My Jeep Grand Cherokee has a CEL on. Because the ambient air temp sensor (that only displays the outdoor temp on the dash) is hinky. So the dash displays -30F and the CEL is on. I've replaced the sensor at least 4 times and it will work normally for a few days and then it will take off and run the temp display on the dash up and down from below 0* to +140*F, finally settling in at a cozy 32*F. As far as know, nothing about the engine operation is connected to the temperature display, so why in hell would it throw a code and light?
