  1. But it is not just an issue with "Radical Islam". The Sunni [who we support in Saudi and many other Arabic countries] are the great majority Moslems. The Shiite [the overwhelming majority of Iran, and almost a split in Iraq] hate the Sunni. Most of the terrorist activities within Islam is directed by Shiites feuding with Sunnis. And the USA, as a supporter of many Sunni governments becomes the target as well. Bin Laden is fighting with his own family in Saudi. And to lump all the Moslems together in one group is absurd and only shows the ignorance of the situation.
  2. They are both in Iowa. To identify if you have recalled eggs, look for the plant number code and Julian date stamped on the end of the egg carton or printed on the case label. The only eggs effected by this recall have plant numbers P1860 or P1663 and Julian dates as follows: P1860 – Julian dates ranging from 099 to 230 P1663 – Julian dates ranging from 137 to 230 The eggs are under the brand name: Hillandale Farms Sunny Farms Sunny Meadow
  3. Even eggs which do have salmonella enteridits if thoroughly cooked will be fine. The problems arise if you consume contaminated eggs raw [homeade mayo, hollandaise sauce, classic Ceasar salad, etc]. And even then it tends to be infants and elderly with a compromised immune system. I have been trying to find out if any of the eggs from Indiana actually came to Georgia. If so, probably institutional. We have 4 massive egg facilities, 3 in North Georgia and 1 in South Georgia which produce millions a week more than are consumed here. Any given packing plant will have cartons for Kroger, P
  4. my 23 year old is moving back in this week. He is 5'10-5'11 and weighs 140. He eats 3 to 4 POUNDS of food a day. 4 to 5 "Main" meals, and then 3 or 4 "snacks". I am NOT looking forward to this, and may keep the freezer key in my pocket, and buy lots of PB&J
  5. We like the Wishbone Chicken at Krogers. And since we are a dark meat eating crowd, their 16 piece deal of darkmeat for $8 is hard to beat. I can't buy the oil to fry in for that, let alone the cost of the chicken and the time to cook and clean up. With son moving back in, we will be doing the 16 piece deal once a week or so.
  6. Call him and tell him to get a haircut
  7. Both the "Parties" have made it financially and grass root worker impossible to run as an Independent. The number of petition signatures required it absurd at best to be able to obtain. The local GOP has made it virtually impossible for someone not "adopted" by the Powers That Be to run. They have their own agenda and slate of candidates they support, during the primaries no less. I for one am very relieved that I will have a viable alternative come November and won't have to write in Micky Mouse again. If you think Paulette will be a good representative for Paulding then by all me
  8. The Bojangles chicken is pretty good as well as the dirty rice and pinto beans. Hardees brings back BAD memories. The ONLY fast food joint we had in the little town in NC where I went to colleges was a Hardees. Other than that was a nasty greasy spoon diner, a boarding house which served students meals for $0.50 [lots of Spam and Hot Dogs], the school cafeteria, and Hardees. I swore I would never set foot in one again, and I have kept that promise!
  9. Somebody tell TBAR he needs a haircut. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!
  10. YES, the Robber Baron Mega Developers made out like bandits, that they were. In the interim, we the taxpayers got hit with and increase on what we had to pay year after year after year. And those were tax increases and Paulette voted to approve those tax increases. Otherwise the BOE would have rolled back the millage rates to neutralize the increase from assessment increases. By not doing so she voted for a tax increase. Call it what you want but she approved the BOE tax increase every year she was on the BOE. Conservative my ass. She raised our taxes every single year. If you feel
  11. Call it what you want. If my taxes are more this year than last year, I had a tax increase. During Paulette's tenure, I had a tax increase every year and the BOE minutes show unaninmous approval each year. Either she was not present or went along with the increase. If my taxes decrease from last year, then I got a tax break or decrease. That is what I am expecting to see this year, but I guess I will have to wait 2 more weeks until the tax bills mail out. If mine go up, you will hear from me. But I am expecting them to go down, substantilally. And you will hear from me
  12. We got the tile for my office, den, guest room and left overs for the outdoor shower for about $0.65 a square foot at the Home Depot closeout place on the E-W Connectior. However, the cement board. thin set and grout, screws and labor will cost you another $1+ a square foot or more. TO met it is worth it.
  13. Ceramic tile is the way to go. But redoing can be expensive. The tile will make liars out of those who come in and don't clean their feet. We have an offwhite in most of the dowstairs with a slightly smokier color tin my office, the guest room, and den. The Hot Tub room is a champagne red/pink and is porcelin tile which is even stronger. Sweep or vaccuum, mop with a swifter or mop and that is it. Yes, in an older house without the options, it is cold on bare feet in the winter. So wear socks or slippers. Yes, wet feet will be like skating on ice. Dry your bare feet before ventu
  14. Have you gotten a tax bill ? I did not think they went out until September. I am expecting mine to go down, even with the millage increase, substantially. With the county M&O going up .95 mills, and my assessment decreasing by 25%, I am expecting a substantial reduction of around $300. The county M&O is the least of the actual taxes. Theirs going up to 7.5 or so from 6.55, is only 1/3 or so of the school at 18.09, which for me will be going down by 25%, and will far offset the county .95 mill increase.
  15. But the Georgia Taxpayer's Bill of Rights is very specific about that exact issued. If the assessment county wide goes up, then the BOC and BOE have 3 options: 1] Do nothing about the millage rate, but they are still required by law to hold the public hearings for the upcoming Tax Increase 2] Raise the millage rate as well, and hold the required public hearings for the upcoming Tax Increase 3] Roll back the millage rate, pat each other on the back, and announce a Tax Decrease Now, in the event the assessments went down county wide, as they did this year, the law still required
  16. TBAR, our very own P.com marrying minister. He married Satellite and Mrs Satellite at our place. Wasn't quite as warm as it was yesterday. Congrats to the newly weds!
  17. I like to break it down to my checkbook/escrow account. If I pay $1000 in 2008, and $1200 in 2009, I had a tax increase and I could care less if it was caused by an increased millage rate or an increase in property value/assessment. Either way, it was an increase. If I then pay $900 in 2010, then I had a tax decrease, even though the millage rate was increased. You can spin it, and put various forms of semantics all over the place, but if I pay more than last year it is an increase. If I pay less than last year then it is a decrease.
  18. Looks to be pretty solid data that shows the tax increases while Paulette was on the BOE. As far as Paulette's Posse denying the tax increases, I have to assume they keep on it, and if you tell a lie often enough, maybe you eventually start to believe it yourself ?
  19. The new park with the fountain is going to be a Silver Comet Trail Spur Park. It is going to connect with the SCT at the Drummond Park on the other side of 278. It will bring people into downtown Dallas from the Trail. And I believe there was opportunity at several Dallas City Council Meetings for citizens to have input on what was going to be there. I kind of like the way Dallas looks from the new fountains back up Main Street to the old Courthouse. It is a far cry nicer than it was years past. And I believe they are working on plans for a parking deck as well.
  20. And, as I pat myself on the back, I will take the credit for sending Taylor to see Pubby in the first place. I was SOOOOOO tired of listening to his Arkansas twang and not-so-pretty face, I suggested he write the news and let Taylor deliver it. And Taylor was a natural, and was SOOOOOO much more pleasant to listen to, and watch! Congratulations !
  21. I just don't get the logic behind protesting a millage increase when we have had a county wide assessment reduction of more 17.5% in the tax digest. What other services do you want to cut ?
  22. Half pound burgers from the ground beef we ground ourselves a couple of weeks ago. Really flavorful. But we will have to have a STORE BOUGHT tomato with them. The last of our plants burned up this past week.
  23. And then there are cases like ours, where the government turns a blind eye while the developer simply ignores the survey steaks and TAKES a couple of feet of land because they had already committed to the sewer pipe designs. What's a couple of feet of property ? And the insult to injury is we are paying taxes on the first couple of feet of land across the street, as well as the entire street! '
  24. You don't seem to understand that the "Old Group of Good 'Ol Boys" is still very much involved with Paulette's contest and the local GOP. And, after losing with Beverly Cochran, it is their last straw. If Paulette loses, the door will be shut on them with Paulding Politics for the next 2 years, and hopefully forever. Jerry Shearin has been taking Paulette around to meet certain people. Why don't you ask Paulette if she was going around with Jerry this morning?
