of where we've been and what we've done. We have many family ornaments that have come from aunts and uncles trees that are gone now and remind us of them, many hand made by the aunts. We have a bunch of the ornaments that the kids have made on the tree too, though I wonder how long we can do that as some of them are getting to be 15-20 years old. -
What Can We As a Society Do About These Horrible Tragedies?
The Sound Guy replied to Beach Bum's topic in RECENT TOPICS
What I don't understand is even if she wanted it, why she didn't have in it in the biggest strongest gun safe that money can buy if she had an unstable child in the house. At a $200K a year income from her ex, it's not like she couldn't afford it. The Brit's are reporting her as a survivalist, which would explain her interest in the weapons, but I just can't understand not having them totally locked down. -
