  1. If you are here by next weekend, you need to attend the Paulding Meadows Festival. HS marching bands, Live music, lots of crafts and food. Some of that bbq everyone is talking about. It is kind of like our county fair without the animals. Very inexpensive people watching entertainment. I'm curious, most of my local friends dream about a move to Montana, if you are inclined, let us know what brings you here.
  2. I'm very allergic to poison ivy. Since I've got lots of woods and do some yard cutting I've had some serious bouts with the rash. I usually try to cover exposed areas with the invisible glove stuff or in a pinch just use liquid dish detergent and use it like suntan lotion. Then when you are done, do the clothing thing like others have suggested and then jump in the shower. Using the invisible glove or liquid soap keeps the PI oils away from the skin and it washes off and down the drain with the soap layer. This next suggestion will make sense if you are a man. I keep a pack of wipes in
  3. I think many people would be surprised at what happens in all parts of our food industry. I come from a family farm background and have seen it all. I guess since I've seen it, these things do not come as a surprise to me. I can recall field trips to the slaughtering house and hatchery as a kid and no parental red flags were thrown up. There were no avoided questions when the sexers (chick sex checking persons) discarded the male chicks. As children we all knew they went into animal feed, or fertilizer, to be recycled into the next generation of agri-products. I’ve seen everything put in
  4. I've been contemplating adding another cell line for $9.99 and calling it my home phone and leaving it there. I could port the home number to the new cell line. Seems that porting is not available with some internet phone services. That way I would not have to give my cell number out. You could also have the calls forwarded and check voice mail. Seems like a win win, since I'm sitting on several thousand rollover minutes. Gotta check to see if I can still add lines for $9.99
  5. The girls were wearing what I thought was work boots. Skirts that did not touch the seat when the were sitting in class, no wonder I was a wayward student. Wire rim glasses, like John Lennon. Dutch boy hair cut. Skin tight jeans. boones farm apple wine, little kings cream ale. The cars sported crager mags, thrush and cherry bomb mufflers. Everyone drove a mustang, camaro or beetle.
  6. Being so near Kennesaw and everyone being a gun toter. I'm surprised that someone has not plugged the offenders by now.
  7. I think they are what you make of them. I had my 30 a couple years ago and The cliques existed. I just went from table to table and entered into conversation with most everyone there. I had a great time and connected with many persons from the early years. The funny thing was that many of the people who were local failed to show up for any 5,10,20,30 reunions. I think they feel like they see the people all of the time. What they fail to realize is that those of us who travel to attend don't get to see classmates everyday. I think it is selfish to stay home. If you go just to sit and ta
  8. When you are done with it you could use it as a doorstop or cup holder!
  9. I've got a bag of 2" size hail stones you can borrow if you think it would help.
  10. I would love for this to be real, but I'm always the skeptic. I looked at several video's of this and one of them I think I see, the slider lay back and then you see him sit back up as the slider is about 1/2 way down the hill. So I'm thinking dummy. Then, if you have ever tried or watched someone using a slip n slide, staying on track is almost impossible. I'm banging back and forth at the water park against the sides of a straight shoot. It would be nearly impossible for someone to actually make that slide and not get off track. That much momentum would drive his shins into his chest o
  11. I had a couple bikes left once, asked the kids to take them home more than once, put them out front with a sign that said free. They were soon gone, never had a bike left again.
  12. As a kid, we just tied them up in a bundle and stood them up. They usually lasted till spring. My granny always made us do it to feed the wildlife in the area. We've got so many coyote's around here that the field mice and rats don't have a chance.
  13. List his skills, I sent you a pm asking for more info. I'm finding lots of PT work by word of mouth for home repair these days.
  14. Way Cool! thanks for sharing
  15. I grew up around big families where 5-8 kids was the norm. Having 4 sisters and multiple female cousins of all ages around for most of my youth, seeing little girls pretending to breastfeed was the norm. Heck, there were so many pregnant aunt's around that real infants breastfeeding was completely normal. This is no big deal and parents have the option to allow use or the spending of their $ any way they see fit. I just wish we could focus this energy on things that matter. I view it as a way to educate your daughter that certain things are more socially acceptable if kept discrete and be
  16. The best thing out of that story is where the guy said "I should have pulled over and let him pass". I bet in the 10 years I've lived in Paulding I have pulled over 20 plus times to let the tailgator go by. He's not the only Paulding Co. driver that deserves the salute, including me. I almost pulled out in front of a motorcycle yesterday at the Hickory Hut, due to limited visibility. I felt the lump in my stomach as the rider had to break hard. My 1st thought was if he stopped will a heart felt apology be enough. We all need to be a little more tolerant of our fellow humans, plus, just a
  17. The sad thing is that only the people who could easily afford to purchase a new vehicle were able to get the bonus rebate. Those consumers who need some time to plan a major purchase have been left out again. I know many people who are struggling with the economic decline that were considering a car purchase under this program. Part of the intent of the rebate was to stimulate the economy and get consumers spending. This turned out to be a pre-bate for consumers who still had the ability to spend. From the look of the turned in vehicles I saw on the news last night they were not the "read
  18. Many years ago when living in FL with a pond out back where gators frequented. I named my runt mut "gator bait" the neighbors did not appreciate the humor. Pubby, If you up the bounty another $10 I'll purchase a paid membership. I really want to see some good pictures and video of the Paulding Bear.
  19. Bait is a funny name for your pet dog
  20. I don't bet, but if the Paulding reservoir is actually useful enough to provide us water I'd be surprised. Its been many years, but in conversation about the reservoir I was told that the natural inflo will not even keep up with evaporation. If we do not get permission to pump from the Etowah river from Bartow Co we will never get it filled. The water for the Etowah comes from Allatoona. Another source of water for the Atlanta Metro area and it was also in great peril during the last couple of years. The Etowah river basin is another flow challenged river by Alabama and FL so Poor Pauldi
  21. I say that every time there is a tropical storm or hurricane in the gulf, we open the gates to Lanier and let them have all the water they "don't want". After doing that a couple of times they may ask us to quit releasing the H2O.
  22. This thread should be required reading by every hormone driven young man. Might just keep someone from going unprotected, one brief moment of pleasure for many years of pain. This guy did the right thing and really got hammered for it. He should take her to court for recovery.
  23. Good Luck, it can take months to replace a job these days.
  24. Well, I think it took at least a $5 tip, with inflation, it would be close to $20 today. Now get off of pcom and go entertain your hubby with the rodeo or flip and let us know how it works out financially for you.
  25. Back in the early 80's, at the West Tampa location, there was a Hooter's girl named "Thumper". She would do standing back flips from the top of one of the small hi top tables. That was some real talent her parents could be proud of. It at least impressed the xxxx out of me!
