  1. Well, yes, it's a federal law and is punishable by jail time. But this idiot was just tagging the mailboxes and road signs with his hand. He was hanging out of the window just to see how many he could touch. Maybe if he actually DID fall out of the jeep, it would knock sense INTO his head!
  2. Last night, I was heading home from the Powder Springs Park and Ride through Hiram. I came up behind the Metromont company and a Jeep pulled in front of me from my right. No problem so far....Then, the young passenger (definitely a teenager though) began hanging out of the window - I mean sitting on the door and hanging out the window - his entire upper torso was out of the window - and he was trying to touch all of the mailboxes/signs as they drove along....He had nothing in his hands, he was just trying to touch them. The driver was swerving and trying to get this kid close enough to his
  3. Okay. Maybe I missed it. And I DO have a bad headache so not thinking too straight....but explain how the guy knew your child's name again? Was he a family member of hers? I'm befuddled.......
  4. I completely agree. It's not a matter of what I drive or what she drives, or who's got the worst exhaust. It's the fact that this is a free country and she was just plain out of line. The mother told her to back off because of the language issue. She should have backed off. I would have been on my cell calling the cops. Then, I would have gotten her tag number and surrendered the video. End of story. A night in jail might teach her a thing of two about civility. I don't think her meds were working.....
  5. I haven't read any of the umpteen responses to your question. But, my answer is this: 1) I read your question as tee tee (as in pee) at first rather than Trick or Treat. 2) When our kids were young, we had to take them to a friend's subdivision. We live on 5 acres of property with just a few family around. I do not know any of the neighbors and we would have to get in the car, then get out of the car, then get in the car, then get out of the car....you get the picture. We had 4 little ones. This would not have been easy.
  6. I think that, while all of you have valid points on some level, you shouldn't lump drug users with chronic pain sufferers. I, for one, could not go without my pain meds every day. I have chronic daily migraine. And before anybody raises his/her hand: 1) Yes, I've seen doctors, 2) yes, I've had MRIs, 3) No, they didn't find a tumor, 4)yes, I've tried chiropractic, meditation, biofeedback, exercise, over the counter meds, home remedies, prescription preventives, etc., 5) no, I don't think I take too much, 6) and yes, I've tried going off them. The pain never goes away. I think GA should
  7. This is a human rights issue. Period. Religion should not enter into this discussion at all. We are all human. Homosexual, Heterosexual, Black, White, Asian....Doesn't matter. We are humans first and foremost, and therefore, all deserve and REQUIRE the same identical rights. Whatever I can do or be, my gay son should also be able to do or be. It is what is humane. Equal Rights for all people per the Constitution - get the Bible and all other religious documents the heck out of the discussion. I honestly don't care what the Bible says. It's just a story book written by a bunch of
  8. Does anyone know of any places where seniors can be dropped off so they stay busy? My friend's dad needs somewhere to go during the day sometimes so he's not cooped up in the house every day. Somewhere where he can stay for several hours, where they will make sure he gets his meds if necessary, etc. He's ambulatory, he's coherent, he cannot drive, but he enjoys company. Ideas are very much appreciated. Thank you!!
  9. The lawyer for Ms. Comer, Ms. Rockwell, stated that the boy was alledgedly afraid of bugs and, therefore, would not come out of his room. She said he would not eat either. She said that the Comers could not "make" him eat. Was there a therapist involved at anytime? A pediatrician? DFACS was involved but they kept moving. If the boy could come out of his room at any time, and the lock was on the inside, why didn't they remove the door? Why wasn't he hospitalized when his weight (even if he was being stubborn and not eating of his accord) got down too far? My child would have been hospit
  10. Um, yeah...about that...."They don't know THEIR rights." Constitutionalist. That last sentence is the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it? You criticized the entire school administration in your previous post. Settle down, there, dude. Slow down. You seem to be very bright. If you slowed your fingers down just a bit, you could be amazing!!! Maybe try being a lawyer or a journalist. But, you need to learn how to spell first..... Sorry.
  11. I HAVE to ask: What grade are you in? You will notice that I highlighted a few things in your text. I realize that you were probably all excited about the happenings at school, but, Really? Have the teachers not taught you how to spell? Have you not taken any grammar classes yet? Your punctuation is awful. Your spelling is atrocious. The man riding the golf cart is your PrinciPAL. Whatsoever is ONE word. Immediately has an E in it.
  12. While I understand your frustration about the cell phone, did it occur to you that a bomb threat was called in. The school doesn't know from where, they don't know from who or if the person is inside or outside. They don't know if there is more than one person who could be communicating vie CELL PHONE. I'd rather them take all the phones than none just on the off chance that someone is using them to set off the bomb.
  13. I can't copy the map from google, but these folks lived on Vivid Lane in North Paulding. It's off Ivy Gulledge on up past Mt. Zion Cemetery. I think everyone needs to know where they live. These people need to be sentenced to life in prison - standing with their foreheads against the wall, hands clasped behind their heads, and up off their feet for 8 hrs per day every day.
  14. SOME kids may have been playing on the ballfield at the school, but most kids were on the buses getting ready to go home, or on their way home. I lived on Due West Road, which runs directly across the street from New Hope Elementary (WC Abney now). It took about 15 minutes for us to get home. The bus had just let us off when we got a phone call to check on us.
  15. Full as a tick Happy as a pig in the sun Comin' a tomata (a big storm is coming) Get your ducks in a row That wind is coming off old Peter's mudhole! (it's really cold wind) Better to know which side your bread is buttered on. Six of one, half dozen of another If you've got a cold, you wore an asphisidy (sp?) bag around your neck (a bag of herbs/spices to ward off germs - stunk to high heaven!)
  16. My spring horse...looks more like a happy donkey! I still have it (but I don't ride it anymore.....)
  17. The season premier is actually Wednesday, Sept. 26 according to CBS.
  18. Two things: 1. When I was a child in the Philadelphia area, we had PSAs on the television every evening at 8:00 PM - "It's 8pm. Do you know where your children are?" It was very handy and kept the curfew in front of people's brains. 2. Remember the Atlanta Child murders? Remember how some of the little ones who disappeared had been last seen AFTER DARK PLAYING IN THE YARDS OR ON THE STREETS? Then the parents would seem all confused and say "well, I don't understand what happened. Why my kid?" Ugh! You know what they say - You can't fix stupid.
  19. I agree that you should definitely go into this with your eyes wide open. But, from experience, I can truly say that you should do it. Forget the other family. It's not what counts. This child needs someone to love her. If her parents cannot do it, who is better than another family member? She could have been given to DFACS and let a stranger have her. But, you have her (or will soon). That speaks volumes about your character and moral standards. You know what's right in your heart. You are willing to take in a relative's child, end any and all relations with that person, and move for
  20. Leedom Elementary (PA), Ridley South Junior High (PA), then Paulding County High School Class of 1978..... Hey girl!!! I reminded hubby just yesterday about somebody we both know and love putting our hands together in the hallway and telling us to walk around the school a few times! We've been together ever since - just over 37 years!! Thank you!
  21. Ray Stevens' mother lived in Hiram until she passed many years ago. Just sayin'.......
  22. DISCLAIMER: I do not watch this program. I hate this program and all reality programs. Primarily because they aren't reality - they are all played up for the cameras. Now. My two cents worth: I just watched the video originally posted. The lawyer stated that the Father has had legal trouble (hasn't been verified yet). If this is so, then I agree with the lawyer that the judge has to take the entire picture of both parents into account. I do not agree that any little girls should be dressing up like Dolly Parton wearing the fake anythings. And it could be considered emotional abuse
  23. I tried that. I can't seem to find the place to enter the address except in the Search box and that didn't work. I realize it's probably Operator Error (he he), but could ya give us more details on how to use the website? Thanks!
  24. OMG! I know where that is. I google mapped it. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I remember sitting in my car close by years ago just watching the horses run. I love to watch horses run. There's just something sooo beautiful about it. And these were having such a good time. I'm sure they aren't the same horses, but this is still so sad.....
