  1. No, he is restricted to the living room and kitchen areas. Thank you for your thoughts- I have a petsit to run and take care of right now- I will return in 1/2 hour- 45 mins to check back in here!
  2. I am petsitting for an ancient bulldog, that (unless I duct tape the regular/extra large size pee pads to the laminate flooring, which I wont do!)slips and slides all over the pads, pushes them into a big mess, sleeps on them, then doesnt have anything to pee on except the laminate flooring. I have a call into this doggy's owner, who is out of the U.S., to see if I can crate him, or will he become too depressed, or does she want me to board him at the vets to protect her floor. I am visiting 3 times daily, at owners request. There is an underlying medical issue they are working on identifying, p
  3. Roads are fine- I went from Hiram Sudie down to Bill Carruth over to Merchants Drive for a petsit. Then I returned home via 61 to Winndale, to North Davis Mill , no problem...
  4. 2 for the restaurant side from here!!
  5. When I was working at a vet clinic in Rhode Island, the receptionist called back to me, "Wendy, your hubby is on the phone". I picked up and jokingly said " Hi, Lucious... " THE CLIENT then said ( He was choking back laughter, " Hi, this is Dave...{------my hubby's name-----}... and I am calling to find out how my dog did with his surgery..."
  6. Count me and my Hubby IN!
  7. I was REALLY into it all during fall, and then my husband got into it also (on my farm) but I have lost interest in most of it. I still get on once daily and tend to the animals and harvest trees, if I feel like it. My hubby is the one that plows, plants and harvests, collects ribbons and awards. Eh, I am just bored with it.
  8. It's not just North and South, it can be between states and/or regional. Go up to New Hampshire.. and the real old rural New Hampshirites ( which are , like others here have said- they are true rednecks/hicks themselves) call those who go up there for vacations to second homes on lakes and mountains, "FLATLANDERS" . These people usually come from Connecticut and Massachusetts, sometimes New York and Rhode Island. These people tend to have quite a bit of money, so they vacation "up north", in very nice vacation homes. The locals, who live very simple, modest lives, oftentimes speak very coldly

    Thyroid

One is " The Thyroid Sourcebook for Women " by M. Sara Rosenthal. The other one is " Thyroid Power " by Richard Shames and Karilee Shames. I take what is useful to me from the info in the books, and leave the rest. "Thyroid Power" has great info, however as the book goes on it does delve deeply into redesigning your entire diet,to be a holistic-type diet, which is not something I am going to do, so I dont really subscribe to that section. You are more than welcome to borrow them.I myself have other auto-immune hormonal issues, so I do have other books on hormones, menopause, etc, if any of tho
  10. If I ask regarding something, I just imagine it as "neighborly over the fence chatting "! Sometimes it's nice to get live people caring about a small ( or big ) item you are needing info on! Especially if you have no family around, and you havent been here forever! Kinda beats back the loneliness!

    MLK Day

I worked today, being self employed. I decided that, for me, the way to celebrate MLK day, was to give what I could afford for the Haiti relief effort. I donated the proceeds from a petsitting I did back in December to the Red Cross.

    Thyroid

I have auto-immune thyroiditis ( Hashimoto's Thyroiditis ) and have been on replacement for nearly 10 years- currently on .150 mcg, possibly moving up to .175 mcg, depending on the results from my blood test next month. I do have some very helpful books if you are interested in reading...my original side effects were very positive- weight loss, more energy, etc. I have the challenge that they cannot seem to get me well balanced- I actually miss going to an endocrinologist- I used to have one that I went to when I lived in Vermont. Right now I am only going to my general practitioner-and I thin
  13. I have only just bought a mobile phone charger, havent even taken it out of pkg yet, so thats not it, but thanks for the thought! Nope no other devices, I tend to be pretty boring in that way!
  14. I have a 1999 Isuzu Amigo, bought it 3rd hand. So obviously I have no instruction manual on the stereo that was put in by somebody after they bought it. Anyway, FM reception is fine. I do enjoy ( although dont necessarily always AGREE with)listening to talk radio either on 750 or 920 while I am driving from house to house petsitting every day. For the first year i had the truck, it wasnt a problem. Now I cannot get AM at all- sometimes just a crackle of static, otherwise silence. Around Christmas time, if I let it sit on the station for 5 minutes, it would come in for about 10 minutes, then I
  15. I just got an automated message that the "Transitional " Meeting ( For 8th graders that next year will be transitioning to 9th grade) is on for HJMS parents tomorrow evening at 6 pm in the cafeteria.....so that is still on.
  16. I am headed to look under my bathrooom sink , where I know I MUST have some Coppertone suntan lotion. Maybe if I turn on a bright light, sit right under it, and sniff deeply enough, I will be by my poolside in the baking sun, a light warm breeze going through the trees, dragonflies zipping around, and a nice cold tea next to me.....
  17. I am about to do a petsit- from my sub off of Hiram Sudie, down to McClung, and around and down Sinyard from the top entrance....at least my hubby didnt go in to Atlanta today, so I have the four wheel drive vehicle, which is a TAD bit better in these conditions. My Isuzu Amigo would be laughable on these roads! Ok, I am back...they have put some stuff (salt, gravel) on the section (that I saw)on Hiram Sudie, so there are patches that are still icy, some slushy, some dry. Mc Clung wasnt too bad, Sinyard a little bit tricky, but not too bad. HOWEVER, when these refreeze- its going to be much
  18. My hubby and I are Farrmville Addicts, I admit!! He does all the crop planting, harvesting, and plowing. And anything else that I havent done that day. I like buying stuff, but I dont use FV Bucks, I only buy with coin. And I move stuff around, harvest trees and animals, and we both share helping others out..... And my hubby is also a Mafia wars addict...under my name!
  19. ...Thank you, God, I am not alone! If you happen to see my 13 year old daughter at the bus stop- DONT BLAME ME for how she is dressed! I gave up the arguing, pleading, whining ( I sound like the 13 yr old!) with her about the jacket thing. (Remember-we are from Vermont!!) I said good- if you freeze to death , it's your problem, not mine. We bought her a brand new jacket( THAT IN ITSELF IS A STORY..) on Sunday, and she has a brand new Toboggan ( hat ). Both were purchased with HER choosing what she wanted. ~ GRRRRR -never mind- lets just say I wanted Target or Walmart- she and "DADDY" ( the nam
  20. Oh Peggy, do I EVER need to come see you...its not good!! I will call and book in the next couple weeks! P.S. Thanks for the call!!
  21. I remember an ice storm in Vermont, I had to pick up my daughter from her afterschool program- I think she was in 3rd grade. It was about 6 pm, I couldnt even get up the super steep hill that the old school sat at the top of, so I just parked it to the side. I got her, and we walked back to the car. Once started up, the car just slid about 15 feet backwards down the hill in the dark ( THANK GOD no one was near us )until we were jammed in by two guardrails near the bootom of the road. She and I were terrified. Another time, I was pet sitting in Vermont ( I used to petsit in snowstorms, blizzard
