  1. The money should go to high achieving college age students. Then if money is left over, perhaps to other needs. I voted for the lottery to fund college, not to provide free daycare, we had them, we need to raise them. A couple hours per day with your own little ones doing reading and decision making would accomplish just as much as pre k.
  2. Fuel cell technology will surpass battery electric only cars in the next 5 years. There is some very promising research going on in our universities and corporations with news that should start breaking over the next year or so. This info from my genius nephew currently doing research at Ohio State in the PHD program. We'll be fine, if we don't all go broke before cheap energy becomes available.
  3. Yes! Mt. Moriah is the road I was thinking about being really bad to pull out from. Speed and poor visibility is a real problem there. Prayers for all involved.
  4. That intersection is so bad, you have no visibility to pull out onto 61 and the traffic goes way to fast on 61 N. The state should regrade that 1/2 mile section or do something to slow traffic down. I've noticed a lot more traffic on 61 N since the new "old alabama" intersection was open on 75, Lots more trucks now using the cut through to avoid I-285. My kids travel 61 N everyday and have friends on Paul Aiken, I've told them a zillion times, be way careful at that intersection. Hope everyone is ok.
  5. http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx Use this link to check local fuel prices before you leave. You can change it to diesel in the lower right.
  6. After driving Dallas Acworth highway and seeing all of the utility and curb construction going on today. I'm pleased to see funds aiding the unemployed Paulding Co construction workers. I'm sure everyone of the 14+ workers are hard working documented US tax payers and local residents. Congrats city of Dallas (or county/state)for funding a project to assist employing local residents and putting money back into the local economy. I am very proud!
  7. I doubt that it will do anything to the car using mixed gas, but wish it would. I've noticed, filling up lately, doing my own little survey looking at the pumps. Many people are only putting a few dollars in the tank these days. Makes me think that the population is skating on very thin ice financially.
  8. I would like to see the LoFi option available, seems like this is not friendly with smart phones.
  9. I'm with you on this, did it one time shaking my head, after that, 40 min past was the time old dad would be driving up to get them. Cracks me up to see parents sitting for nearly an hour with the car running just to be the 1st in line.

Just bought the Canon SX130is for Christmas. It has nearly replaced our Canon dslr and takes great pictures. Amazon has it at $139 frequently.
  11. As I recall, around 97/98, Ford tried something different with axles. Something like removing the inner seal and the axle was wet out to the wheel. There was a recall or tsb because I had a business partner who had it leak at the wheel seal and the rear end failed. Ford replaced it, but it was likely under warranty then. You should probably contact a Ford service dept and at least check on it if you are the original owner.
  12. When the wind is right, I can hear the trains switching tracks and hooking up freight cars. I always figured it was coming from Dallas. That is the metal banging I hear when all is quiet at night.
  13. If you had a leak to the tune of nearly 400 gal in one day, someone would be smelling it. I think I'd ask the propane Co to audit their driver and truck. Most delivery companies have gps trackers on their trucks and could easily see how long they were at each stop, or if there was a stop off of the route. Don't wait to long or the data will be gone and you are out the big $. Good luck
  14. Yep, I've known several who entered the nuc program since the 70's. I agree with what bikerdave said, They recruit for that program and it may be (other than flying) the most hyped program due to the civilian rewards. Just keep in mind that with the 70% drop out rate (gut feeling) that most recruits end up at another job in the Navy. If he is aware that the study and work load will be about double what an athlete in HS has he will do fine and make you and us proud!
  15. Senior Bowl! http://www.gatorzone.com/carter/blog/200 More in the article, see highlights below. Mobile, AL. (Jan. 2)—Four members of the Florida Gators are hoping Saturday’s thrilling Outback Bowl victory over Penn State isn’t the only bowl victory they’ll be celebrating this month. Safety Ahmad Black, punter Chas Henry and offensive linemen Mike Pouncey and Marcus Gilbert have all accepted invitations to the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl, it was announced today. The senior showcase event is set for 3pm (CT) on Saturday, January 29th in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game and all
  16. I travel 5 states for business. I don't even talk or show a window decal of my favorite sports team, for fear it could impact business! That guy must be just about to retire.
  17. I pray for comfort for the family and friends. I will not comment, I also pray that someday I'll be picked for jury duty in a case like this, and don't want my true feelings in print.
  18. Nice write up in Sports Illustrated with Chas being mentioned as finalist for the award. Very cool for him and his family.
  19. Very sad world we live in. Makes me reluctant to even assist if I were to see something like the accident you witnessed happen. I don't have time in this economy to do anything but work and tend to the family, my heart goes out to you having to deal with crap from people like this. The repaving of East Paulding drive, made me comment that we'll see increased speed and accidents on that road now that is is as smooth as a drag strip. The edge to dirt is now higher than ever.
  20. It is clear now, daughter said it held her up for about 30min getting to school.
  21. Several years ago, the DNR told me that if they stocked a private lake / pond, that you would need to provide public access to it. Keep that in mind. Lots of info here http://www.kens-fishfarm.com/ on pond maintenance and hybrid fish for the GA region. I've met Ken and they really know their stuff.
  22. To much is being put on our schools and teachers as it is. If the kid needs lessons about gun care, have them join 4-H or the Sheriffs auxiliary. Parents are responsible for teaching their children about guns, driving, sex, religion etc.
  23. I'm guessing you got tickets for the Falcons? There are no bad seats in the Ga Dome. If you are in the upper deck, take some binoculars so the little people can see the faces of their players. Dad can use them for some other attractions. Get there way early, about 2hours before game time. Have them go down to the lower deck and down to the rail next to the field during warm up's. They should be allowed to go and get very near the field and be close to some players. Have fun!
  24. I go about every other month, near there for work. My favorite is the electronics, cell phones, ipods, laptops cameras etc. Just be up on what the models are and don't expect huge bargains. The laptops have been wyped of the operating systems, Phones and ipods are usually dead and the appropriate AC adapters are usually not available. I've usually got a couple of universal laptop cords to check them, but the phones and Ipods are a pain. You have about a week to do returns, so keep it in mind. Odd portable printers and a bunch of bluetooth headsets, once again no chargers so buy at your o
