  1. We have gotten calls on the home phone occasionally, but they usually stop. Eventually. Now my husband is getting calls on his cell phone. He has not been able to answer it yet, as they usually call in the morning when he is either asleep (weekend) or at work. When he calls back and says they are calling by mistake and to remove his number, they say they have no record of his call. When he asks to speak to a manager, they say no or hang up. Always very rude. I will have to tell him to ask for their address, and threaten with reporting to AG and/or FTC and follow up if they continue.
  2. Hmm. I was spanked, and pushed/thrown into a pool when I couldn't swim (and countless other big brother-type torture). Some would say that explains a lot.
  3. I wrote her a nasty letter when I was in high school.
  4. Ha. I wish I could go on a vacation. I have two geriatric cats requiring medication (one gets a pill every other day, one gets twice daily injections). I'd have to board them at a vet, and I don't have the money.
  5. Awesome. I'll stick to my avoidance tactics, then.
  6. I'm not condoning beating a child (as tempted as I am sometimes). But grabbing or smacking an arm is not a beating. Nor is a spanking. None of us were there but the OP, so we only have their side/description of events.
  7. Sure, when issue is not immediate, or does not involve harm to animal, person, or property. And in some cases, it would do no good, anyway.
  8. So when the parent is there but does nothing....
  9. I mean, really. It was IN MY HOUSE, and it was MY CAT. And she just sat there slack-jawed. So I handled it. As long as it didn't involve an animal or person, I wouldn't have reacted if this happened in their own house. Of course, I avoid children at all costs anyway.
  10. Depends on the situation. I once smacked a kid on the arm for pulling my cat's tail. His mom didn't say anything to me, and wasn't saying anything to the kid when he did it. And this is why I no longer allow children (and their non-disciplining parents) in my house.
  11. I've been through this with a friend (but no kids), and now with a family member (one kid, one on the way). They won't leave until they are ready. Nothing you say or do will change that. My gut tells me that keeping the lines of communication open is the thing to do, but on the other hand, I have no patience for her continuing to go back to him repeatedly. She knows I'll have nothing nice to say, so she doesn't contact me when they are together. It's very frustrating. Do what your gut tells you. Seems you've already figured it out.
  12. I would go. If you're not right for that job, they may have other opportunities, or know someone else who does.
  13. I have a problem with it, too, being blinded. Good thing I'm at work long before the sun rises.
  14. A friend who works for Cobb said that this "is a ridiculous rumor and completely untrue for Cobb."

Ha. I just got it elsewhere.
  16. Sex is bad? Do as I say, not as I do?
  17. She sentiment that the baby is better off, etc., while true, seems to be a double standard as well.
  18. Something like that. Despite the intensity of the jury duty experience, I enjoyed it overall. I remember being asked how much we paid for certain utilities in 2000. It didn't seem intrusive to me, but info that could be useful.
  19. I got the long form last time. And it was LONG! I looked at it sort of as I did when I had jury duty.
  20. My question is - were the people who are upset now upset then, or are they connecting it with their dislike of the "current administration"?
  21. Was there this much of an uproar in 2000? I don't remember.
  22. True. When we were shopping for my husband's truck, we HATED the slanted headlight design on the Silverados and ended up with a GMC. And they keep getting worse. Blegh.
