  1. I made that trip in 1970 with a regular cab Pickup, no ac and pop up trailer with Mom, dad and 5 siblings packed in the back under a shell. We went from OH to the grand canyon, CA, up to Salt Lake and then back through Yellowstone. It is still the main topic of conversation when we have family get togethers. I cannot stress enough that you know how to change tires especially on the camper, those little tires explode after a long hot drive. I'd take more than one spare for it. Have an experienced person check and pack the berings and purchase a spare set along with a new hub for the trail
  2. I can hardly wait until we have all four classes at NPHS. The traffic at that intersection will be interesting.
  3. It was about 20 years ago when I had Red Cross CPR training. HIV was getting lots of press and I talked to my friend, a Pharmacist, about my training. My friend told me the exact same thing, that continuous compression would move the blood and enough air in and out of the lungs that breathing was not necessary. He also told me not to tell people about this as it was not the accepted method.
  4. I think there is a couple of festivals within a couple hour drive this month. Apple and October Fest are a couple. Drinking beer, eating Brat, and apple pie, how much better could it, Like Heaven on earth! http://www.georgiaapplefestival.org/ http://helenchamber.com/index.php?option=c...3&Itemid=29
  5. I tried that one time several years ago. The loss was about 2k and I had $500 deductable. I thought that my insurance co would send me the $500 when they got their money from the at fault persons insurance co. I waited a couple of months, called to check on my money. They told me that for amounts under $2500 that the never subrogate. I should have fought with the other insurance co. to get my money instead of letting my Co do the claim. Lesson learned.
  6. I hope it is another WalMart. The other one is a mile to far. Think of the gas I could save.
  7. Its down in the gully between Misty Lea and Eagle Lake drive. There really is not anywhere you could view the lake, perhaps the end of Misty Lea would give you a view, unless you know a lake owner. As for affecting Camberly park, 300' of earthen dam by about 50' high with nearly 40' of water behind it. I think it would make several homes float if it were to let go. That would be a huge amount of mud and water rushing through the creek which flows through Camberly Park on its way to Pumpkin vine. Here is a mapquest link http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Dallas&a...0:::::f:EN:M:/e
  8. I just did a check on the Eagle Lake dam. The water level has dropped about a foot from the high point. I walked the 300' dam and looked for soft spots and water coming through on the downstream side. All looked great. I keep the spillway free of things that could block the water flow, so I didn't think it would be a problem. Everyone needs to make sure your storm drains are kept open so the water can out flow, especially on the earthen dam's in the area. The folks in Camberly should be fine, but, still keep away from that creek. I wouldn't sleep in the basement for a couple of days if
  9. This is what was being released from the overflow spillway, heading towards Camberly Park.
  10. Is it Hunters Glen that is at the bottom of that dam. If I lived there I'd get my car out before the entrance road is washed out.
  11. Eagle Lake spillway Eagle Lake Spillway
  12. Eagle Lake Pictures , The spillway culvert is usually about 10' above the water. Heading your way Camberly Park! this is usually just a trickle
  13. I think it is a mistake to combine info about different dam's and lakes. If there truly is an emergency breach, and it is posted, people should not have to wander around reading each post and attempting to figure out if it is the lake / Dam that affects their neighborhood. JMHO!
  14. I just took some pictures and video during the lull in the rain. I'll post it in awhile. The lake has come up another foot or two since I posted this morning. The level is at the top of the spillway inlet. Unless the rain lets up, the water will crest the dam in another two feet. The spillway culvert is about 4' in diameter and the outflow is nearly full on the exit side. I think those near the creek in Camberly will be seeing huge water coming through. Please again, do not allow anyone to go near that water, it would take your feet out in a second.
  15. I'm no expert, but I started the following a couple of days ago. No laundry unless absolutely necessary. Short showers Minimal Toilet flushing. The yard looked and felt saturated Saturday and I cannot imagine that the septic systems can take much additional inflow. I feel very bad for the people who built at the bottom of the hill. The basements and septic tanks must be struggling with the water.
  16. I just checked Eagle Lake Dam. The spillway is easily keeping up with the inflow and the lake is maintaining 4-5' below the dam top. The dam is still firm and showed no signs of over flow or seepage. It sounds like Niagra Falls near the spillway and the creek is a mad torrent. Not a safe place for out of school kids to be playing today. At this level of water, there is nearly 35' of water behind the dam, I'll stay home and monitor it today and post if there is a change. If you are in a low area of Camberly Park along the creek, please don't let the kids play near that for a few days. In
  17. How about this one, looks like a pretty good deal. I like the toshiba keyboards and this screen is huge. http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?poid=435087
  18. Other than what is mentioned, buy the door jam saw, It will make a better cut and save you lots of time. I've used several typed, I liked the Dupont with the padding attached best.
  19. Micro Center has one at $299 that would fit the bill for most users. I'm looking at it also. http://microcenter.com/single_product_resu...spirentbk158691 I would bet that one with these specs will be under $249 on black Friday if you can wait. For me, I don't mind buying inexpensive when it comes to a laptop, but the keyboard needs to have the right feel, so try them out. Nearly the same specs can be found at Best Buy for $329. If you go to BB, ask for a discount on accessories, they will always offer 25% off on bags and 10+% off on other accessories if you ask nice. Don't forge
  20. Very cute boy! When my son was 2-3 we would go everywhere together. One day after about the third time someone said "she is so cute" when he's wearing blue and a football shirt. I went to the barbershop and had them cut his hair. Mama was so angry that I was in the dog house for a couple of weeks.
  21. I've got a feeling speed humps in our neighborhood
  22. But I'm not going to be the 1st to list the one I saw.
  23. After watching that, I'm ready to go pull Livin and Luvin it's teeth.
  24. You are a year to late for me. I have zero apples on both trees this year due to a late frost. Last year I had tons that weighted the branches down to the ground. Perhaps the same thing happened to others with apple trees this year. Good luck, I hope you find some. bump for your request
  25. Like the others said, you should make every effort to attend. I can attest how difficult finding a new job is these days. When I had many employees, the last sentence of the employee handbook, stated, "or any other duties required to complete your job". The joke was that it was saying the boss could ask you to do anything that was legal, from cleaning restrooms to travel to assist at other stores. I'd look at it as they really value your work and want to give you some training. Most employers look at these things as a perk. Plus, whenever you meet your peers from other locations, trea
